Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

Everyone now understood very clearly...

Lu Chao had desperately drawn away ten Yan Soul Guards to lessen the pressure on the Great Wu Imperial City, which had also led to his Flying Feather Black Eagle being struck by an arrow.

It was simply too dangerous.

Yet, Cheng Yunsu’s gaze was firm as she said, ”It’s not a problem. As long as he reaches complex terrain, Lu Chao will be able to handle it.”

That’s what she said, but how could Cheng Yunsu not be worried in her heart?

But as Lu Chao’s wife, she had to maintain absolute composure. Anyone could lose faith in Lu Chao, but she could not. And with Lu Chao gone, she had to do what he would have done.

”Next, we must remind Dragon Flame Master Wang and Marshal Fan.”

With that, Cheng Yunsu released a carrier pigeon.

She began to notify the Dragon Flame King, Fan Changcun, and everyone else who needed to go into hiding to do so completely.

The Great Wu Empire had already driven off Lu Dingtian. Now, the three major powers of the Azure Flame Domain were baring their fangs. All core personnel, including themselves, absolutely could not be allowed to die...

”We have to force Mo Jing’s hand so he won’t dare let Yan Mu invade.”

Cheng Yunsu explained the plan that Lu Chao and Fan Changcun had devised in greater detail to the others. Afterward, she closed her eyes, silently worrying about Lu Chao while also silently continuing her Cultivation.

...

Lu Chao was still speeding madly on the back of the Flying Feather Black Eagle.

Suddenly, he saw a vast cloud of dust and sand ahead. He thought to himself, ’There are soldiers on the move ahead. It should be the Nether Spring Army from the northern Nether Spring Mountain Range, the one that holds back the Demon Beasts. Their Supreme Commander is one of Lu Dingtian’s men, recalled by Lu Dingtian himself.’

To the north of the Great Wu Empire lay the Nether Spring Mountain Range, a terrifying, abyss-like region. There was no enemy nation there, but Demon Beasts were numerous.

That was why a hundred-thousand-strong army was needed to hold back the Demon Beasts.

And this was the army Lu Dingtian had recalled to support him. But now that the battle for the Great Wu Imperial City was over, these troops should have been useless. Now, however, they had a purpose...

Lu Dingtian could use them to deal with the Yan Soul Guard.

’Lu Dingtian... what tenacious luck.’ Lu Chao’s expression turned incredibly cold.

He considered whether he could take control of this Nether Spring Army, but he quickly shook his head. The Nether Spring Army could be considered Lu Dingtian’s absolute Direct Lineage, and it was also a place where Lu Dingtian trained his Death Warriors.

Unless Lu Dingtian was dead, it would be very difficult for Lu Chao to win them over at this time.

’Even if I can’t take them, I can’t let Lu Dingtian get his hands on these troops.’

Lu Chao thought again, ’Otherwise, with Chi Xingxun’s skill in the Soldier Dao, I’m afraid they would be able to fight their way back to the Great Wu Imperial City.’

Although Chi Xingxun was a spoiled and domineering person, his achievements and talent in the Martial Dao and Soldier Dao could not be denied.

After all, he was someone who had studied the Azure Flame Nine Palace Array Map.

Thinking of this, Lu Chao abruptly steered the Flying Feather Black Eagle into a steep dive.

At the same time, he had already put on a half-mask—a replica of the one Lu Dingtian had given him. Lu Chao had smashed the original in half at the Three Academies’ tournament, making a clean break with Lu Dingtian...

Now, the half-mask should still be useful.

The Commander of the Nether Spring Army below had, of course, also noticed the chase between Lu Chao and the twenty Yan Soul Guards.

He stared up, somewhat bewildered...

When he saw the Flying Feather Black Eagle dive down, the Commander of Nether Spring immediately roared, ”Who goes there? How dare you charge into my army?”

At the same time, the Yan Soul Guards shouted, ”Stop him! Don’t let him get into the army! Fire!”

WHIZZZZZ...

A massive volley of arrows shot from the hands of the twenty Yan Soul Guards, imbued with their Peak Realm Peak True Qi, speeding straight for Lu Chao.

