The Apocalypse of the Book: So What If I'm Just a Cannon Fodder? I Can Still Have Fun

39: What happened after falling into a coma”By the way, Mianmian, after I fell into a coma, did anything happen to you?”

What Su Jinxuan was most worried about before he fell into a coma was his younger sister; she was too naive and easily bullied, and he didn’t know if Shi Xu had helped him protect her.

His gaze towards Su Mianmian revealed a hint of heartache.

Su Mianmian originally didn’t want to tell Su Jinxuan about what happened after he fell into a coma so soon, but since he asked, she thought about it and decided that whenever she told him, it would be the same, so she might as well tell him directly now.

She briefly explained the Original Body’s Owner’s situation, and Su Jinxuan grew increasingly furious as he listened.

”They’re going too far!”

”It must be that woman pulling strings behind the scenes!”

Su Jinxuan couldn’t help but say angrily.

Su Mianmian nodded; it was indeed true.

”Brother, Shi Xu is very good to me, you don’t need to worry.”

Su Mianmian couldn’t show that she knew the truth of the matter yet; she could only pretend not to know that Su Jinxuan and Shi Xu were comrades.

When Su Jinxuan heard Su Mianmian mention Shi Xu, his expression stiffened for a moment.

He entrusted his younger sister to his comrade’s care, and then his comrade ended up marrying her.

Su Jinxuan didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Since things had come to this, he looked up at Su Mianmian and said seriously, ”Mianmian, do you like Shi Xu?”

Su Mianmian knew what he was getting at by asking that; if she answered no, he would definitely help her get a divorce.

But... she was too entangled with the Shi Family now, and the apocalypse wasn’t something one or two people could get through alone. She was never arrogant, and besides, Shi Xu, from what she had seen of him during their time together, wasn’t bad either.

Su Mianmian thought for a moment and decided that she didn’t dislike continuing to get along with him.

She said with a solemn expression, ”I can’t say whether I like him or not, but I want to continue getting along with him.”

Su Jinxuan nodded; he understood her meaning.

”Are we at the Shi Family now?”

”Shouldn’t I be in the hospital?”

Su Jinxuan surveyed his surroundings; there was no smell of disinfectant, and the sheets weren’t pure white, indicating he was clearly at home.

Su Mianmian remembered that she hadn’t told him about the apocalypse yet, so she said, ”Brother, I need to tell you something very important now. After you hear it, please don’t be too shocked.”

Su Jinxuan glanced at her, thinking that nothing could be more shocking than what he had just heard.

He nodded, signaling her to speak.

Su Mianmian briefly explained the situation of the apocalypse. After she finished, she saw Su Jinxuan’s silent expression.

”Brother, do you not believe me?”

”Or are you scared?”

Su Mianmian looked at him curiously and asked.

Su Jinxuan shook his head, sighed, and murmured, ”I actually also had a dream about the apocalypse, but in the dream, you were torn apart by zombies, and I was powerless. That feeling was too suffocating.”

Su Mianmian looked at Su Jinxuan in shock. What he saw in his dream, could it be what the Original Body’s Owner experienced?

If so, she seemed to understand the pain in his heart.

Su Mianmian’s lips twitched slightly; she wanted to smile, but couldn’t.

What he saw was all true, but unfortunately, she couldn’t say it.

”Brother, it’s okay, dreams are often the opposite of reality. With you here, how could anything happen to me?”

”This dream might just have been a catalyst to make you wake up sooner.”

Su Mianmian said reassuringly.

Hearing her words and looking at her lively face, Su Jinxuan slowly nodded.

Given that he was still in recovery, Su Mianmian told him to rest well first.

After Su Mianmian left, Su Jinxuan couldn’t sleep.

He deeply resented those who made Su Mianmian do things she didn’t want to do.

Now that he was awake, he would personally seek justice for her.

Su Mianmian had no idea about Su Jinxuan’s thoughts; she returned, exhausted, and immediately fell asleep.

When she woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky.

Su Mianmian stretched lazily, then got out of bed with a pained expression.

Before transmigrating, she loved to sleep in, but now sleeping in had become a luxury.

Su Mianmian shook her head, washed up, changed her clothes, opened the door, and walked out.

She wanted to see if Su Jinxuan was awake.

