A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 683: Chapter 683: I Harmed Her!

In the storage room, there were many bottles of alcohol, and the fire quickly ignited all of them, setting the wooden shelves on fire, too.

Thick smoke filled the surroundings, a woman lay on the ground, struggling.

”Quick, save her!” someone shouted.

Someone rushed in with firefighting equipment to extinguish the fire.

A girl ran to the doorway, looking at the woman on the ground, and shouted loudly, ”Mom!”

She wanted to rush in but was stopped by the people around her.

”Miss, you can’t go in, it’s dangerous.”

”Let me go, let me go, my mom is in there, I need to save her.”

”The fire is too big, if you go in, you’ll be in danger too.”

”I don’t care, I want to save her, I want to save her, please save my mom, save her.”

The firelight reflected on her face, and her once fair face was streaked with tears, her eyes bloodshot, appearing frighteningly desperate.

Suddenly she bit the hand of the person beside her, broke free from their grip, and rushed towards the sea of flames.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t save her mom in the end.

Too much carbon monoxide inhalation, her mom suffocated and died.

In the hospital, the girl held her mom’s hand, repeatedly calling, ”Mom, wake up, it’s Yanyan.”

”Mom, I’m back, look at me, I know I was wrong, I shouldn’t have talked to you like that.”

”Mom, don’t ignore me, Yanyan really knows she was wrong.”

No matter how many times she called, her mom never responded to her again.

She held her mom’s hand, her eyes misty with tears, helpless and in despair, ”Mom, don’t you want me anymore?”

At that moment, she felt as if the sky had fallen.

There would no longer be anyone in this world to cook delicious meals for her, to hold her as she slept, to shield her from the storm.

She had lost her mom, she had lost hope!

In the room, Jiang Jingheng sat by the bed, holding Mu Yan’s hand, his expression somber.

She had been asleep for a day, and still hadn’t woken up, he was very worried.

”Don’t worry, Young Master Jiang, your wife is physically fine and will wake up soon,” the doctor said after the examination.

Jiang Jingheng nodded, ”Thank you.”

The doctor nodded and then left.

Jiang Jingheng thought of her countless calls throughout the day, ”Mom, don’t go.” That voice was filled with extreme despair.

He lifted his hand and gently touched Mu Yan’s cheek, softly saying, ”Don’t be afraid, I will always be by your side.”

Mu Yan was indeed physically fine, and in the evening, she finally woke up.

She looked at the ceiling above her, thought of the dream she just had, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.

It all seemed to have happened just yesterday, she no longer had her mom.

Jiang Jingheng came in with a glass of water, and saw her staring at the ceiling with open eyes.

His hand, holding the glass, trembled slightly, causing some water to spill onto the floor.

He walked over with a calm expression, as if she had never been ill, as if everything was back to normal.

”You’re awake, are you thirsty? I made you a cup of honey water, have some.”

Mu Yan looked at the approaching man, and in an instant, all her sorrow poured out, tears flowed uncontrollably.

Jiang Jingheng immediately put the glass on the table, pulled her into his arms, and softly asked, ”What’s wrong? Don’t cry.”

Mu Yan held him, sobbing uncontrollably.

”I caused Mom’s death.”

”No, your mom’s death has nothing to do with you,” Jiang Jingheng tried to console her.

”No, it does!” Mu Yan cried even harder, ”She had already planned to resign from that place, if it wasn’t for helping me gather money to study abroad, she wouldn’t have continued working there, she wouldn’t have encountered that fire, it’s all my fault she died.”
