Chapter 2224: Chapter 2224: Executed by the Late Emperor’s People

This Late Emperor, seemingly lacking in deep strategy, is actually both ruthless and cunning!

Upon hearing the Prime Minister’s words, the Monarch Emperor’s gaze slightly darkened.

Although it was hard to believe this would be the outcome, it was indeed something the Late Emperor was capable of—fleeing when overwhelmed, waiting for the enemy to leave before reemerging arrogantly.

“He really dared to do it, didn’t he? He isn’t afraid that the Jun Empire might forever slip from his control,” he said quietly.

“Maybe he’s extremely confident?”

The Prime Minister remarked, noting how the Late Emperor willingly handed over the throne, demonstrating that he must have been fully confident in reclaiming it. Of course, a more crucial reason was that nothing mattered more than keeping himself alive.

If he lost his life, then he would truly lose everything. Only by staying alive could he hold onto what he desired, wouldn’t you agree?

“Prime Minister, could you possibly be mistaken? Where did this information come from? Did the Late Emperor even receive this news?” Perhaps the Late Emperor was completely unaware of it.

He thought to himself: the High Priest Demon Heart had only recently arrived at the Plant Plane, hadn’t he?

“In response to His Majesty: the Late Emperor should have received the news.”

The Prime Minister exchanged a glance with the general; both were absolutely sure that the Late Emperor had obtained the information.

“Your Majesty, I’ve uncovered some matters,” the general also stepped forward and began to speak.

“After the High Priest Demon Heart assisted the Yiinn Family in reclaiming Gui Ting Manor, he released the guards of various nations, allowing them to notify their rulers. However, the Jun Empire’s guard was already executed by the Late Emperor’s men.”

“Executed?”

The Monarch Emperor furrowed his brows. While he felt it matched the Late Emperor’s personality, something didn’t sit right with him.

“Your Majesty, that guard was executed half a month ago,” the general said.

Upon hearing this, the Monarch Emperor’s eyes widened in shock.

Even if he were incredibly foolish, he still understood the implications of this revelation.

The Late Emperor must still be alive; otherwise, why would the subordinates he left behind kill a guard released by the High Priest Demon Heart for no apparent reason? This was clearly to prevent him from obtaining intelligence about the High Priest Demon Heart.

“Do any of you have leads? Where might the Late Emperor be hiding?” he asked.

Upon hearing the Monarch Emperor’s question, the group fell silent.

The Late Emperor’s influence likely extended far beyond the individuals they had already eliminated. At the moment, they truly couldn’t pinpoint where he might be hiding.

“Currently, the High Priest Demon Heart is approaching Luo City. The Late Emperor must have received this news; he won’t show himself.”

“Finding him will likely be incredibly difficult; the Late Emperor’s ability to conceal himself is impressive, Your Majesty.”

The Prime Minister and another minister spoke up, their faces grim. The key issue was that a significant amount of time had already passed since they had acquired this information, and the Late Emperor might have hidden himself away in an entirely unknown location.

“Even if he’s in hiding, someone must be delivering him information from outside.”

The Monarch Emperor slightly lowered his head, thought for a moment, then lifted his gaze to the Prime Minister and other ministers, his eyes narrowing slightly.

“Start investigating from his most trusted individuals. Someone has to know. I refuse to believe he’s truly capable of hiding in a place where no one can find him.”

Even though they had already purged a group of the Late Emperor’s trusted confidants, there would undoubtedly be a few concealed in the shadows.

Capture those individuals, and surely they’d uncover the Late Emperor’s whereabouts.

“Your Majesty, leave this matter to me,”

The Prime Minister immediately took charge of the matter, shouldering the responsibility. He admitted he had previously failed to anticipate that the Late Emperor would fake his own death—this oversight was entirely his fault.
