A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 600: Chapter 600: Perfunctory

Early the next morning, Mu Yan went to the film set.

Today there was an opening ceremony, photos needed to be taken for character appearance, and a few scenes to be filmed in the afternoon.

After the photo session, Mu Yan went to the director’s side to listen to him discuss the scenes.

Beside the director sat the male lead, Leng Hao, thirty-five years old, a famous martial arts star in the country, who had been in the industry for years. He rose to fame through TV dramas and later moved to the big screen specializing in tough guy roles with remarkable success.

Additionally, he and his wife were a model couple in the industry with a good public image.

Mu Yan sat nearby, listening to Leng Hao chat with Director Jiao, feeling a bit nervous.

This time, she was challenging a mature woman role and had to act opposite a man like Leng Hao, whose acting skills rival those of a film emperor. She was originally confident, but suddenly started to feel unsure.

Leng Hao suddenly looked over and smiled, ”Captain, please give me your guidance.”

”I’m the one who should be asking for your guidance.” Mu Yan replied politely.

Leng Hao didn’t respond. In fact, he was not at ease with the casting choice of such a young actress for the female lead.

So far, he hadn’t seen any qualities in her that matched the character.

However, having been in the industry for many years, he had the basic professionalism.

Mu Yan sat for a while before going back to the resting area to review the script.

Leng Hao watched Mu Yan’s departure and asked Director Jiao, ”Can this actress really pull off Dai Qing?”

”What, you think she’s too young?” Director Jiao laughed.

Leng Hao raised his eyebrows, saying nothing, which was a silent agreement.

Director Jiao laughed: ”Initially, I had similar concerns, but Director Chen told me she could do it.”

Director Chen, Chen Zhou? Leng Hao’s expression shifted slightly as he asked, ”What is their relationship?”

This was a suspicion that Mu Yan had gotten the role through connections.

”No particular relationship, it’s just that Director Chen’s wife really likes her. But I’ve also watched her films; she’s a very talented actress,” Director Jiao replied, ”Don’t worry, you’ll see once we start filming.”

”Hmm.” Leng Hao nodded.

In the resting area, Mu Yan finally felt her nerves ease a bit.

The demands on an actor in films are completely different from those in TV dramas. She could see that Leng Hao had doubts about her abilities, so she had to prove herself.

The afternoon was filled with Leng Hao’s scenes, during which she studied from the sidelines.

True to his reputation as an A-list actor, Leng Hao perfectly embodied the male lead, Zhao Han, with his arrogance, ambition, and patriotism.

The kickoff went smoothly, leaving a hint of satisfaction on Director Jiao’s face.

After all, this movie had been in preparation for so long, it couldn’t afford to flop at the box office.

In the evening, Director Jiao invited the crew for dinner, and Mu Yan went too.

Only then did she realize she was the only female actor in the entire crew.

The male comrades were straightforward and easy to get along with, jokingly calling her ”Captain Dai” and staying in character all the time.

As the sole female actress, Mu Yan felt even more pressure.

Especially being called Captain Dai, she felt at that moment like a real leader.

With shooting scheduled for the next day, no one drank alcohol, and everyone headed back to the hotel after eating.

Back at the hotel, Mu Yan took out her phone only to find there wasn’t even a message from Jiang Jingheng.

She was puzzled. What was going on? Could something have happened?

Without hesitation, she called him.

He answered quickly, asking, ”Still awake?”

”Yeah, just finished dinner with the crew. What are you doing?”

”At home.”

”Oh.” Mu Yan replied lightly.

Since he was at home, why hadn’t he contacted her?

But she didn’t say it aloud.

”You’re back at the hotel, so get some rest,” he said.

”Yeah, you too.” Mu Yan said, then hung up the phone.

She checked the time, it was only nine o’clock. Telling him to sleep so early seemed so dismissive.
