Staring at the newly acquired cauldron, Lin Feng nodded in satisfaction.

The cauldron he had obtained from Liu Xi was of the lowest tier, a mere two-mouth alchemy cauldron. However, for a beginner like him, it was more than suitable.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Feng picked up the introductory alchemy book from Liu Xi and reviewed the techniques for using the cauldron.

Following the instructions, he placed his hand over the fire inlet of the cauldron and channeled his Dou Qi to his palm.

As soon as the Dou Qi reached his palm, the cauldron emitted a strong suction force, drawing the Dou Qi into the fire inlet.

”Poof!”

With a muffled sound, the Dou Qi was abruptly transformed into a tangible crimson flame, which roared and churned inside the cauldron.

The sudden burst of flames startled Lin Feng, and he almost instinctively withdrew his hand. However, recalling the teachings from the book, he forced himself to remain calm.

Gazing at the raging flames within the cauldron, he closed his eyes and focused his mind.

His powerful soul perception roamed through his body, searching for a trace of his innate wood attribute energy.

Nearly ten minutes later, he finally located the faint strand of wood energy.

Extending a finger, he lightly touched the secondary fire inlet of the cauldron, slowly channeling the weak green energy inside.

As soon as the green energy entered the cauldron, the crimson flames reacted as if undergoing a chemical transformation, suddenly calming down.

Even though Lin Feng had yet to fully control the flames, he could already sense that the previously rampant energy had been neutralized by the wood energy.

Moreover, due to the principle of wood nurturing fire, the flames now burned with greater stability and endurance.

Retracting his hand from the cauldron, he picked up a prescription scroll labeled ”Rejuvenation Powder” and carefully examined its contents.

Rejuvenation Powder - a non-ranked medicinal powder applied externally to stop bleeding and prevent infections. Ingredients: Jade Green Flower, Rejuvenation Herb, Hundred Treasure Vine.

As for the required ingredients, he had already spent twenty thousand gold coins at the Mittel Auction House to purchase a hundred sets, enough for extensive practice.

After reviewing the recipe, he reignited the flame and tapped his storage ring.

With a flash of light, a blue-green herb appeared in his hand, which he promptly tossed into the cauldron.

The moment the Jade Green Flower entered the flames, it was instantly engulfed and reduced to a pile of black ash before Lin Feng could react.

”Uh…”

Staring at the burnt residue, Lin Feng scratched his head awkwardly and threw in another Jade Green Flower.

This time, it lasted a moment longer before meeting the same fate.

”The temperature seems too high.”

After over a dozen failed attempts, Lin Feng carefully adjusted the flame, using his soul perception to suppress its intensity.

Through the ice mirror reflection on the cauldron’s surface, he stared intently at the Jade Green Flower, which now hovered above the flame.

After a few moments, the flower’s outer layer began peeling away, and its juices gradually evaporated into a fine, blue-green powder.

Moments later, Lin Feng successfully obtained a portion of powder, though speckled with a few black spots.

A smile appeared on his face—despite the imperfect control over the temperature, this was a successful refinement.

An hour later, Lin Feng looked at the twenty-plus portions of Jade Green Flower powder he had refined and nodded in satisfaction.

He then picked up a Rejuvenation Herb and began refining it.

After refining another twenty portions, he proceeded with Hundred Treasure Vine.

By the time he had finished refining twenty portions of Hundred Treasure Vine, Lin Feng’s face had paled slightly. Unable to continue, he collapsed onto the ground, exhausted.

Although his cultivation technique was of Mid-Grade Black Class, controlling a two-mouth cauldron for nearly four hours had pushed him to his limit.

”Alchemy really isn’t an easy task…”

Feeling the near depletion of his Dou Qi, Lin Feng sighed.

Quickly sitting cross-legged beside the cauldron, he began circulating his cultivation technique to recover. This was the best time for cultivation. After some time, the dimmed Qi cyclone in his body regained its brilliance.

Not only that, but the glow seemed slightly stronger than before. Slowly opening his eyes, he found that the soreness and fatigue in his body had largely faded. Cracking his neck, the sound of joints popping brought him a sense of relief.

With that, he prepared for the most challenging and crucial step in alchemy—fusion!

Fusion was the hardest because different medicinal ingredients required different levels of heat.

When fusing them, multiple ingredients had to be added at once, demanding precise control over each component’s required temperature.

Taking a deep breath, he skillfully ignited the flame and added the extracted Hundred Treasure Vine juice into the cauldron.

A few minutes later, he threw in the Rejuvenation Herb extract. Once the two fused, he quickly added the Jade Green Flower powder.

Lin Feng stared unblinkingly at the mixture of blue and white liquid inside the cauldron, carefully increasing the temperature.

”Boom!”

Just as the fusion was about to succeed, he accidentally raised the heat too much, causing the mixture to instantly burn into black ash.

Exhaling a breath of turbid air, he added another set of ingredients and restarted the fusion process.

”Boom!”

Too much heat—failure again.

Undeterred, he tried once more.

After several consecutive failures, Lin Feng felt that he had almost grasped the right level of control.

