Apocalypse: King of Zombies

At that moment, Big Ears and his crew—four zombies in total—were wandering across an open plain. With them was their little prisoner, Dirtferret, along with Big Ears’ zombie underlings, Gatorax and Fear.

They weren’t far from a Genesis Biotech outpost, and their mission was clear: find some Canadian zombies and lure them over.

”This mission’s gonna be a real challenge for us,” Big Ears muttered after a moment of thought.

Shrimpy looked confused. ”What’s so hard about it? We’re just supposed to attract a Canadian zombie horde. You think they’re gonna catch us or something?”

”Wrong!” Big Ears snapped, dead serious. ”What if they take one look at us, think we’re too strong, and run the hell away?”

”Oh… huh. Yeah, that actually makes sense,” Shrimpy nodded, and the others grunted in agreement.

Big Ears gave them another warning. ”So listen up—when we get there, don’t go flexing your alpha-zombie vibes. Keep it low-key.”

”Got it, no problem!” the rest of the crew chimed in without hesitation.

They kept moving forward. Now that they’d left the snowy mountains behind, the cold had eased up. The snow was gone, replaced by damp, bare earth, with fresh green shoots poking through here and there.

Big Ears dropped to all fours, pressing one oversized ear to the ground. His hind legs stiffened as he crept forward, listening intently for any nearby movement.

In this area, finding a Canadian zombie horde wasn’t exactly hard.

Sure enough, after a few minutes, he picked up a faint sound.

”This way!” Big Ears barked, heading straight toward the source.

About half an hour later, a savage roar echoed across the plain—definitely a hunting cry.

Big Ears froze, motioning for Shrimpy and the others to duck behind a dirt mound.

Peering over the top, the first thing they saw was a massive mutated beast. It stood over six and a half feet tall, muscles bulging under its hide, with two long, curved horns jutting from its head. Its four legs were covered in thick white fur.

It was clearly a wild bison.

Its eyes glowed red, nostrils flaring as it panted heavily. The thing was pure power on hooves.

But despite its terrifying appearance, the bison was running for its life, hooves pounding the earth so hard the ground trembled.

Chasing it was a pack of zombies—fast, agile, and radiating bloodlust. Their eyes gleamed with hunger.

To them, the bison wasn’t just meat—it was premium-grade, gourmet flesh.

”Let’s go, boys! It’s slowing down!” shouted the lead zombie, a shirtless Zombie King with rolls of fat jiggling as he ran. His massive belly bounced with every step.

Clearly a brute-force type, this Zombie King wasn’t built for speed. He was playing the long game—waiting for the bison to wear out.

”Holy cow! Is that a wild bison?!” Shrimpy’s eyes lit up as he stood up in excitement. Next to shrimp, bison was his favorite delicacy.

Big Ears yanked him back down. ”Keep your damn head down! You wanna get spotted?!”

”Oh, right, right…” Shrimpy quickly ducked back behind the mound, lying flat.

Up ahead, the white-limbed bison was clearly running out of steam. Its pace slowed, legs wobbling. The chubby Zombie King saw his chance and surged forward, then launched himself into the air.

He looked like a giant meatball with limbs as he flew through the air, jaws wide open, and sank his teeth into the bison’s hind leg.

”Moooooo!” The bison let out a tortured scream, kicking wildly to shake him off.

But the Chonk Zombie King was just too damn heavy—like a wrecking ball with legs. The bison couldn’t move properly with that kind of weight dragging it down.

That was all the opening the others needed. More elite zombies leapt onto the bison’s back, biting and tearing into its flesh.

In seconds, the mutated bison was swarmed, its cries of pain echoing across the plain. It staggered, then collapsed with a thunderous crash, dead.

The Chonk Zombie King didn’t stop. With a savage twist, he snapped the bison’s neck like it was nothing. Warm blood gushed out like a fountain, and he drank deep, his face a mask of primal fury.

The hunt was over. They’d won.

Shrimpy and the others watched with envy written all over their faces. ”Damn… they’re gonna feast on bison.”

”Hmph! So what? It’s just a cow. It’s not like we’ve never had one before,” Big Ears scoffed, though he discreetly wiped a bit of drool from the corner of his mouth.

Watching those zombies take down the bison brought back a weird memory—of that time in San Diego when Zombie King Bighead went all out chasing a chicken…

But now—it was go time.

”Let’s do this!” Big Ears barked.

”On it!” Shrimpy replied, already scooping up a hefty rock from the ground. With a grunt, he swung his arm like a catapult and hurled it forward with serious force.

The rock sliced through the air with a sharp whoosh, arcing perfectly before slamming right into the Chonk Zombie King’s skull.

Thunk!

”Wha—? Who the hell threw that?!” Chonk Zombie King had just been about to dig into his hard-earned bison steak when the rock cracked him in the head. His eyes flared with rage.

He whipped around, glaring in the direction the rock had come from.

And there they were—Big Ears and his crew, standing tall atop the dirt mound, no longer bothering to hide.

Shrimpy even had the audacity to curl a finger at him.

”Come on, big guy. Let’s see what you got.”

”???” Chonk Zombie King’s face twisted in disbelief. Were these punks serious? Not only did they bean him in the head, now they were standing there taunting him?

His fury exploded. He let out a thunderous roar.

”Kill them! Tear them apart!”

”RAAAHHH—!”

The zombies behind him, still slick with bison blood, instantly snapped into attack mode. They abandoned their meal and charged the hill like a pack of rabid wolves.

The air turned thick with bloodlust, the ground trembling under the stampede.

Big Ears didn’t flinch. In fact, he looked almost relieved.

”Whew. Good thing they didn’t get scared off by how badass we are.”

”Time to run?” Shrimpy asked, already turning.

”Time to run,” Big Ears confirmed.

And just like that, the Overlord Squad did what they did best—booked it.

They bolted in the direction of the Genesis Biotech camp, not at full speed, though. They made sure to slow down just enough to keep the Canadian zombies on their tail.

Chonk Zombie King led the charge, his massive body jiggling with every thunderous step. He was gaining on them fast—less than fifty feet now.

”These weaklings dared to mess with me? I’ll crush them!” he snarled, pushing himself harder, just like he had with the bison.

When he got within thirty feet, he launched himself forward like a wrecking ball with legs, flying through the air in a full-body tackle.

But just then, Mist glanced back over his shoulder. He saw the airborne blob of zombie rage coming straight at them—and smiled.

Everything was going exactly to plan.

Dark smoke began to swirl around Mist, thick and fast. In seconds, a black fog erupted from his body, rolling out like a tidal wave.

Daylight vanished.

It was like someone had flipped a switch—bright noon turned to pitch-black night in an instant.

Chonk Zombie King’s eyes went wide—then blind.

He missed his target completely and slammed face-first into the dirt with a wet splat, his flabby body bouncing like a dropped sack of meat.

”Wh-what the hell?! Why is it so dark?!”

”Boss! I can’t see anything!” the other elite zombies shouted in panic, stumbling blindly through the sudden darkness.

Meanwhile, Big Ears and the crew had already reached the edge of the black fog, where a hidden pit yawned open in the earth.

One by one, they dove in like Olympic divers, vanishing into the underground tunnel system without a trace...
