Ning An's Wild Wish System

”Snake... snake meat?!”

Ning An’s eyes widened, and he tentatively asked, ”Was it just killed today?”

”Yes.”

Elder Shi replied softly, but seeing Ning An about to flee, he quickly grabbed him and explained:

”Not the poisonous cobra, it’s the harmless grass snake.”

”We’ve eaten it at noon and are still alive and well, don’t worry.”

Fearless people!

Ning An turned around and looked at these eager scientists, feeling a bit embarrassed.

But the matter had already reached this point, and they even tested the poison in advance for the sake of the test subject. He could only brace himself, pick up a piece of snake meat, and swallow it.

”Uh... hmm? Hmm!”

Ning An’s initially resistant expression completely relaxed as the snake meat entered his mouth, his eyes suddenly widening as if he’d never tasted such freshness before.

”Hehe, did you feel the bouncy texture, full of meatiness?”

Elder Shi released him with a smile and said, ”You silly boy, did you think I would harm you? Nevermind anything else, snake meat is tender and delicious, historically documented as ’used in delicacies,’ not to mention the taste after mutation.”

Then, Elder Shi waved his hand, and several researchers brought up a dozen more plates.

Snake soup, raw snake slices, snake skin jelly, snakehead salad...

You could say that every method in Dragon Country for preparing snake meat was included here.

”Xiaoning, these things are just a little favor I need from you.”

Elder Shi said with a smile, ”Previously, the Grotto Heaven Blessed Land concept you proposed, with its red, orange, and yellow tiers, can roughly illustrate the extent of Spiritual Qi, but it’s not precise enough.”

Ning An nodded as he finally understood, ”Got it, you’re aiming to refine the Spiritual Qi concentration more precisely.”

Elder Shi slapped his thigh and laughed, ”You truly understand me, Xiaoning! In the future, we can’t rely on rough estimates to explore our path; thus, for Spiritual Qi concentration classification, we must have a unified standard. The concentration standard should be simple and easy to understand, directly using Arabic numerals, with the basic concentration set as one!”

”This is a good idea.”

After pondering a bit, Ning An agreed the suggestion was indeed good, and curiously asked: ”So what reference are you planning to use to establish the base?”

Everyone was speechless; only Elder Shi was smiling. He pushed a plate of raw snake slices to Ning An and said, ”Let this be the base.”

Walt?

Ning An was about to widen his eyes, but quickly relaxed his expression.

To establish a base, a fundamental reference is needed.

And these scientists, who can’t detect or capture Spiritual Qi, need something tangible to set a base, and the best way for now is to use this touchable snake.

Once the path is set, even if it’s rough, subsequent work becomes much easier.

”Alright, let this be the base then.”

Ning An didn’t feel insulted; he happily picked up chopsticks, grabbed a slice, and swallowed it with delight.

The freshness and taste lingered, Ning An felt his tongue almost swallowing down, and he couldn’t help but praise, ”After having mushroom and snake stew, even the Emperor is no match for me.”

Subsequently, he ate another bite very contentedly.

”Daoist Ning, could you kindly provide us with some data while you’re eating?” A young man ready to record on the side asked with a worried look.

”No problem, hoo hoo hoo~~”

Mid-sentence, he swallowed another piece of snake slice.

Ning An carefully sensed the Spiritual Qi contained in the snake piece, which was negligible for him, but for ordinary people who haven’t embarked on the cultivation path, might just be an overly nourishing poison.

”Judging by the Spiritual Qi concentration of this snake slice, let’s assume it’s one.”

Ning An grabbed a ladle, savoring and said, ”This snake soup’s Spiritual Qi concentration remains almost unchanged, retaining about ninety percent.”

”Who made this cold snake skin? Next time, use less vinegar; I can’t handle this sourness, the Spiritual Qi concentration is only about fifty percent of the base.”

”This jelly has a nice texture, but it retains too little Spiritual Qi, less than thirty percent.”

”Elder Shi, when frying snake meat slices next time, you might want to use a bit less soy sauce. It looks dark and messy, although it’s tasty, it does affect the appetite; the Spiritual Qi retains about sixty percent.”

...

Soon, Ning An tried all the dishes in the snake feast, and Elder Shi, seeing his assistant had recorded everything in detail, clapped his hands again.

”This is the mutated ginseng we found nearby. This medicinal herb thrives in sandy soil that is spacious, breathable, well-drained, fertile; it likes shade, and a cool, moist climate, which fits the surrounding environment perfectly. We found quite a few.”

A female researcher placed a ginseng in front of Ning An, which was larger than a watermelon without roots.

Ning An felt somewhat surprised, as usually ginseng only grows to the size of an apple, already being highly nourishing, let alone this ginseng which rivals a small baby.

Closing his eyes and carefully sensing the Qi fluctuations within the ginseng, Ning An seriously said, ”This Qi concentration can reach 3, even 3.1.”

Then, various items were handed over for Ning An to gauge their Qi concentration.

There were cobra teeth, nearby vegetation, and suspected mutant plants from other teams elsewhere.

Sensing tirelessly, the researchers recorded in a muddled state.

But it couldn’t be helped.

No matter how advanced current science and technology are, how precise experimental equipment is, Spiritual Qi can’t be detected or captured, making everything futile!