”Brother, are you awake?”

Su Mianmian knocked on the door and asked.

Hearing Su Jinxuan’s reply, she pushed the door open and walked in.

”Brother, you’ve been in a coma for so long, let me give you a massage!”

”Otherwise, it’ll be too hard to recover.”

Su Mianmian said with a serious expression.

Su Jinxuan was surprised to hear her say that.

He hadn’t expected her to know how to massage.

Su Jinxuan nodded, not refusing.

He also wanted to get better quickly.

Su Mianmian massaged him for a long time before stopping.

”Alright, twice a day. I’ll give you another massage tonight.”

”How does it feel?”

Su Mianmian asked curiously.

Su Jinxuan looked very comfortable at this moment. He nodded and praised, ”Mianmian, waking up this time, you’ve given me many surprises.”

Hearing this, Su Mianmian felt a little embarrassed.

Shi Xu had never given up on Su Jinxuan’s body, so he arranged for people to massage him daily.

He was afraid that when he woke up, he would have severe muscle atrophy.

Su Mianmian had massaged him once today and felt that his recovery was indeed very good.

”Brother, do you want to try?”

”When you were in the hospital, Shi Xu hired people to massage you every day. I just massaged you once and found that your muscles are still quite good. Let’s try some rehabilitation training!”

”The apocalypse is coming soon, and I hope you can recover quickly.”

Su Mianmian said to Su Jinxuan with a serious expression.

Su Jinxuan didn’t refuse; he himself didn’t want to face the apocalypse with such a weak body.

He nodded, and seeing this, Su Mianmian reached out and helped him up.

When Su Jinxuan got out of bed, his legs were soft and full of weakness.

He endured the unfamiliar feeling of not having walked for a long time, following Su Mianmian’s steps little by little.

With every step, Su Mianmian could feel his pain.

Her heart ached for him, but there was nothing she could do. The apocalypse was getting closer and closer, and heartache wasn’t ignorance.

Su Mianmian didn’t want him to be like this in the apocalypse.

She had to push him.

As the two of them stepped out, they happened to encounter Shi Xu, who was also leaving his room.

Shi Xu was excited to see that Su Jinxuan was awake.

He took large strides towards him, patted Su Jinxuan’s shoulder, and said, ”It’s good that you’re awake.”

Shi Xu believed that Su Mianmian had already told Su Jinxuan everything that needed to be said.

When Su Mianmian wasn’t around, he must have been apologizing to Su Jinxuan!

Su Jinxuan nodded, a flicker of excitement in his eyes as well.

Seeing this, Su Mianmian thought it would be better for Shi Xu to take Su Jinxuan for rehabilitation training.

”Shi Xu, do you have anything to do?”

”If you don’t have anything, please take my brother to do some rehabilitation training!”

Su Mianmian turned to Shi Xu and requested.

Shi Xu nodded and swapped places with her.

Su Mianmian watched their retreating figures, a smile on her face.

She knew they definitely had things to talk about, so she would give them a little ”two-person world.”

Su Mianmian smiled and turned to go downstairs.

Shi Xu helped Su Jinxuan to the rehabilitation room, and Su Jinxuan immediately began his rehabilitation training.

Both of them understood these common practices, so Shi Xu didn’t need to teach him.

He watched him from the side, wanting to say something, but couldn’t bring himself to speak.

”Shi Xu, do you like Mianmian?”

While Shi Xu was still conflicted, Su Jinxuan suddenly asked.

Shi Xu stared at Su Jinxuan, who wasn’t looking at him, surprised that he would ask such a question.

”Before, it was out of responsibility, but now...”

”I think I do like her.”

Shi Xu said softly, lowering his head.

He didn’t know when he fell in love with Su Mianmian; it might have been her liveliness, or the stubbornness often seen on her face, or perhaps it was love that grew over time... Love was simply love, and he wouldn’t deny it, nor was there any need to deny it.

Su Jinxuan looked at him this time, but unfortunately couldn’t see his expression.

He was silent for a few seconds before finally saying, ”Then from now on, you’ll have to call me ’Brother’.”

After he finished speaking, he couldn’t help but smile helplessly.

Shi Xu knew he had agreed.

His heart couldn’t help but fill with joy.

What the two of them didn’t know was that uninvited guests had already arrived.
