Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 371: Chapter 371 - Dimitri’s resilience

Just like earlier, Dimitri simply looked at me, his emotions not showing on his face. He nodded his head a couple of times as if simply accepting everything that has happened as it is. He looked at Laerad and smiled back at him while wishing him a safe pregnancy and childbirth in a few months.

The two husbands shared a few stories and asked some questions about each other to be more familiar. Laerad, unlike the time I brought Kayden in, was more accommodating and he even served us some refreshments. He also did not look like he was in a hurry to kick us out. It was as if his jealous personality has mellowed down all of a sudden.

Dimitri, without any warning, talked to me in a serious tone, ”I don’t mind you having several husbands since that is a norm in this world. I also understand that your mission requires you to have children from different mystique races. I willingly entered your household so I am willing to abide by all your rules. All I ask is that you also give me care throughout my pregnancy and continue to support me as my wife even after the child is born. I don’t demand so much attention, just remember to visit me and our child on a regular basis.”

This time, it is my turn to nod as I promised Dimitri, ”I may not always be around but I will give you the same promise as I have given all my husbands. I will take care of you and our children for the rest of your lives. I may not be present all the time but I will support all of your needs to the best of my ability. I am already working on making sure I can be with all of you more frequently.”

He looked at me with a relieved smile on his face, ”I fully trust you, wife. I am sure that the others also do. As long as our future child will not be abandoned by you, that is already more than enough for me.”

As I listened to Dimitri’s almost begging voice earlier, I honestly want to reason out that what he was asking is not a favor but something that should be expected of a wife to her husband and a mother to her child. I wanted to at least defend myself since I think he believes that I will eventually become like the other women of this world after a few years of staying here and marrying a few more times. I realized though that there is no point in arguing since actions would always speak louder than words.

If I think about it, I felt a little irritated that he didn’t even include himself when he begged to not be abandoned. Why do men in this world think so lowly of themselves no matter how much you coddle them? They are so pessimistic,

Though the meeting was brief, both husbands were cordial to each other and very relaxed. I bet Laerad would have wanted to stay and chat longer if not for the tons of other things he needed to do to manage the world tree realm. Dimitri requested to be sent back to the palace saying that he wanted to be alone for a while. I understood what he meant and teleported him back to the small plaza while reminding him to tell my parents if he wanted to meet me afterwards.

Once Dimitri has left the hut, I assisted Laerad back inside the hut so we can have a brief talk. Once we are alone, I kissed Laerad on the lips, this time more passionately and also lingering. I then bent down to kiss his belly as well which for some reason, shocked him exaggeratedly into crying. I panicked a bit and asked him urgently what’s wrong, thinking that I bumped or pressed on his belly too hard or frightened him too much.

He then told me through telepathy that the children moved for the first since he found out he was pregnant and he is honestly very scared that the children are not going to make it since they never moved to let him know they were alive. He apologized for not letting me know about it since he is so scared that I would never see him again and blame him for not being careful enough of the children.

I hugged Laerad and whispered to his ear that our children will be okay and they are strong because both of us are also strong. I bent down again and placed my ear on his belly this time while hugging his lower back. I closed my eyes and tried to see if I can get through the barriers to speak to the kids telepathically. Surprisingly, I was able to easily get in.

I could clearly see bright green orbs of light inside though they are currently not moving. Once they felt my presence, the orbs moved slowly and inched their way towards me as if doing a group hug. I felt very happy and warm inside. I decided to talk to them though I am not sure how much they would understand after what I am about to say.

I used a soft and soothing tone in my mind and said to the three, ”I know your father is quite grumpy at times but that’s only for others. He could never be grumpy with you three. I know you are trying to be obedient by not making your father feel uncomfortable but he gets scared when you do not move even for a bit once in a while. He thought you weren’t healthy or you were dying. You can play around a bit but do not hurt your father, okay? I will visit the three of you and your father every chance that I get.”

As if understanding everything that I just said, the three green orbs bounced up and down while going in circles around my soul orb. I don’t know if I am imagining it but the outer membrane of the orbs looked like they were vibrating too. Suddenly, the three stopped going in circles and squeezed my soul orb in between the three of them for another group hug.

I don’t know how long I have been hugging Laerad’s belly but when I opened my eyes, I couldn’t help but have a warm smile on my face. My husband looked at me, still with a worried face, asking if the kids were alright since he has tried many times but couldn’t talk to them or check on them. This fact surprised me given how easily I was able to get in but at least I have an advantage over my husband so he should believe what I am about to say.

Laerad continued staring at me without blinking, waiting for me to answer. I stopped smiling and looked at him with all the seriousness I can muster though I really want to laugh inside. I spoke in a a serious tone, ”The children are all okay but...” I heard the pregnant deity sigh in relief but then he stiffened when he heard the word ”but” at the end of my sentence.

He urgently asked, ”But what?!” I sighed heavily to magnify the effects of my acting and replied, ”You scared the children because you are too grumpy all the time. They thought you were angry at their existence and think of them as nuisance so they do not move on purpose so as not to hurt you or make you feel uncomfortable in any way. They don’t want you to get even more angered than you already are.”

For the first time since I met Laerad, this is the first time I saw him speechless with his mouth agape. He couldn’t deny that he’s grumpy and he couldn’t find an excuse about it too. He finally clicked his tongue as if he was about to get angry again but chose to sigh instead to calm himself down.

He looked down and caressed his belly and spoke with a deep but loving tone, ”Father is not angry with any of you. I am just... I’m naturally grumpy at everyone else especially those... Uh. Never mind. I only love your mother and the three of you so you can play as much as you want and move around inside, okay? Father’s body is sturdy. I won’t get hurt even if you play inside there a bit.”

As if understanding what their father has just said, I saw three distinct movements on Laerad’s skin. It was as if something was pushing onto his skin briefly from the inside before it calmed down again. My husband’s eyes were wide as saucers as he looked at me with a teary smile.

After everything has been settled, I had to bid Laerad goodbye so he can go on with his duties. Before I left, he whispered to me that my personal realm has finally been completely built according to my specifications and is now ready for its first occupants. This should be good news for the guys I still need to pick up from Marahuyo soon.

I think I should prepare better houses for them and also build areas to have fun so they won’t get bored. When they move in, there will only be five of them including my father-in-law (Makisig’s father). I don’t want to add more official citizens in my personal realm yet, not until those four pregnant mystiques have given birth first at least.
