Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 221: Chapter 221: Duobao, You Really Are an Undercover Agent

”Amitabha!”

At that moment, the three Mighty Virtuous Kings stood shoulder to shoulder. They pressed their palms together, and Buddha Light surged forth like a bursting flood, instantly filling more than half the sky.

For a moment, the earth quaked and the mountains swayed. Myriad splendid lights enveloped the battlefield, giving birth to countless phenomena of sound, color, and form. Pavilions and towers appeared, and the ceaseless sound of chanting filled the air. It was as if the battlefield had been plunged into an ancient Buddhist Temple. Before their eyes stood a towering Ancient Buddha, illuminated by a single green lamp.

The next second, the Ancient Buddha spoke:

”Good, good. My Buddha is merciful. Across hundreds of thousands of millions of worlds, he divides his form to save all beings from their karmic tribulations. All of you are fated to be with our Western Paradise...”

As it spoke, a pair of eyes as large as mountains fixed upon Lü Yang.

”Hahaha!”

Below, Duo Bao Child chanted a Buddha’s Name while a smile spread across his face. The other Perfected Persons from Qing Country were even more excited.

”I can’t believe Duobao actually managed to get the Buddhist Sect involved!”

’I misunderstood him before...’

”A Venerable of the Buddhist Sect, a Great Arhat! With such powerful reinforcement, we can finally crush the Demon Sect and teach these Jiangbei Demons a harsh lesson!”

The next second, the green-lamp Ancient Buddha took a step forward.

Five Elements Zhenren, Duo Bao Child, the Profound Iron Sword Master, and the others followed close behind, their smiles savage. They clearly intended to follow in its wake and beat the dog while it’s down.

Seeing this, Lü Yang simply shook his head and began to form a magic formula.

Celestial Mother’s Birth Profound Light!

”Amitabha. Benefactor Lü, you should stop this futile resistance... Hmm?”

Venerable Weimotuo, who was about to launch into a grand speech, suddenly froze. His expression changed drastically as he watched the white splendid light Lü Yang had scattered fill the sky.

”This is...?!”

Before Venerable Weimotuo could finish, the Yang Qi in the three men’s bodies instantly reversed, transforming them into Taiyin mother-bodies. They stopped abruptly in mid-air.

Then, they exploded violently!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

”AHHH!!!”

Venerable Weimotuo’s screams were instantly drowned out by the explosions. The green-lamp Ancient Buddha vanished without a trace, and the three Mighty Virtuous Kings became three fireworks in the sky.

A hint of delight appeared on Lü Yang’s face. Without a word, he waved his sleeve and collected all the severed limbs of the exploded Mighty Virtuous Kings. He thought about feeding them to the Abi Sword later. ’Perhaps it’ll give the Abi Sword a special attack effect against the Buddhist Sect,’ he mused. ’This is all high-quality material.’

Only then did he turn to look at Duo Bao Child and the others.

He saw that the savage smiles on the faces of Duo Bao Child and his companions were now completely frozen. A moment ago, they had been charging forward right behind Venerable Weimotuo.

But now, Venerable Weimotuo was gone.

In an instant, they found themselves surrounded by the Perfected Persons of the North...

”What are you standing around for? Attack!”

Lü Yang laughed heartily. ”Fellow Daoist Duobao, your contributions have been immense! First you screwed over the Dao Court, then the Sword Pavilion, and now the Pure Land! The Saint Sect will reward you greatly in the future!”

As soon as he said this, looks of sudden realization dawned on everyone’s faces.

”Duobao!!!”

Five Elements Zhenren’s face twisted as he glared at Duo Bao Child again. ”You’re definitely a traitor! Speak! Have you been colluding with the North all along?”

’I see it all now!’

Let’s not even talk about screwing over the Dao Court. If it weren’t for Duo Bao Child, he never would have led the Perfected Persons of Qing Country to be trapped and killed by Lü Yang in the lands North of the River.

As for screwing over the Sword Pavilion... come to think of it, when I suggested that Lü Yang might launch a sneak attack on the Upper Profound Sword Sect, it was Duobao who stood up and said I was worrying for nothing. And what was the result? The Upper Profound Sword Sect was actually wiped out! If I had returned to reinforce them in time, would things have turned out differently?

And screwing over the Pure Land... that’s what just happened.

Look at Venerable Weimotuo! Wasn’t he screwed over miserably enough? Everyone heard the screams of that Great Arhat of the Buddhist Sect, that Venerable of the Pure Land...

Thinking of this, Five Elements Zhenren was filled with a rage that had nowhere to go. ”You beast! You animal!”

Duo Bao Child: ”...”

’I’m not! I didn’t! I’ve been framed!’

