High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Superb Spear Technique

Lin Qi stared at the number ”11” on his opponent’s chest. ’So the Martial Arts assessment for the college entrance exam really has changed. Assessor #10 used to be the limit.’

He hadn’t expected an Assessor #11 to appear.

His expression grew solemn. The aura radiating from this Assessor #11 was not to be underestimated.

Not knowing the full situation, it was best to be cautious.

[The Martial Arts assessment is about to begin!]

[Countdown: 3, 2, 1...]

[Assessment begins!]

An emotionless, female AI voice announced the start of the Martial Arts assessment.

WHOOSH~

Assessor #11 was burly, his powerful muscles making him look like a savage bear beneath his combat suit.

His body blurred into motion. He brandished a Silver Spear and charged, his great, meteor-like strides crashing forward recklessly.

His Spear Technique was wide and sweeping. The spear tip quivered as he raised the Big Gun high, then brought it down with the force of a falling mountain.

A corner of Lin Qi’s mouth lifted. ’This is more like it.’

His opponent was also using the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique. He, too, needed to test just how strong his own Spear Technique had become.

SWISH! SWISH!

His eyes narrowed and his aura flared. Like a tiger released from its cage to hunt, he lunged forward, swinging his Black Great Spear. With a sudden exertion of force from both arms, he swung the long spear in an upward thrust.

BANG!!

The downward chop and the upward thrust collided in an instant. A tyrannical force erupted, setting off an explosive crack in the air.

Power flowed in that instant, traveling up both their arms.

CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!!

Lin Qi was forced back several steps, his arms numb. He sighed internally, ’Amazing. It can even simulate the flow of Power.’

WHOOSH!!

Assessor #11 attacked again. He brandished his Big Gun, executing the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique with wide, sweeping movements that seemed to carry an unstoppable force.

Seeing this, Lin Qi also swung his Big Gun to meet the attack head-on, clashing might for might.

Great collapse, great split, great thrust!

Both sides used the same Spear Technique, their styles fierce and domineering. Tyrannical Power passed between their arms.

BANG! BANG!!

CLANG! CLANG!!

They clashed violently again. After a few simple exchanges, both were once more forced back by the tyrannical power.

Lin Qi watched Assessor #11, a sharp glint flickering in his eyes.

He could see every nuance of his opponent’s Spear Technique.

He had already seen through his opponent’s Spear Technique Realm.

’Assessor #11’s Spear Technique Realm is roughly at Tier Two, 40%. Not that strong!’

Lin Qi shook his head. Just one month into his senior year of high school, he had been able to easily defeat Assessor #10.

A Spear Technique Realm of Tier Two, 40% was nothing to him.

’Time to end this!’

Just as Assessor #11 swung his Big Gun again, Lin Qi put force into his arms and thrust out the long spear in his hands, which pierced the air with a whistling cry.

Lin Qi lowered his center of gravity, his legs rooting themselves to the ground like an old tree. His waist acted as a pivot, and the spear’s shaft trembled as Power flowed and burst forth with a HISS.

He drew an arc from bottom to top, like a surging ocean wave, his Power spreading out horizontally.

BANG! BANG!!

In an explosive burst, he blocked Assessor #11’s attack and launched a counteroffensive at the same time.

CLACK! CLACK!!

The assessor was forced back. Lin Qi gripped his long spear and thrust, shooting forward like an arrow released from its bow.

He found a momentary opening and thrust out the long spear. A cold light flashed—the spear struck like a dragon.

WHOOSH!!

The long spear tore through the air with a sharp whistle.

In an instant, it pierced Assessor #11’s chest.

PFFT~

Assessor #11 fell, and the battle was over.

[Congratulations on defeating Assessor #11. Mission successful!]

Lin Qi looked at the message that popped up and waited quietly.

Soon, a burly assessor in a white combat suit materialized before him. The number on his chest had changed to ”12.”

The corner of Lin Qi’s mouth lifted. ’Just as I thought. There’s an Assessor #12.’

According to his calculations, Assessor #12’s Spear Technique Realm, converted to panel data, would be around Tier Two, 50%.

’That’s about the same as my current Realm.’

’But one assessor won’t be enough to stop me.’

[Assessment mission: Defeat Assessor #12!]

[Countdown: 3, 2, 1...]

[Assessment begins!]

WHOOSH!

The moment the AI voice faded, Assessor #12, just like the previous one, began charging him while brandishing a Silver Spear.

His spear movements were more fluid, his Spear Technique executed with even fiercer and more domineering speed. The flow of Power made his aura even more terrifying.

BANG!!

Lin Qi swung his spear as well, meeting the attack head-on!

「Meanwhile, at the Celestial Sea Martial Arts Education Bureau」

In a massive conference room, Director He—burly, bearded, and dressed in a suit—watched the countless surveillance feeds projected before him.

A corner of his mouth lifted. ”Ever since the last round of complaints, everyone has been dissatisfied with the assessors’ lack of strength.”

”So, the Red Dome Martial Arts Dojo created several new assessors. There are 17 in total now, and the strongest one, Assessor #17, has Martial Arts Skills that can even reach Tier Three.”

”That should be enough to keep these geniuses busy!”

Little Li, standing beside him, chuckled. ”Right now, these geniuses are probably all stuck on Assessor #11, or maybe #12.”

”Only an S-class genius could make it to Assessor #13.”

