Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

The dozen or so Flame Wolves in the front stumbled and fell straight into the sand pits, even causing the wolves behind them to collide. This was the caravan’s first line of defense.

This distance was already within the attack range of ranged Gu Masters. The Shan Family Gu Masters activated Fire Line Gu and Stone Throwing Gu, sending out fire lines and huge rocks crashing down.

Boom! A loud explosion spread, and the Flame Wolf pack was torn apart, with blood and bones flying everywhere. About a quarter of them died.

Through the smoke, four Fierce Flame Wolf kings avoided the pits and charged toward the camp.

Another round of fire and earth attacks followed, and Lin Yan also made his move.

However, the Fierce Flame Wolves had their own Gu. Their crimson fur moved, and a red light gathered on their bodies, forming a layer of fire armor. The attacks landed but had no effect.

Seeing this, Shan Shayuan said, ”It’s Rank 2 Fire Armor Gu.”

The Gu Masters in the caravan became tense. Facing four beast kings, they tried to attack, but the wolves were too fast, and most attacks missed.

Buzz buzz buzz!

Lin Yan held his breath and kept pointing forward. Crimson fire lines flashed through the air and struck one of the beast kings that had no defensive Gu, leaving charred marks on its red fur.

He was one of the few Gu Masters who could hit a beast king accurately. For some reason, as he watched the charging Flame Wolves, their speed didn’t feel fast at all. He could clearly follow their movements and even predict where they would dodge.

”After fighting so many stronger opponents, dealing with this feels much easier.”

Lin Yan understood this, but he also knew his cultivation was still too low. His Gu were limited and lacked enough power to seriously threaten a beast king.

Hmm?

Shan Shayuan noticed this and narrowed his eyes slightly. He thought it was just luck. After all, it could be beginner’s luck.

At the same time, Lin Yan’s thoughts shifted. A new idea came to him. He calmed himself and focused completely on the beast king with weaker defense.

At that moment, he entered a strange state. The movements of the huge Flame Wolf seemed to slow down, becoming clear in his eyes.

”Now it’s time.”

Just as the beast king was about to land from mid-air, Lin Yan decisively activated the Sand Pit Gu.

Buzz buzz, the Fierce Flame Wolf’s front paws stepped straight into the suddenly collapsing sand pit. Its body lost balance and tilted forward, its speed slowing for a moment.

Lin Yan immediately used the Fire Line Gu. A fire line shot out and, at the right moment, hit the wolf’s eye. The heat burned through the pupil and went straight into its brain.

Awoo!

The Fierce Flame Wolf king let out a painful howl. Its body rolled forward several times, then twitched on the ground and could no longer stand up.

Shan Shayuan was shocked. Shan Xia, who had been watching and ready to act, was also surprised. The Gu Masters in the caravan reacted at once, shouting in excitement.

”Haha, it worked.” Lin Yan felt his spirit rise, a sense of confidence growing inside him. No matter how strong a body was, without the right Gu, the eyes and brain were still weak points.

He had planned this. Hitting such a large target was easy, but hitting a specific point was difficult. So he used Sand Pit Gu to slow it down, turning it into an easy target, then aimed for a fatal strike and finished it in one move.

In his dream training, he had used this method many times against his uncle. Of course, this success also depended on Fire Line Gu itself—fast, strong, and quiet, along with a bit of luck.

”Good boy, you’re a genius!” Shan Shayuan shouted with surprise and joy. It seemed that Lin Yan’s earlier hits on the beast king were not just luck.

At this moment, the battle became urgent. One beast king had already died, and another was heavily injured, but two were still charging straight into the camp.

Shan Shayuan had no time to speak to Lin Yan and acted at once. He activated the Rank 3 Rock Wall Gu.

With a rumble, the ground shook as he raised his hand. A thick, earth-yellow rock wall rose from the sand, about ten feet high and several meters wide, blocking the two beast kings.

Thump! Thump!

The two Fierce Flame Wolves slammed into the wall and became dizzy. Shan Shayuan immediately followed up, using Iron Sand Gu and Sand Manipulation Gu.

A black light spread across the ground, then a yellow light covered a wide area. The sand quickly turned dark and hard like iron, then began to move.

In the next moment, the iron sand rose and formed chains, tightly binding the two beast kings. Sharp spikes formed and pierced into their bodies, damaging them from inside.

While they were trapped, the other Gu Masters attacked together. Under the combined attacks, the two beasts were quickly killed.

After that, Shan Shayuan stopped and let the others deal with the remaining wolves. The battle was soon under control.

Shan Xia walked over and said, ”As expected of Shan Shayuan. One move decided the battle.”

Shan Xia then looked at Lin Yan and said, ”Your nephew’s combat talent is impressive. A Rank 1 Gu Master was able to kill a beast king, and in such a short time, his control over Fire Line Gu has already become very good.”

Shan Shayuan replied calmly, ”It’s nothing special. He can’t compare to you, leader. At your age, you can already lead a caravan across so many deserts.”

Lin Yan also remained calm and said, ”I should thank the leader for the Liquor Worm. Without it, the Fire Line Gu alone wouldn’t have been enough to break through the beast king’s skull.”
