Ning An's Wild Wish System

Chapter 88: Chapter 82: Cutting in Line to Offer Incense—In a Hurry to Be Sacrificed?

The live streaming audience couldn’t help but feel regret.

Other pilgrims with a comedic spirit likely won’t be able to fulfill their wishes.

Like the duckbill cap man, or Aluf who’s cursed with bad luck, or Brother Lao Tuo who’s fast-tracked through worldly troubles.

If these guys could, they’d probably be eager to come back and interact warmly with Ning An.

Mainly, their hearts are willing but their abilities are lacking.

The duckbill hat was taken away by the military, doomed to a lifetime in prison, and dreaming of release is likely only possible in the next life.

As for Brother Lao Tuo?

He might be able to fulfill his wish eighteen years later, provided Meng Po adds a little more water.

Aluf has the best chance to come back and fulfill his wish, but...

He probably doesn’t have the face to see people in this life, or he might change his nationality soon.

Old Zhao and his son had also completed their wish fulfillment, thanking profusely before leaving happily.

After Old Zhao and his son left, the area in front of the Prayer Hall resumed as usual.

Just when Ning An thought it was another ordinary day, a sudden commotion in the queue of pilgrims caught Ning An’s attention.

”What’s wrong with you? Can’t you see everyone is in line?”

”I just don’t like queuing, what can you do about it!”

Weaving through the crowd, a bald middle-aged man with a fierce expression swung his fist, ready to strike at the person who spoke up.

”Hmm?”

Seeing Ning An approach, the surrounding pilgrims erupted into anger.

”Little Daoist, look at him, he’s being unreasonable. He was at the back of the line, but insists on cutting. If we don’t let him cut, he’d hit people.”

”Cutting in line?”

Ning An was speechless.

What kind of situation is this?

All these years, he’d never seen anyone fight to offer incense first.

In a hurry to be sacrificed by the system?

He stepped forward, effortlessly gripping the bald man’s arm. Despite the bulging veins on his face, the man couldn’t move an inch.

In contrast, Ning An remained calm, as if he were merely holding onto an immobile plastic model.

”Sir, this is a Taoist sacred place. When making a wish, you should be peaceful in mind, or risk displeasing the immortals above, making it difficult to fulfill your wish.”

Looking at the surrounding pilgrims, Ning An asked, ”What’s going on here?”

”This guy insists on cutting in line. Who wants to let him rush ahead? Everyone’s been waiting here since early morning. But he charges forward like crazy, is he even human?”

After understanding the situation, Ning An turned back: ”Is that so?”

The bald man looked at Ning An with doubt, pulling back his arm, but his tone remained fierce as he pursed his lips:

”Everyone saw it. The Daoist handled me physically; look at how my arm’s bruised.”

”I’m asking if that’s the case? Everyone saw you hitting someone. If we call the police, you’d be the first one detained, right? Our Daoist Temple offers free reporting services, do you need it?”

The bald man glared at Ning An, feeling embarrassed but not daring to act out.

The way Ning An mediated earlier made him realize this Little Daoist is quite uncanny!

Just as the situation was at a stalemate, a tall, lanky fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy walked over, head down, wearing a mask and spoke timidly:

”Dad, let’s just queue up. What you’re doing is wrong.”

”Damn it, how did I give birth to such a cowardly kid like you? Grew so tall for nothing. I want to cut in line, and it’s all because of you...”

The bald man kept ranting, but Ning An interrupted: ”Your child is here too. Are you sure you want to continue causing trouble?”

The surrounding pilgrims also chimed in along with Ning An.

”Yeah, the child is here too, is this how you set an example?”

”This is a Daoist Temple, accustomed to flaunting authority at home? No one will indulge you here.”

Amid boos, the bald man sheepishly brought the boy to queue.

Ning An returned to the incense table, while incense offerings continued, and the live streaming audience was in uproar.

”Wow! Brother Sect Leader is so fierce. A person so hard to deal with, Brother easily took him down. You’re undoubtedly the Lord of Sichuan and Chongqing!”

”It’s incredible! Such a sturdy person, but Little Daoist so slender, easily blocked him, is Uncle Liu reborn?”

”How about changing your surname to Liu, Brother Sect Leader? Then follow me: For all living beings, the golden knife predicts... ”

While the audience was shocked by Ning An’s beast-like physique.

Ning An had already used the Five Ghosts Transport Skill to examine this father and son pair.

Upon seeing this, Ning An was puzzled.

Never mind the baldy looks fierce and ready to hit people, but positions of blessing, salary, longevity, wealth, and other proper gods were stable, and could even barely be considered a minor good person.

The Life Chart is a combination of innate and acquired, it won’t be wrong.

Since that’s the case, why did this bald man suddenly become agitated today and lose control of himself?

Turning to check the boy’s Life Chart, Ning An understood a bit better.

Blessing, salary, and wealth three proper gods were normal, but the proper god overseeing longevity was already shaky.

And the strangest thing.

This kid, has no romance in his fate...

If nothing goes wrong, he won’t have a wife in this life, perhaps not even a girlfriend.

But, a faint gray line emerged, falling amongst the crowd.

Seeing this.

Ning An felt he was starting to make sense of things.

But since it was momentarily unclear, he decided not to overthink. The system would eventually enlighten him.

He chose to be a quiet mascot, happily discussing life with the streaming audience.

After an indeterminate amount of time, the bald father and son finally approached the incense burner.

Ning An glanced over, not intending to make things difficult, he handed over the incense for money and handed them three incense sticks.

The bald man naturally handed the lit incense sticks to the boy.

Though clearly in the midst of summer, the temperature was high.

The boy tugged tightly at his collar, mask wrapped securely, making it difficult to see any skin without careful inspection.

Vaguely seeing his face is eerily pale, his body hunched, resembling an old man.

Looking at the incense passed by the bald man, the boy didn’t take it, his eyes instead filled with fear, taking several steps back.

The bald man was about to curse, but remembered setting a good example wasn’t done this way, so he swallowed the words and turned to Ning An, speaking in a muffled voice:

”My son, he’s not convenient for offering incense, can I help him make a wish?”

Seeing the anomalous boy, Ning An was quite intrigued:

”Mind if I ask, what’s his illness?”

The bald man sighed and said:

”Initially, the hospital said it was lung inflammation. I didn’t think much of it, just grabbed some medicine without paying much attention.”

”He came back saying his breathing was getting more difficult, even coughing blood, so I took him to the city for a check-up. Finished this morning, and came to worship in the afternoon before the results came out.”

”The doctors said before the results are out, prepare mentally, most likely tuberculosis, at worst a fungal infection...”

Upon hearing this, the surrounding pilgrims also sighed.

All for the sake of the child, it’s not easy.

”Fungal infection? I remember there was a news report before about a child patient who loved sniffing his girlfriend’s socks, the longer worn the better, the more stinky the better. Eventually led to lung infection, and only discovered upon hospital admission...”