Though he had a thousand words to say, Duo Bao Child was in no mood to speak. He didn’t even understand why Venerable Weimotuo had disappeared.

’How could he have lost?’

But one thing was very clear to him... he really wasn’t a spy for the Saint Sect. If he stayed here any longer, he would surely die without a proper burial!

Meanwhile, Perfected Yin Shan looked on in amazement. To be honest, when Venerable Weimotuo appeared, he had already given up hope. Who would have thought that Lü Yang wouldn’t even fight him directly, but would simply use a strange Daoist Skill to effortlessly destroy his opponent’s technique?

At the same time, the Perfected Persons of the North were fired up.

After Lü Yang’s previous generous rewards, they all knew that for every Perfected Person from Qing Country they managed to keep here, they would receive another share of the benefits.

What else was there to say?

”Kill!”

In an instant, the Qing Country forces collapsed like a landslide. All the Foundation-Stage Cultivators scattered and fled, each using their own Abilities, while the Qi Refining Disciples were mercilessly slaughtered.

Dragon-Crushing Pass had fallen!

...

「Half a day later, the dust had settled.」

Lü Yang stood atop Dragon-Crushing Pass, thinking to himself:

’With Dragon-Crushing Pass broken, Qing Country’s monopoly on Spiritual Qi is also broken. Strictly speaking, my mission from Perfected Chong Guang is already complete...’

’After all, Perfected Chong Guang didn’t tell me to march south and annihilate Qing Country in one fell swoop. He wanted me to apply as much external pressure as possible. Now that Dragon-Crushing Pass has fallen, the path south to Qing Country’s national capital is wide open. That’s enough to throw the entire nation into a state of panic.’

’Unfortunately, I have a new mission now.’

Thinking of this, Lü Yang once again took out the Formless Sword. The hidden Gold Attribute and Divine Effect within the sword were constantly reminding him of what he had to do next.

Assassinate the King.

As expected, this was the second task Perfected Chong Guang had given him.

’Assassinate Prince Qing... He’s really asking for the impossible.’

Lü Yang shook his head. How could Prince Qing be so easy to kill? Not only was he surrounded by layers of guards and countless Arrays, but he was also empowered by a Mighty Power.

’Unless Prince Qing leaves the national capital and comes running over here all by himself.’

’Otherwise, as long as he stays inside that Imperial Palace, it would be difficult for me to even sneak in. Even if the Formless Sword could break through his protective measures, it would be useless.’

After a moment of thought, Lü Yang decided to set the matter aside for now.

’Since Perfected Chong Guang gave me this mission, he must have considered this point and prepared a corresponding plan. The time just isn’t right yet.’

’Take this Venerable from the Pure Land, for example...’

Lü Yang suspected that the Pure Land had most likely been set up by World Purger Fei Xue!

’Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence? A Venerable of the Pure Land just happens to show up, and he just happens to be countered by a Daoist Skill I just happened to obtain from the Dharma Hall...’

Just thinking about it sent a chill down Lü Yang’s spine.

The next second, with a flick of his hand, Lü Yang took out the severed limbs of the three Mighty Virtuous Kings he had previously transformed into female bodies and caused to self-destruct.

To Lü Yang’s disappointment, however, the power of the three Mighty Virtuous Kings had all come from Venerable Weimotuo of the Pure Land. As Venerable Weimotuo withdrew his power, the so-called Mighty Virtuous Kings revealed their true forms—they were actually just some kind of medium for his descent.

Without their master behind the scenes, they were nothing.

Therefore, even if he used the Abi Sword to slay all three of them, he wouldn’t get any feedback. Storing them in the Myriad-Soul Banner would just be a waste of a Banner Spirit’s slot.

However, Lü Yang’s efforts were not entirely fruitless.

”This is...”

Looking at the severed limbs scattered on the ground, Lü Yang’s gaze shifted, landing on the Pure Land Scriptures that had been inscribed on the bodies of the Mighty Virtuous Kings when they were alive.

He swept the area with his Divine Sense, and the scriptures were quickly pieced together.

Its name was:

”Conversion to the Right Path?”

Lü Yang gave it a quick read and finally understood the scripture’s function. In short, this scripture could summon the spiritual perception of a Pure Land Venerable to descend!

This so-called ”Conversion to the Right Path” was a True Skill specially created by the Pure Land for its external agents. They used it to entice and recruit more people to join the Pure Land. By chanting the scripture, they could summon the spiritual perception of a Pure Land Venerable to descend and grant Enlightenment to Cultivators, turning them into Monks of the Pure Land.

Seeing this, Lü Yang’s eyes suddenly lit up.

’This thing... seems like it could be used as bait, doesn’t it?’