Once again, he placed the ingredients into the cauldron. In an instant, surging flames enveloped the various materials, beginning to fuse them together.

When the final wisp of gray-green color successfully merged, Lin Feng immediately reduced the intensity of the flames.

When the timing was right, he swiftly waved his hand, and a ball of green medicinal liquid precisely fell into a prepared jade bottle.

”Hehe, from now on, I can be considered an alchemist too.”

Looking at the medicinal liquid in the jade bottle, a surge of pride welled up in Lin Feng’s heart. Although due to withdrawing the flames too hastily, the liquid contained some slight impurities, No matter what, this was already a medicinal liquid that could be sold normally.

”Boom.”

Lin Feng pushed open the stone door of the alchemy room and glanced at the date board on the opposite wall, which was updated daily by the Alchemist Association.

”So, it’s already been seven days.”

Lin Feng scratched his head, his hair messy from not being washed for a week.

He had been crazily refining medicine these past days and hadn’t realized that seven days had already passed.

Returning to the inn, he renewed his room for another month at the front desk.

After washing up in his room, he put on his Alchemist Apprentice badge and headed toward the Alchemist Association’s trading market.

Buying medicinal ingredients there was not only more varied but also safer compared to other places.

After all, anyone capable of setting up a stall inside must be extremely wealthy.

Unless someone possessed something exceptionally rare, who would be foolish enough to become a robber?

Upon entering the Alchemist Association, Lin Feng walked straight toward the eastern area, which was a designated trading zone within the guild.

Upon arriving at the trading area, he immediately noticed a stark contrast compared to outside.

The vendors here did not loudly hawk their goods to attract customers. Instead, they leisurely sat on soft chairs, with some even sipping tea.

Only when someone inquired about a price would they stand up and engage in conversation.

Deals worth hundreds of thousands of gold coins were often concluded in just a few simple exchanges.

After searching the market for a while, Lin Feng arrived at a stall with a relatively abundant selection of medicinal ingredients. He turned to the elderly vendor, who appeared to be in his sixties, and asked, ”Senior, I need thirty sets of ingredients for Hemostatic Pills. Do you have them?”

”Hehe.”

The old man stroked his goatee and smiled. ”They’re just materials for a first-tier pill. Even if you wanted more, I would have them!”

”Then, how much for thirty sets?” Hearing the old man’s confident tone, Lin Feng inquired further.

”Fifty thousand gold coins, or a pill of equivalent value.”

”Senior, this is a peak grade second tier Recovery Pill. Should be enough, right?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Feng reached into his storage ring, took out a wooden box, and handed it over.

The old man received the box, opened it, and nodded slightly. ”Not bad. It is indeed a Recovery Pill. Take your items.”

As he spoke, the old man also tapped his storage ring, and the once-spacious stall instantly became stacked with various medicinal ingredients.

Lin Feng’s eyes swept over the pile, ensuring there were no issues.

He then stored the ingredients into his storage ring before cupping his hands in salute. ”Since the transaction is complete, I shall take my leave.”

With that, he headed toward his rented alchemy room.

”Phew, good thing Liu Xi’s collection was rich enough. Otherwise, even if I refined Rejuvenation Powder for a month, I might not have been able to afford these thirty sets of ingredients.”

Back in the alchemy room, Lin Feng placed the ingredients beside him and once again felt grateful to Liu Xi.

If not for this first-tier alchemist providing him with so many things, he would still be worrying about cultivation techniques.

Adjusting his state of mind, Lin Feng released his medicinal cauldron. Today, he would attempt to refine a proper first-tier pill.

Although he could already refine some medicinal liquids, only by producing pill-shaped medicine could he truly be considered a first-tier alchemist.

Skillfully igniting the flame, he waved his hand, tossing a Blood Coagulation Herb into the medicinal cauldron.

”So this is the Hemostatic Pill? The recipe describes it as blood-red, but this one seems too dark. The pill toxin is too strong. Can this be considered a success?”

Lin Feng looked at the dark-red pill in his hand, feeling somewhat uncertain.

He then shook his head, finally understanding why only those who could refine pills were considered first-tier alchemists.

He had originally thought that since he could refine medicinal liquid, making pills wouldn’t be much harder.

But after toiling for half a day and using up thirty sets of materials, he had only managed to produce this flawed product.

Thinking about those consumed ingredients, a hint of heartache flashed in Lin Feng’s eyes.

He had only obtained three Recovery Pills from Liu Xi’s storage ring.

And now, after just half a day, he had already wasted one pill’s worth of materials completely.

Lin Feng quietly pondered, ”Should I find a master alchemist to apprentice under?”

However, he immediately dismissed the idea.

If he became a disciple now, under normal circumstances, he would have to stay by his teacher’s side to study until he mastered the craft.

For ordinary people, this was fine, but for Lin Feng, it would be a disaster.

By the time he completed his studies, all the fortuitous encounters he knew about would have long been taken by Xiao Yan.

Besides, he planned to enroll in Jia Nan Academy in two years. If he took a master now, then left for the academy, wouldn’t that be a slap in his master’s face?
