Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

”Lu Dingtian, if you’re not dead yet, answer me now!”

Mo Jing was finding it incredibly difficult to command Lu Dingtian’s troops. He had no choice but to keep shouting into the city...

Yet, there was still no response from Lu Dingtian. This was a disaster. As Lu Dingtian remained silent, the morale of his troops crumbled further. His silence could only mean one of two things: he was either dead or had already fled.

Lu Dingtian’s forces were composed entirely of men from Great Wu. Their current actions constituted rebellion.

Lu Dingtian was their pillar of support. Without him, their resolve naturally shattered. To make matters worse, the man they faced, Lu Chao, was their former Young Lord. They knew all too well how terrifying he could be, and their will to fight had completely evaporated.

Lu Chao seized the opportunity... and began his slaughter!

...

Within the Great Wu Imperial City...

Lu Dingtian was still inside the Great Wu Imperial Palace. He had certainly heard the calls from Mo Jing and the others, so why wasn’t he responding?

Because a sword was pressed to his forehead, and a cold voice rang out...

”You’re the one from the Azure Flame Domain that Mo Jing recruited, correct?”

”Right now, I forbid you from responding. I want that damned Lu Chao and Mo Jing to destroy each other.”

Lu Dingtian’s whole body trembled slightly as he stared blankly at the person who had appeared before him. It was a young man with only nine fingers.

The young man’s expression was cold and fierce. Lu Dingtian asked dazedly, ”Who... who are you?”

His body trembling violently, Lu Dingtian stared fixedly at this nine-fingered youth, swallowing nervously.

’I have to respond now! To think Mo Jing actually came.’

’Now I know why Lu Chao suddenly stopped chasing me. If I can just answer, I can finish him off! I can mobilize all my men in the city!’

’But who could have known? Just when things were turning around, another goddamn twist of fate had to happen. My luck has turned rotten again. To run into some freakishly strong, nine-fingered young man out of nowhere!’

”I’m also from the Cyan Sword Great Empire. I’m the Young City Lord of Red Sword City.”

”Mo Jing has been hunting us relentlessly, leaving us with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. But now, we have a golden opportunity. That damned disciple of the Azure Flame Sect, Lu Chao, has arrived. We can use this bastard to kill Mo Jing.”

”If you respond, Lu Chao won’t be able to kill Mo Jing, or at least won’t be able to force him to retreat.”

The nine-fingered youth was, of course, Chi Xingxun.

He had actually managed to flee all the way from the Azure Flame Sect to the Great Wu Imperial City and was now inside the Great Wu Imperial Palace.

”It would be best if they both died together. That Azure Flame Sect disciple and Mo Jing... both of them deserve to die by a thousand cuts, without a proper burial.”

Chi Xingxun ground out the words through his clenched teeth.

He looked at the stunned Lu Dingtian again and said, ”It’s a pity Mo Jing arrived. Otherwise, your luck would have been much better. I would have already stormed the Great Wu Imperial Palace and killed Lu Chao.”

”Do you have any idea how excited I was when I saw him appear in your Great Wu Imperial City?”

”But damn it all, Mo Jing just had to show up outside the city at that exact moment.”

”He’s caught up to us again. He’s close to finding us again.”

Hearing Chi Xingxun’s words, Lu Dingtian was once again completely bewildered...

But he quickly understood. He asked blankly, ”You and that rebellious son of mine, Lu Chao... you have a deep-seated hatred for each other?”

Chi Xingxun slowly raised his head...

His eyes were completely bloodshot as he replied, ”He’s the one who twisted this finger off me. I even suspect he’s the one who led Mo Jing to the Azure Flame Sect. I, Chi Xingxun, have never been so humiliated.”

Hearing this, Lu Dingtian was stunned once more.

’So Lu Chao even managed to piss off a Young City Lord from the Cyan Sword Great Empire. From what this guy is saying, he was hiding in the Great Wu Imperial City, saw Lu Chao arrive on a Flying Feather Black Eagle, and was about to head to the Great Wu Imperial Palace to kill him. But then Mo Jing showed up, forcing this Young City Lord back into hiding.’

’Damn it all. If Mo Jing hadn’t shown up, I would’ve had this Young City Lord of Red Sword City as an ally! I could have turned the tables and killed Lu Chao... Of all the times for Mo Jing to show up...’

Lu Dingtian complained endlessly in his heart, but still quietly suggested, ”Young City Lord, should we perhaps sneak outside the city now, find an opportunity when they’re about to kill each other, and then finish them both off?”

At this moment, Lu Dingtian completely disregarded the fact that he was someone Mo Jing had chosen, and directly talked about killing both Mo Jing and Lu Chao.

He said it so casually, despite his life being in the Young City Lord’s hands.

In response, Chi Xingxun shot him a cold glare...

At that moment, another hoarse voice spoke softly, ”Of course not. Mo Jing sprinkled Cloud-Chasing Sand on us, and we haven’t completely removed it yet. Getting close to Mo Jing now would be suicide.”

Lu Dingtian quickly turned his head slightly to look at the source of the voice.

It was a frail-looking middle-aged man.

Beside the middle-aged man, a young man was supporting him. The man walked with a limp, but one could still feel the terrifying True Qi and the powerful aura of a Heavenly Destiny Bone from within him.

They were, of course, Commander Ke and Chi Yuan.

Of the people from Red Sword City who had infiltrated the Azure Flame Domain, only the three of them were left alive.

Chi Xingxun was missing a finger, Commander Ke was gravely wounded, and while Chi Yuan was uninjured, he wasn’t much help—his cultivation level was too low.

”Besides, if we show ourselves, Mo Jing and that Lu Chao will definitely team up to eliminate us first.”

Chi Xingxun continued for Commander Ke. After all, he was enemies with both Mo Jing and Lu Chao.

”For now, take us back to your residence. We’ll observe the situation along the way.”

”If Mo Jing is forced to retreat, we’ll go kill Lu Chao.”

And so, with Chi Xingxun laying out the plan, Lu Dingtian had no choice but to agree.

But he suddenly thought of something and asked blankly, ”Um, I’m one of Mo Jing’s men. What am I supposed to do then?”

’If I don’t answer Mo Jing now, he’ll probably skin me alive when he finds out I’m not dead.’

Pfft...

At that, Chi Yuan couldn’t help but scoff. ”You’re just a dog Mo Jing picked up at random. Does it matter whose dog you are? Help our Young City Lord, and you’ll get your share of benefits.”

The corner of Lu Dingtian’s mouth twitched, but he didn’t dare to argue.

He was gradually starting to understand. Chi Xingxun could afford to let Lu Chao win, but he absolutely could not let Mo Jing win. Otherwise, the hunt would continue, and at this range, their chances of escape were virtually nil.

If Lu Chao wins and Mo Jing retreats, they go after Lu Chao.

If Lu Chao and Mo Jing take each other out, that’s the best possible outcome.

If Mo Jing wins, they die.

’So I can’t respond right now. I have to make sure Mo Jing’s troops have no will to fight.’ What none of them knew, however, was that their meddling was making Lu Chao’s fight far, far too easy.
