Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

Lu Chao stood atop a palace roof, his expression shifting wildly as a chilling aura rolled off him.

’The Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf is headed outside the city.’

Indeed. Lu Chao could see that the Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf was heading toward the decisive battle being waged outside the city walls.

’The Little Sword-Winged Ice Wolf is entering the city now. That fraud Lu Dingtian was hit by my arrow—I don’t know if he’s dead or alive. Marquis Yin should be crushing their forces, but he can’t have wiped them all out yet. And Mo Jing... he has the Heavenly Destiny Tiger General Bone...’

’If he takes command of Lu Dingtian’s troops, there’s no way Marquis Yin can win.’

’I have to get out there. I’m afraid I’ll have to give up on killing Lu Dingtian for now.’

Lu Chao forced the words out through clenched teeth, his voice a hoarse rasp.

He could already clearly sense the aura of the Violent Bone; he could hunt Lu Dingtian down and finish him, but there was no time.

If he didn’t go, both Yin Ye and Xiao Su’er, who were outside the city, would likely be killed in an instant.

Clenching his fists, Lu Chao finally called out, ”Flying Feather Black Eagle...”

He had finally made his decision. Summoning the Flying Feather Black Eagle, he sent his voice out, low and grave...

”Your Majesty, order everyone to assemble and break out of the city! A powerful enemy is coming!”

”The entire Great Wu Imperial City must mobilize for an all-out battle.”

In the Imperial Palace Hall, the Emperor of Great Wu and his men were searching for Lu Dingtian when Lu Chao’s sudden command left them all stunned.

”A powerful enemy is coming?” The Second Prince, Wu Zhiqiu, and the others exchanged bewildered glances.

The Emperor of Great Wu, however, was decisive. He gave the stern order to assemble everyone...

By now, Lu Chao had almost completely eliminated Lu Dingtian’s subordinates. The few who remained were just small fries. Thus, the Great Wu Imperial Palace was no longer so chaotic.

And just as the people in the Imperial Palace were frantically assembling, Lu Chao had already leaped onto the Flying Feather Black Eagle’s back.

At the same time, he saw the Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf descending far outside the city walls before it disappeared from view.

Lu Chao’s heart sank. ’Mo Jing has already landed. I’m afraid I won’t make it if I rush over now. I have to buy some time.’

With that thought...

His gaze fell upon a pigeon tied to the Flying Feather Black Eagle. It was the carrier pigeon he had gotten from Zeng Quan.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he opened the cage and released the pigeon.

This carrier pigeon, belonging to Cyan Sword’s Yan Soul City, was much faster than an ordinary pigeon from the Azure Flame Domain. It should be able to buy him some time. With that done, Lu Chao wasted no time, riding the Flying Feather Black Eagle low along the outer walls as he headed out of the city.

He couldn’t fly too high, lest Mo Jing spot him. If that happened, Mo Jing might just charge straight into the city.

Just then, someone asked, ”General Lu Chao, what about Lu Dingtian?”

They were all still bewildered by Lu Chao’s sudden departure; it was all happening too fast.

They still had no idea who this ”powerful enemy” Lu Chao spoke of was.

Lu Chao left them with a parting command, ”Forget about him. Just assemble the troops. The Little Sword-Winged Ice Wolf will be here soon. Gather your forces and get out of the Imperial Palace. Do not engage it head-on.”

”After leaving the Imperial Palace, immediately assemble all available forces in the entire city. You must be quick.”

His voice drifted back to them as he and the Flying Feather Black Eagle dwindled into a small black dot in the distance.

Inside the Great Wu Imperial Palace, everyone could only exchange uncertain glances...

Nevertheless, they began to assemble quickly. They could tell from Lu Chao’s words that the situation was beyond urgent.

Then, a master from the Great Wu Royal Family approached the Emperor of Great Wu, Dongfang Ren, and the others. He said in a low voice, ”I think I just saw a large Sword-Winged Ice Wolf outside the city. It looked like it landed right outside the walls.”

Instantly, a jolt of shock ran through everyone present...