Speaking of S-class geniuses, Director He was reminded that both Lin Qi and Chen Li were S-class.

”I wonder which assessor those two will make it to.”

...

「Imperial Capital, during the Martial Artist college entrance assessment」

In a spacious assessment room, two figures, one white and one red, were locked in a fierce battle.

They wielded black and red great halberds, their movements wide and destructive. Every clash sent a shower of sparks into the air.

’This Assessor #12 has decent strength, but that’s all. Others might find him difficult to deal with, but I’m different.’

The tall man in the red combat suit swung his great halberd ferociously, unleashing astonishing might as the Power within his body flowed and erupted outward.

PFFT~

A few seconds later, Assessor #12 was defeated and vanished from the room.

「Celestial Sea City, No. 1 Middle School’s virtual assessment room」

BANG!

WHOOSH~

Jiangtao wielded his battle saber like a great stone, continuously defending. No matter which direction his opponent attacked from, he could predict the blow and successfully use Force Discharge to block it.

He thought to himself, ’I barely made it past Assessor #10. I thought I’d get a perfect score, but then Assessors #11 and #12 showed up.’

’They just keep getting stronger. I think I’ve reached my limit.’

Just then, Jiangtao thought of Lin Qi. ’Brother Qi can definitely last until Assessor #13.’

...

At the same time, in the assessment room next to Jiangtao’s.

PFFT~

Lin Qi swung his long spear, unleashing a Killing Technique. The long spear shot out, glinting with a cold light.

It instantly pierced Assessor #12’s chest. Splattered blood turned to nothingness and dissipated into the air.

[Congratulations on defeating Assessor #12!]

Lin Qi retracted his spear and waited, his expression solemn.

Assessor #12 had been so strong that he’d had to use a Killing Technique to win.

Assessor #13 would only be even stronger.

At the same time, he couldn’t suppress the excitement rising within him.

Fighting a powerful opponent would be a huge boost to his Spear Technique.

A few seconds later, the white-clad assessor reappeared. The number on his chest had now become ”13.”

[Assessment mission: Defeat Assessor #13!]

[Countdown: 3, 2, 1...]

[Assessment begins!]

The moment the AI voice faded, Lin Qi shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bowstring, stepping into a charge.

His aura erupted from his entire body. Power circulated wildly within him as he fully unleashed the might of the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique.

He attacked first, seizing the initiative.

He unleashed his full strength, holding nothing back.

The eyes behind Assessor #13’s white mask also lit up. His body exploded with power, and he swept his Silver Spear in an arc, as if to clear away everything in his path.

BANG!!

The two Big Guns collided, the air cracked, and Power erupted.

...

PFFT~

Jiangtao watched as Assessor #13 slit his throat with a single saber strike. He fell and vanished on the spot.

He returned to his personal space.

’I lost!’

Jiangtao let out a breath. He had barely, just barely, defeated Assessor #12. But against Assessor #13, he had been killed in just two strikes.

He chose to log off.

After stepping out of the Virtual Cabin, he looked at the still-closed Virtual Cabin next to his.

’Brother Qi really is much stronger than me. He’s still in the assessment,’ Jiangtao thought.

”Jiangtao’s out of the assessment!”

”He lasted for a long time. Which assessor did he make it to?” someone nearby whispered in discussion.

”I heard there are several more after Assessor #10. Could he have made it to Assessor #12?” someone asked uncertainly.

”But Lin Qi is even more amazing. He’s still not done! Just which assessor is he on now?” The crowd looked curiously toward Virtual Cabin #8.

The burly proctor also stared at the Virtual Cabin, curious to see how far Lin Qi, the strongest in Cang Province, could go.

...

「In the assessment room」

CLANG~

WHOOSH~

Lin Qi swung his Big Gun, blocking his opponent’s attack amidst a fierce gust of wind.

His expression was solemn, his gaze locked on Assessor #13’s silver long spear as his mind raced.

’Assessor #13’s Spear Technique is clearly better than mine. The execution of his Spear Technique’s techniques has very few flaws, and his control over Power is stronger. Boosted by that Power, his spear is even faster than mine.’

’In a situation like this, my only option is to take a risk.’

In the next instant, Assessor #13’s silver long spear shot out like a sharp arrow—swift and precise. In a flash, intense Power flowed forth, and the very air seemed to be torn apart.

Killing Technique—Rock-Splitting Cone!

Lin Qi’s eyes shifted. ’This is my chance.’

The instant a Killing Technique was unleashed was also his chance to counterattack.

He turned his long spear sideways and spun it rapidly, blocking as if with a shield.

At the same time, his body was in constant retreat as he calculated the distance between them.

CLANG!

The instant they collided, a tyrannical Power was released through the long spear.

’Now!’

Lin Qi’s eyes lit up. He had calculated the perfect moment to strike. Forcing himself to endure the impact of the Power, he instantly exerted his own strength, pushed off the ground, and kicked out with a sudden burst of muscle.

BANG!

His kick landed on Assessor #13’s Silver Spear, sending it flying from the assessor’s grasp.

PFFT~

In that same instant, Lin Qi threw the long spear from his hands, sending it flying in a straight line.

In a flash, a cold light glinted. The spear struck like a dragon.

The sharp spear tip quivered, tearing through the air and instantly piercing Assessor #13’s chest.

He, too, turned to nothingness and dissipated into the air.

[Congratulations on defeating Assessor #13!]

The AI’s voice echoed in the air, announcing the final result.
