Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 242: Chapter 242: I’m Joining the Stain Sect

Lü Yang was in no hurry to find Ye Guyue.

After all, Ye Guyue was not weak. He had only managed to injure and repel her before because of Sui Ying’s presence, which allowed him to succeed with a sneak attack amidst the chaos.

Now, without Sui Ying to tie her down, and with Ye Guyue aware of his Star Concealment ability, she would certainly be on guard. It would be difficult to achieve anything significant again. Therefore, rather than seeking out Ye Guyue, Lü Yang focused his attention on this Blessed Land Fragment, planning to wait for his prey to walk into a trap.

The result was just as he had expected.

’This Blessed Land Fragment is also gradually collapsing,’ he thought. ’It’s only because Perfected Chong Guang used his Great Magical Power to hold it together that it’s much more stable than the others.’

Its nature was the same as the previous Blessed Land.

As time passed, it would begin to collapse from the periphery, crumbling step by step toward the center and forcing everyone to head there.

’The exit is also at the center.’

That being the case, what needed to be done was simple.

Lü Yang directly summoned Embracing Mountain, planting it firmly to suppress the exit of the Blessed Land Fragment. Then he began to set up an Array in the surrounding area.

This way, Ye Guyue had only two ways to leave the Blessed Land Fragment. She could either force her way out, but that would inevitably trigger a backlash from the fragment, a price not worth paying. Or she could engage Lü Yang in direct Combat, kill him, and then leave safely through the exit.

Lü Yang actually preferred that she choose the first option.

Because if she chose to force her way out of the Blessed Land Fragment, she would surely be severely injured afterward. Lü Yang could then hunt her down with a one hundred percent chance of capturing her alive.

However, Ye Guyue had also anticipated this.

’...Forcing my way out is not an option. The only thing to do now is to break the Array!’

Ye Guyue’s beautiful eyes were cold as she stared fixedly at Lü Yang on the mountain. She felt her Sword Heart and Sword Intent blaring warnings, causing her delicate body to tremble slightly.

Had it been anyone else, she might have already sent her sword flying to strike them down. But facing Lü Yang, Ye Guyue remained calm. Besides, an Array was a means to borrow the Power of Heaven and Earth, allowing the weak to defeat the strong. Lü Yang’s Cultivation was already comparable to hers; the risk of rashly entering the Array was simply too great.

At this thought, Ye Guyue immediately shifted her gaze. ”Fellow Daoist Duobao, I’ll have to trouble you to make a trip.”

Upon hearing this, the Duo Bao Child was stunned. He then quickly shook his head. ”With my meager Cultivation, won’t I be courting certain death if I enter the Array!”

”This is precisely your Karma.”

Ye Guyue nodded and said matter-of-factly, ”To die breaking the Array for our sake would be a great Merit. After you are reincarnated, I will grant you the position of a True Disciple.”

”...”

The Duo Bao Child was furious. ’What the hell do I need your position of True Disciple for? My Great Dao is already set, and I can’t possibly use the Sword Pavilion’s methods for my Foundation Establishment!’

’To truly integrate into the Sword Pavilion, become one of its Direct Disciples, and achieve Foundation Establishment through its methods, I’d probably have to wait until my fifth reincarnation, after my Soul and True Spirit have been completely cleansed by the Power of Reincarnation. But by then, I wouldn’t be me anymore! I’d be a new consciousness. What meaning would that have for me?’

Thinking of this, the Duo Bao Child immediately spoke up.

”If you want me to brave the Array, fine. But first, return the Immortal Tree to me. If I have that Spiritual Material to protect myself, I’ll have a somewhat better chance of surviving inside.”

”Ridiculous!”

At these words, Yun Zhiqiu was immediately displeased. He hurriedly said, ”The Spiritual Material is one thing, but this is another. How can you lump them together, Fellow Daoist?”

”You are now one of us in the Righteous Dao; naturally, you must shoulder the great responsibility of Exorcism and Protection of the Dao!”

The Duo Bao Child immediately retorted, ”Then why don’t you go, Fellow Daoist?”

’Are you kidding? How could I go!’

Yun Zhiqiu knew full well that Lü Yang’s reputation was thunderously famous to him—because his own ancestor had died at Lü Yang’s hands!

He recalled that year: first, his ancestor had risked his life in a desperate struggle only to be killed by Lü Yang. Then, his own family’s prodigy, Yun Miaozhen, had died on the Seizing Dao Battlefield, leaving the Yun Family in turmoil... If he hadn’t struck heavenly luck and chanced upon a great opportunity, unexpectedly breaking through to Foundation Establishment, the Yun Family would probably have long since vanished into thin air.

