Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Rebirth

Some young people have already mustered the courage and started glaring at Lin Feng with anger.

Lin Feng scanned his classmates around him. The calm yet indifferent gaze sent chills down the spines of the young people, as if they were being watched by demon beasts.

Lin Feng ignored the threatening gazes around him. These naive kids could never imagine that the goddess in their eyes was extremely realistic, even to the point of being cruel.

This girl, in essence, wasn’t bad, just born ordinary, but with aspirations as high as the sky, not something an average person could handle.

Retracting his thoughts, although still puzzled by his rebirth, at this critical moment, he couldn’t afford to think too much about it.

In his past life, due to the problem with his talent, he didn’t merge with a demon spirit and couldn’t get into one of the Nine Elite Colleges, making his journey very arduous.

Even though he risked death countless times and eventually reached the rank of an Eighth Grade Martial Artist, he lost too much, and Demon Spirit Masters were superior to Martial Artists; there was still a significant gap between them.

Therefore, this time, he must seize the opportunity to change his destiny.

Despite having a deep grudge against that man in white clothes, being able to be reborn on Awakening Day made Lin Feng sigh; that guy sure knew how to pick a day.

If he missed today, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

”Something’s wrong!”

Just as Lin Feng was grateful for the opportunity to change his fate, his expression suddenly changed.

Undoubtedly, that man in white’s gifted ability was to control time, and returning to today was his doing.

But why today?

Why not tomorrow?

Or the day after tomorrow?

But precisely on the once-a-year Awakening Day?

Lin Feng couldn’t help but feel uneasy and doubtful.

He didn’t believe it was a coincidence!

He also didn’t believe it was due to his luck suddenly turning around. Ever since he was young, his luck wasn’t great, without resources, without talent, achieving Eighth Grade Martial Artist was through sheer effort and madness.

There had to be a reason he wasn’t aware of.

Was today’s Awakening Day also significant to that demon beast?

Is that why it came back?

”Could it be nearby?”

Thinking of this, Lin Feng swept his gaze around, his sharp eyes filled with an icy, bone-chilling murderous intent.

The surroundings were filled with his classmates, and the grand stage was filled with prominent figures of Jiang City, yet there was no sign of that man in white.

Demon beasts and humans are different; demon beasts live long lives, and the stronger they are, the longer they live. In just 21 years, that man in white might look a bit younger, but there shouldn’t be much change!

Despite searching for a long time, he still found nothing.

”Brother Feng, what’s wrong?”

Gao Hai’s voice came through, filled with hesitation and fear, and Song of Solomon was the same. Clearly, they were frightened by Lin Feng’s gaze.

They had never seen Lin Feng with such a terrifying expression, as if he would devour someone whole, it was terrifying!

”It’s nothing, just had a nightmare earlier, still a bit groggy.”

Lin Feng shook his head, closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he had already regained his composure.

Since he couldn’t find the man in white, Lin Feng didn’t dwell on it too much; there were still important matters awaiting him.

Lin Feng raised his head to look at the high platform, in the afternoon, the Guardian Jiang Chu glanced at the sky; the blazing sun was overhead, the sky blue as a mirror-smooth lake, without a single cloud in sight.

”Let’s begin.”

Jiang Chu waved an arm, and the crowd waiting on the altar promptly opened round bottles, releasing demon spirits of various colors, each the size of a fist. A closer look revealed they resembled miniature, formless demon beasts, horrified and trying to escape, but drawn by a mysterious force, they flew into the Blue Moon Divine Artifact above.

”The Blue Moon Divine Artifact is starting to take effect, the main event is about to begin.”

The crowd suddenly became excited, discussing in hushed tones.

”Bang.”

With a loud explosion, the 300,000 spectators trembled, instantly turning their attention to Zhongyue Mansion, Jiang City’s tallest building.

At the center of Zhongyue Mansion, a giant light curtain was displaying a video.