A chilling aura rolled off Dongfang Ren. ”I fear a master from the Cyan Sword Great Empire has come. We have to do as Lu Chao said. Our only hope is to gather all our forces... Don’t forget, if a Cyan Sword master is here, he can take command of Lu Dingtian’s army.”

At his words, the color drained from everyone’s faces, and they began to assemble in a true frenzy.

No one gave Lu Dingtian a second thought.

...

「Somewhere inside the Imperial Palace...」

Lu Dingtian had been scared to death just moments before, but now, the tables had suddenly turned. He was ecstatic. ’That traitorous whelp Lu Chao said a powerful enemy is coming. What kind of powerful enemy?’

He had been scurrying between buildings to hide, so of course he hadn’t seen the Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf.

So naturally, he had no idea who this ”powerful enemy” Lu Chao spoke of was.

’For Lu Chao to be so nervous, it must be someone from the Cyan Sword Great Empire. Maybe Lord Mo Jing sent someone to help me.’

’This is fucking exciting! I, Lu Dingtian, am going to make it out of this alive!’

With that, Lu Dingtian decisively slipped out of the Imperial Palace. He certainly wasn’t going to try and kill the Great Wu Royal Family now. Kill them with what? Lu Chao had already wiped out nearly all of his experts inside the palace.

No matter how strong he was, even at the Creation Peak, he couldn’t beat Dongfang Ren and the others all by himself.

’Wait, no. This could be a trap. Lu Chao can’t find me, so he’s trying to lure me out.’

’I have to be careful. I must rendezvous with the Little Sword-Winged Ice Wolf first.’

With that in mind, Lu Dingtian continued to move stealthily, not daring to reveal his position.

If he had known it was Mo Jing who had arrived, he probably wouldn’t have been so careful. Instead, he would have just shouted and screamed for Mo Jing to come save him.

And because he didn’t know, he missed the perfect opportunity to have Mo Jing come and eliminate Lu Chao.

...

「Outside the city...」

As mentioned before, the Hundred Countries’ Armies, led by Yin Ye, were absolutely crushing Lu Dingtian’s forces.

The enemy’s lines had already collapsed in the short time it took Lu Chao to travel from outside the city walls to the Imperial Palace.

But then, the situation changed in a flash.

A Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf suddenly descended from the sky. Mo Jing stood alone on its back, his explosive Demonic Power so overwhelming that Yin Ye and his men could barely breathe. They had fought him before.

Knowing just how terrifying Mo Jing was, Yin Ye immediately gave the order for a frantic retreat.

Instantly, the Hundred Countries’ Armies fell into a defensive formation, their faces filled with terror.

Mo Jing coldly swept his gaze across the battlefield...

Frowning, he looked at Lu Dingtian’s army and demanded, ”How did you let yourselves get beaten into this pathetic state? Where is Lu Dingtian?”

His voice was grim, his tone dripping with fury.

After all, he was the one who had orchestrated this whole affair. Lu Dingtian was supposed to conquer the Great Wu Empire. And what the hell was this he was seeing now?

Lu Dingtian’s army had been crippled by the Hundred Countries’ Armies. It was simply outrageous.

In response to Mo Jing’s question, Lu Dingkong—who had taken an arrow but somehow survived—was helped forward. He dropped heavily to his knees.

”Lord Mo Jing, Lu Chao is back! He’s inside the city.”

At these words, Mo Jing froze, his gaze instinctively snapping toward the city.

’According to my intel, Lu Chao was supposed to be in the Dragon Flame Royal Capital dealing with Nan Zhuiming. How did he get all the way to the Great Wu Empire? That fucking good-for-nothing Nan Zhuiming is to blame.’

’If Nan Zhuiming had just assassinated the Dragon Flame King, Lu Chao could never have returned to Great Wu.’

”Lord Mo Jing, Lu Chao just arrived! He went to kill our Marshal Lu! Please, my lord, take action!”

Lu Dingkong added quickly, his voice full of elation.

However, Mo Jing didn’t move right away. Instead, he cursed coldly, ”Utterly useless. Is there anyone competent in the entire Azure Flame Domain? Nan Zhuiming is a failure, and Lu Dingtian is a failure...”