Lu Chao and the Flying Feather Black Eagle, of course, dodged frantically...

He stared straight at the Commander of Nether Spring and roared in a low voice, ”Lu Dingxian, it’s me, Lu Chao!”

Lu Chao, of course, recognized the commander of the Nether Spring Army. He was Lu Dingtian’s cousin from the same generation. In the past, Lu Chao would have had to call him Uncle Dingxian.

But now, of course, he just used his full name...

At Lu Chao’s words, Lu Dingxian froze, his eyes fixed on Lu Chao’s half-mask.

The next moment... AHHHHHHH!

Screams of pain erupted from all around Lu Dingxian.

The Yan Soul Guards’ arrows had arrived, raining down like a terrifying meteor shower. Because of Lu Chao’s evasions, the arrows streaked past him and pierced through the soldiers of the Nether Spring Army.

The situation caused Lu Dingxian’s expression to twist with fury as he commanded, ”Everyone, Gather Power with me! Kill this damned traitor, Lu Chao!”

He had come to his senses. Although he didn’t understand the situation, he knew he had to kill Lu Chao.

And so, Lu Dingxian began to Gather Power...

But Lu Chao immediately shouted, ”Lu Dingxian! Lu Dingtian is already dead! Are you still going to put up a pointless struggle?”

When he heard this, Lu Dingxian trembled violently, unable to believe it. ”No, impossible!”

BOOM...

While dodging the arrows from the Yan Soul Guards behind him, Lu Chao unleashed his True Qi and replied, ”I have already reclaimed my Violent Saint Bone! I’m already at the Peak Fifth Layer!”

This, of course, was a lie, intended to shake Lu Dingxian’s resolve and prevent him from Gathering Power.

Based on Lu Dingxian’s impression of Lu Chao, as well as the intelligence provided by Lu Dingtian...

Lu Dingxian naturally believed that the current Lu Chao was only around the Peak Realm. To have suddenly leaped to the Peak Fifth Layer would easily make Lu Dingxian believe that Lu Chao had truly reclaimed the Star Saint Violent Bone.

Instantly, Lu Dingxian’s mind reeled, and he found it difficult to gather the power of his soldiers.

As Lu Dingtian’s cousin and a member of the Great Wu Empire’s Lu Family, if Lu Dingtian was dead, the consequence for their actions would be the extermination of their entire clan. Lu Dingxian was now naturally exploding with terror.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Chao abruptly dropped down, first sending the Flying Feather Black Eagle away to dodge the arrows.

Lu Chao landed in front of Lu Dingxian. While swinging his Sword to bat away the Yan Soul Guards’ arrows, he said coldly, ”Lu Dingxian, you have one chance to live: help me eliminate the great enemy at my back.”

Lu Dingxian’s face was deathly pale as he jerked his head up...

He looked at the twenty True Fate Realm Flying Wolves swooping in for the kill, then turned to Lu Chao and asked, ”Can... can I really live?”

”Of course. As long as you kill this great enemy, you will be atoning for your crimes with meritorious service.”

Lu Chao said gravely, then shouted, ”There’s no time! If I step aside, you will surely die!”

The arrows from behind were still coming relentlessly. The Flying Wolves, carrying the Yan Soul Guards, were about to descend for the kill. If Lu Chao were to step aside now, Lu Dingxian would inevitably be killed by the Yan Soul Guards’ arrows...

”Prepare yourself! First, you Gather Power and unleash a single slash. Then, I will take command of your Nether Spring Army.”

After speaking, Lu Chao counted down from three. The instant the Flying Wolves drew near, he vanished into the ranks of the Nether Spring Soldiers and Horses.

And though Lu Dingxian hesitated, though he was dizzy with confusion and fear, faced with the Yan Soul Guards swooping down to kill him, he had no choice but to Gather Power and unleash a single slash.

This slash boomed towards the descending Yan Soul Guards, forcing them to soar high into the air.

After all, it was the Gathered Power of a hundred thousand soldiers. No matter how strong the Yan Soul Guards were, they could only temporarily evade it.

But the Yan Soul Guards immediately saw the problem. One of them said coldly, ”This army’s commander is mediocre. Split up and charge in.”