Everyone watched intently, the lively discussions abruptly quieting down as the teenagers, who were originally sitting cross-legged, stood up in unison.

Everyone stood straight, their eyes resolute and expressions solemn, placing their left hand on their chest in respect.

The light curtain displayed a series of brutal scenes.

Soldiers in army green uniforms moved through the dense forest, armed with weapons – guns, battle sabers, or long swords – hunting demon beasts to obtain demon spirits.

Among them, a middle-aged man tightly gripped a massive machete, his eyes showing fierce determination as he spun his body.

Around him, three Iron-Scaled Wolves, not large in size but covered in brown scales, circled him, growling incessantly, before finally pouncing on him.

”Iron-Scaled Wolves.”

Though Iron-Scaled Wolves were First Grade demon beasts, categorized as the lowest level, they were pack animals, extremely cunning and adept at ambushes.

Facing them was dangerous for an ordinary Martial Artist.

”Ah...”

A scream echoed as an Iron-Scaled Wolf bit the middle-aged man’s left arm, tearing flesh and revealing white bone, yet the excruciating pain didn’t make him retreat. Instead, he roared, his eyes bloodshot, ignoring the wolf hanging from his left arm, and with a swift motion, he slashed down the wolf attacking from the front. As the wolf died, a light yellow shadow surfaced from its head – the wolf’s demon spirit.

The demon spirit tried to escape upon appearing, but before it flew far, it was captured and put into a transparent bottle, and then the person turned to rescue the middle-aged man.

At this moment, the middle-aged man’s left arm was completely torn apart, blood gushing from the severed arm, his right leg also bitten by another wolf, making the battle even more brutal with the exposed limbs and screams clearly visible on the light curtain.

This wasn’t a movie but a live broadcast.

Even children who were previously unaware and playful could feel the heaviness of the atmosphere, some trembling, crying, and closing their eyes not to see anymore.

This was merely one scene on the light curtain, played for almost half an hour, and though there was no narration or music, it conveyed the brutality.

Furthermore, it made the students present understand that the demon spirits they would refine today were exchanged at the cost of countless soldiers’ lives.

”Everything for humanity!”

On the high platform, the middle-aged man, the Guardian of Jiang City, spoke softly.

The voice wasn’t loud and almost seemed it would be scattered by the wind, yet was exceptionally clear to everyone present.

”For humanity!”

At this moment, the crowd erupted in a frenzied roar.

And with this roar, it quickly spread throughout the city, everyone at work, in class, or watching TV at home, stood straight with their left hand on their chest, shouting.

Even Lin Feng was no exception.

The words ”For humanity” were so vast, but soldiers sacrificing for the country are worthy of respect.

Because, no matter when, soldiers are always at the forefront.

The hunting of demon spirits continued, not stopping due to any injury or death, as the army advanced in a crescent shape from the heart of the forest, forcing demon beasts to surge out toward Jiang City.

As waves of demon beasts poured in like tides, everyone tensed up slightly; this was when the real hunt truly began.

A while later, the clear sky suddenly darkened.

”Awoo...”

”Roar......”

The piercing cries spread throughout Jiang City.

”The demon spirits are attacking the city!”

With an exclamation, an apocalyptic scene appeared before people’s eyes.

Different colored birds, covered in feathers or scales, flapped their wings, rapidly flying towards Jiang City in such numbers that they blocked out the sky, covering the sun.

At the same time, the ground shook violently, and even from a distance, Lin Feng could clearly feel the tremors, as the transparent glass in the sky let out creaking sounds, some even falling directly, but luckily, everyone had gathered in the square and no one was injured.

At this point, everyone flushed with excitement, seeing on the screen a dense, overwhelming swarm of demon beasts rushing towards Jiang City.

Under the soldiers’ hunt, these demon beasts were finally driven outside Jiang City.

Now came the most blood-boiling, thrilling battle.
