A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 509: Chapter 509: Nuanyang’s Work

Zhao Jia Min had suffered twice already, so naturally she didn’t want to be fooled a third time.

Otherwise, she would become the biggest laughingstock of the night, and tomorrow the entire Upper City elite circle would know she was played by a small celebrity.

She was wary, but Mu Yan felt no pressure at all on her side.

However, few of the auctioned items were to her liking.

She finally took a liking to a small cabbage, made of jade, but the starting bid was thirty million, which was completely beyond her expectations.

She didn’t even have the chance to place a bid.

Ning Shishen noticed her thoughts and asked, ”If you want it, I can get it for you.”

Mu Yan quickly replied, ”No, I can’t afford it!”

Actually, when Ning Shishen said this, he realized he had misspoken. No girl with any self-esteem would feel at ease accepting such a gift from someone else.

And his giving such a valuable item to her must have some ulterior motive.

It’s possible that because of this, she might even harbor some resentment towards him.

He changed the topic and said, ”Let’s look at other things, today’s auction items are far from over.”

”Mm!” Mu Yan nodded.

The small cabbage was eventually taken by a wealthy businessman.

But to Mu Yan’s disappointment, none of the subsequent auction items appealed to her.

She felt a bit regretful in her heart.

First, she couldn’t buy something she liked, and second, she had no chance to let Zhao Jia Min suffer a loss to help Lan Xi vent her anger.

She was a bit disinterested, but Ning Shishen seemed particularly energetic, his eyes fixed on the stage as if waiting for something.

Each auction item was sold at a high price, making the host smile from ear to ear.

Zhao Jia Min saw there was no movement from Mu Yan’s side and lost her patience.

As it was getting late, she left with her assistant.

Her departure did not affect the atmosphere on-site at all.

The host took a painting from the box and said to the audience below, ”The next auction item is a painting. Of course, it’s not the classic masterpiece everyone imagines, it’s from a very young painter. However, the philanthropist who donated this painting said that it’s precisely because the author is young that they can infuse emotion and create such a hopeful work. It’s worth collecting by someone fated.”

Hearing her words, the audience became interested. Could it really be so magical?

Mu Yan looked at the painting in the host’s hands, feeling a bit curious.

Even if she couldn’t paint anymore, it didn’t stop her from paying attention to artworks.

At this moment, she didn’t notice the expression on Ning Shishen’s face beside her, with eyes full of anticipation.

Under everyone’s gaze, the host unfurled the scroll, revealing a painting of blooming sunflowers to everyone.

The colors were bright, but not at all jarring, conveying the sunflower’s sunshine and vitality through the paper.

Mu Yan’s expression changed slightly. Why did this painting look somewhat familiar?

The host looked at the guests below and said, ”The painter of this sunflower is Nuanyang, a young artist who has won several international painting awards. The starting bid for this painting is five hundred thousand.”

Mu Yan pressed her lips together, realizing her painting could be worth five hundred thousand after all.

”Two million!”

Someone next to her suddenly shouted, and Mu Yan was taken aback.

She turned her head to look at Ning Shishen and saw an intense emotion in his eyes.

She suddenly remembered that at Liu Yun’s art exhibition the last time, he was also so fixated on that sunflower painting.

She was a little puzzled. Did he really like sunflowers that much?
