High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Cultivating Spiritual Power

”In addition to our physical senses of taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell, we humans possess another kind of Perception—Spiritual Perception.”

”For example, our ability to sense danger. As our strength grows, that subtle intuition about impending threats is all enhanced by Spiritual Power.”

”Even ethereal concepts like auras and oppressive pressure have Spiritual Power at play.”

”It’s a universal tool, present everywhere. Any powerful individual will have strong Spiritual Power.”

”Some people are innately born with Spiritual Power far beyond that of an ordinary person, allowing them to awaken a Special Ability: becoming a Spiritual Mind Master.”

”They can imbue objects with their Spiritual Power to control them. For example, they can command a sharp Flying Knife to pierce the weak spots of a Calamity Beast, killing it with ease.”

”Alternatively, it can be applied to one’s own body, allowing them to swing a Weapon faster or accelerate their own movements.”

”In short, Spiritual Mind Masters are an exceptionally powerful group. Ordinary Martial Artists are simply no match for them!”

Hearing this, everyone in the classroom looked on with envy.

”I want a Special Ability like that so badly,” Jiangtao said, practically drooling with envy.

Lin Qi nodded as well. From the description alone, it was clear that the abilities of a Spiritual Mind Master were extraordinary—perhaps even stronger than his Vajra Ability.

Teacher Jia walked over to Lin Qi’s side of the room and continued.

”However, becoming a Spiritual Mind Master has nothing to do with any of you. This Special Ability can only be Awakened by a tiny fraction of people.”

”We should stick to honestly cultivating our Spiritual Power.”

”For us, Spiritual Power offers one distinct advantage: Perception!”

”As Martial Artists, we cultivate our bodies, mastering the strength of our muscles and bones and mobilizing the circulation of our Power. This all relies on our Perception.”

”It’s like driving a car with poor eyesight. Everything is a blur, and you can only make out general shapes. Someone with good Talent is like a person with a milder prescription; they might even be able to drive well just by feel.”

”But an ordinary person can only fumble along, driving slowly and cautiously, far less effectively than others!”

Everyone nodded. The analogy was incredibly fitting.

”Cultivating Spiritual Power, on the other hand, is like getting a pair of prescription glasses. It helps us see the road ahead clearly.”

”The stronger your Spiritual Power, the stronger the prescription, and the more clearly you can see.”

”You’ll also perceive the inner workings of your body more clearly, making it easier to master the strength within your own flesh and blood.”

”Therefore, Spiritual Power is a vital tool for improving our Martial Arts.”

After Teacher Jia’s explanation, everyone had a clear understanding of Spiritual Power’s purpose.

”Teacher, how do we raise our Spiritual Power?”

Guo Heng couldn’t resist raising his hand to ask.

Hearing the question, Teacher Jia pushed up his glasses and smiled.

”It’s very simple. Just like with your Qi and Blood Value Cultivation, there are three methods.”

”First: Cultivate a Spiritual Technique. It’s similar to a Source Energy Skill.”

”The only difference is that Spiritual Techniques are even more expensive than Source Energy Skills, and most people can’t afford them.”

”Furthermore, they are very difficult to cultivate. Without Talent, you will most likely fail.”

”Second: Consume resources. Just like Qi and Blood Capsules, Energy Potions, or Qi and Blood Pills, there are Cultivation Resources for the Spirit. And, just like the techniques, they’re even more expensive.”

”Third: The external cultivation environment. By using external forces to apply spiritual pressure, you can temper your Spirit and increase its strength.”

After he finished explaining the three methods, the students understood the implications and winced.

”I barely have enough money for my Qi and Blood Cultivation as it is. It feels like Spiritual Cultivation is even more expensive,” Jiangtao said, shaking his head.

”Without money, we can’t afford the techniques or resources. The only option left is the external pressure method,” Zhou Xiyin, who was sitting nearby, added.

Hearing the students’ discussion, Teacher Jia continued.

”Our school has a dedicated Spiritual Cultivation Field, and every student is allotted a certain amount of time to use it.”

”You can all go check it out today to get a measure of your own Spiritual Strength.”

Hearing this, everyone’s interest was piqued.

...

「After class」

”Brother Qi, come on, let’s go check out the Spiritual Cultivation Field,” Jiangtao urged.

”I want to go too!” Guo Heng agreed with a nod.

”I’ll go too!” Zhou Xiyin said.

”Alright, let’s go take a look.” Lin Qi glanced around. Seeing the expectant looks in their eyes, he had no choice but to agree.

’I was originally planning to go straight back to my dorm and buy a Spiritual Technique. But since everyone wants to go, I might as well check it out with them.’

”Let’s go!”

And so, a large contingent from Class 1 headed out of the academic building.

”The building for Spiritual Cultivation is called the Refining God Tower!” Jiangtao announced.

”Little Chan, head to the Refining God Tower!”

”Right away, Master!” Little Chan replied.

Lin Qi sat in his car as the navigation system set a course for their destination. The others got into their own vehicles and followed him.

A few minutes later, the group arrived at the Refining God Tower.

HUMMM!! The car came to a stop.

Lin Qi stepped out, and the car drove itself off to the parking garage.

His gaze locked onto the building before him. It was a colossal, tower-like structure that soared into the clouds. Its body was streamlined, tapering as it rose.

Overall, it resembled a cone. The tower was forged from a special silver metal and covered in intricate golden patterns.

Lin Qi could perceive the powerful spiritual fluctuations emanating from it, rolling out like waves.

Two tall, white robots stood guard at the main entrance, scanning and verifying every person who passed through.

By now, Jiangtao, Guo Heng, Zhou Xiyin, and the others had all gathered at the entrance.

”Let’s go in. Our cultivation time will be deducted automatically after the robots scan us.”

”None of us has much cultivation time in here, so we have to make it count.”

”I have eight hours of cultivation time per month,” Guo Heng said.

”I have eight hours too!” Jiangtao added.

”I only have six,” Lv Xiang said, shaking his head with a wry smile.

Meanwhile, Lin Qi checked his phone and found on the school’s official website that he had a full 15 hours of cultivation time, far more than anyone else.

’This must be the preferential treatment Dean Liu promised me.’

”Let’s go!”

With that, he led the way inside.

BEEP!

The head of the robot at the entrance swiveled, and an infrared beam swept over Lin Qi’s body. A holographic image of Lin Qi’s face appeared.

Upon entering, the first thing he saw was a vast, open space.

The area was brightly illuminated. It was a massive, circular chamber, and the surrounding walls were embedded with numerous crystals that cast a blue glow.

In the center, a barrier made of a transparent material cordoned off a colossal crystal pillar, easily more than six meters in diameter.

The area around the crystal pillar was filled with white meditation cushions, all arranged within a designated blue zone.

Many students were sitting cross-legged on the cushions. Their brows were furrowed, and some were gritting their teeth, sweat trickling down their faces as they endured.

In the distance, a spiral staircase led up to the second floor. There was even an elevator.

”Brother Qi, the Refining God Tower seems to have many floors!”

”The spiritual pressure is different on every floor,” Jiangtao explained beside him. ”As long as you feel the strain and push through it, your Spirit will get stronger.”

”Let’s go try it!”

Lin Qi stepped forward, crossing from the white-colored floor area into the blue zone.

BOOM!!

Instantly, an invisible force, like a surging tide, slammed into his mind.

Lin Qi’s brow furrowed as he felt waves of invisible spiritual energy battering his consciousness.

It created a strong sense of discomfort, almost like motion sickness.

Beside him, Guo Heng and Jiangtao also frowned, their bodies faltering for a second.
