A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Survival of the Fittest

Mu Yan stepped forward to embrace the prop, imagining that she was about to bid farewell to someone forever.

A figure suddenly appeared in her mind.

She lowered her eyelids, her dark eyes filled with sadness, reluctance, and helplessness.

”Mr. Jun, I regret it so much, always thinking there was plenty of time to spend with you.”

”There are so many things I want to say to you, but now it’s too late.”

”Sometimes, I’d rather be Jianing; even if I can’t live long, at least I can truly be by your side.”

...

The judges below the stage watched her performance intently, the sorrowful voice inevitably making one feel wistful.

After pouring out her heart, she suddenly turned and ran away, wiping the corners of her eyes with her hand as tears fell at that moment.

The performance concluded, and Mu Yan returned to the stage, saying to the people below, ”Thank you judges for watching patiently.”

A person sitting next to He Jianzhou said, ”Mu Yan, right? Go back and wait for news.”

”Thank you.” Mu Yan nodded and walked off the stage, her gaze suddenly meeting He Jianzhou’s.

Her expression tensed, and she withdrew her gaze, heading towards Song Cheng’an.

As soon as she left, the judges began to discuss immediately.

”I think she is the one,” someone said, ”She acted well.”

”But she’s just a newcomer.” He Jianzhou chuckled lightly, ”This is the lead female role; can she handle it?”

As soon as he said this, the others hesitated as well; if the lead actress isn’t popular enough, it could easily affect the ratings.

One person suddenly said, ”Let’s discuss it with the investors.”

”That’s true.”

He Jianzhou leaned back in his chair, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, the investors were only after profits; how could they possibly use a newcomer!

Tsk tsk, what a pity!

After leaving the hotel, Song Cheng’an drove Mu Yan back.

In the car, Song Cheng’an said, ”You performed well just now during the audition; I was moved.”

Mu Yan’s expression slightly tensed, ”But I’m afraid it will be difficult to get the role.”

”Hmm?” Song Cheng’an looked at her surprised.

Mu Yan lowered her eyelids, ”He Jianzhou is also one of the judges, and I’m not on good terms with him.”

Song Cheng’an was a bit surprised, ”Hmm?”

”I can feel that he dislikes me; of course, I don’t like him either,” Mu Yan replied.

Song Cheng’an was even more surprised by now; would someone with her personality dislike someone?

He pondered for a moment, ”Last time, the matter with Zhou Lifen was causing a stir. A piece of news broke, a certain popular idol was being kept by a wealthy businessman, which we manipulated to divert public attention.”

Mu Yan recalled for a moment; there seemed to be such news indeed.

At the time, He Jianzhou was also on the list, and he was the prime suspect.

”Do you think he targeted me because of this?” Mu Yan asked.

”It’s possible.”

Mu Yan shook her head, ”I don’t think so. Previously, in the ’Dragon Soaring’ crew, he always spoke to me in a strange way.”

Song Cheng’an’s brow slightly furrowed, ”This time in ’Immortal Fate,’ he’s the male lead, and you’re the female lead; you have a lot of scenes together. Is that going to be a problem?”

Mu Yan laughed, ”Whether I get the role or not is another matter. But even if I get the role, it doesn’t matter; it’s not like I’m really going to fall in love with him.”

Song Cheng’an suddenly laughed thinking about something, ”That’s good too.”

”Hmm?” Mu Yan looked at him puzzled.

”Save someone from worrying about you having an affair and getting irrationally jealous.” The corners of Song Cheng’an’s mouth lifted.

Mu Yan, ”...”

She didn’t know how to respond to that.

”By the way, there’s something I forgot to tell you.” Song Cheng’an suddenly said.

Mu Yan looked at him, ”What is it?”

”’Cold Night’ turned you down,” Song Cheng’an said.

Hearing this, Mu Yan was a bit disappointed; she really liked that role.

But then again, not every role she liked would be one she could play.

”Are you okay?” Song Cheng’an asked.

”It’s okay, after all, there are still these two scripts now,” Mu Yan smiled.

Seeing she was unfazed, Song Cheng’an felt reassured.

Survival of the fittest, the law of nature.