Under these circumstances, how could he dare to fight Lü Yang?

”My Cultivation is still low!”

Yun Zhiqiu said in a low voice, ”If I enter the Array, even if I die, it would be difficult to probe the Array’s power. But it would be different if you went, Fellow Daoist.”

The Duo Bao Child fell completely silent at his words.

He had no choice but to turn his head and look at Ye Guyue. ”Fellow Daoist, do you really intend for me to go break the Array empty-handed?”

Ye Guyue pondered for a moment upon hearing this, then shook her head. ”If I were to lend you the Immortal Tree and you died, wouldn’t the Spiritual Material be lost?”

”In that case, not only would we fail to break the Array, but we would also be arming the enemy.”

At this thought, Ye Guyue made her decision. ”You should go empty-handed, Fellow Daoist. It matters not if you die. In the future, I will naturally guide your soul back.”

”...Fine.”

The Duo Bao Child said no more. He turned, summoned a Flying Light, and flew into Embracing Mountain. Upon finding the Array’s gate, he charged straight in without a second word.

Seeing this, Lü Yang immediately smiled. ”Isn’t this Fellow Daoist Duobao? It’s been a while.”

”Yuan Tu...” The Duo Bao Child’s expression was equally complicated.

As his voice fell, the Myriad-Soul Banner appeared in his hand. With a powerful shake, it instantly stirred the surrounding Spirit Light, and countless Banner Spirits surged out to occupy the Array’s core.

”Blood Sea Heaven-Filling Grand Array!”

The next second, a sky full of bloody light intertwined and transformed into ocean waves. Layer upon layer of these waves surged, filling the heavens and covering the earth, forming a monstrous Sea of Blood!

Once this Array was unfurled, there were no profound or mystical transformations. It simply overwhelmed people with sheer quantity, using the boundless blood waves to crush the Mana of anyone who entered. If Lü Yang were powering it with his own Mana, there might have been a limit, but he was using the Array to intercept a portion of the Blessed Land Fragment’s power.

This way, the Mana for the Array’s operation was supplied by the Blessed Land Fragment.

The result was that his Mana was not depleted in the slightest, while those who entered the Array had to face the monstrous Sea of Blood and fight him. With one side’s power waning while the other’s grew, how could they possibly be his match?

Not to mention, he was also using Embracing Mountain to bolster the Array.

Therefore, each blood wave, though it looked like a thin layer, was actually heavier than mountains and rivers. It suppressed Spiritual Qi, making escape impossible without expending a great deal of Mana.

Besides, he had other tricks up his sleeve.

Thinking of this, Lü Yang took the Soul-Devouring Gourd from his waist. He held it in his palm, channeling Mana into it, and then cast it into the center of the Array.

The next second, billowing smoke poured out from the gourd.

The Soul-Devouring Smoke!

With the addition of this smoke, the blood waves within the Array gained an ability to shake the Soul, making a bad situation even worse for anyone who entered.

Seeing this, the Duo Bao Child no longer hesitated in the slightest.

Without a moment’s hesitation, the Duo Bao Child dropped to his knees. He raised his hands high, dispersed his Mana, and shouted, ”This lowly one, Duo Bao, is willing to surrender to the Saint Sect!”

”I beg you, my lord, to show mercy and spare my life!”

Who was the Duo Bao Child? He was someone who had been robbed by a Saint Sect Zhenren once and held a grudge for most of his life. The thing he hated most in his life was being robbed.

And now he had been robbed again by the Sword Pavilion. He was already filled with a resentment he could barely contain. On top of that, his Merit and Fortune had been scraped completely clean by Perfected Chong Guang, and he hadn’t had time to accumulate it again. If he died like this, he wouldn’t be able to properly reincarnate for another three to five lifetimes.

’So what’s the point of fighting? I’m joining the Saint Sect!’

Even Lü Yang hadn’t anticipated such a swift and decisive surrender, but he was happy to see it happen. He immediately laughed out loud. ”For you to be willing to submit is a most excellent thing, Fellow Daoist.”

Outside the Array, Ye Guyue’s pretty face sank when she saw this.

She simply couldn’t understand why the Duo Bao Child would turn traitor. She had clearly promised him the Karma of the Sword Pavilion—a blessing countless people could only dream of.

In the end, all she could do was let out a cold snort.

”...He’s a Jiangbei Demon, after all. A leopard can’t change its spots!”
