Chapter 146: Chapter 117: A Leisurely Day

Next, Naoki called the second Pokemon on the ranch that knows Electric type moves, Dragonite.

Dragonite looked brightly at the generator in front of it.

Did Naoki specially prepare this machine to help it train Electric type moves? Dragonite couldn’t help but think.

Just like when it practiced Rain Dance in the fields and Hurricane in the sky.

If it kept using Electric type moves on this machine, then...

Beside it, Naoki was explaining the generator’s operation to Dragonite, and suddenly noticed the odd look in Dragonite’s eyes.

”...What are you thinking?”

Dragonite had completely regarded the generator as a tool to practice Electric type moves by now.

It joyfully hugged Naoki.

”Roar!”

Naoki is so wonderful!

Previously, with watering and milk delivery to help it train Rain Dance and Hurricane, because it used these moves every day, its familiarity with them increased significantly.

Now, it’s starting to help it practice Electric type moves. It’ll definitely work hard!

The hug left Naoki confused with a head full of questions.

He certainly felt like Dragonite had misunderstood something...

And Dragonite had already begun channeling electricity into the generator.

Because its body size is much larger than Pawmi, it couldn’t stand on the generator, so it placed its pudgy paws on it.

Then, crackling electric currents surged from Dragonite’s fists and were absorbed by the generator.

Naoki turned to look, seeing the generator’s energy bar rising steadily.

1%...3%...4%...12%...23%...37%...

Finally fixed at 48%.

Witnessing this, Pawmi showed an admiring look in its eyes.

”Pammo!” Awesome!

But Dragonite had reached its limit.

Its body’s electric power was drained, and it couldn’t use any more Electric type moves.

If we use game terminology, it ran out of PP value (move usage count).

”That’s enough, you’ve done quite well!”

Naoki took Pawmi and Dragonite back to the front house and fetched two bottles of iced honey lemon water from the fridge.

This is a beverage he made earlier, which can relieve fatigue and restore energy when consumed.

Dragonite joined Pawmi to sit on the grass outside the door, leisurely enjoying the breeze and drinking honey lemon water.

After settling the two Pokemon, Naoki returned to the storeroom, extracted tools and wood, and used the workbench there to start crafting a support frame for hops.

Summer is approaching, and the seeds of those summer crops he bought earlier can soon be planted.

Crops like corn don’t need a frame to grow, but hops do.

They would climb the frames erected by the Rancher, reaching for sunlight on every leaf, then grow hops used for brewing beer.

Of course, to brew a bottle of beer, hops alone aren’t enough; pure water, malt, and yeast are also required.

There’s pure water in the ranch, yeast can be bought in town.

The ranch also stores a lot of malt, which he grew himself two months ago.

The spring wheat wasn’t sold after harvesting; instead, he kept it.

Finally, the hops and a series of ingredients were placed in the brew buckets, stored in the cellar, waiting about a month for the brew to complete.

Naoki is curious about what kind of magical effects his homemade beer might have.

The only regret is that the brewing process has certain environmental and temperature requirements.

If the brew bucket didn’t need to be stored in a cool, shaded cellar, he might have spread the brew buckets all over the place.

The ranch doesn’t have a cellar yet, but Naoki isn’t worried. Hops and barley can be stored until there’s a cellar to start brewing.

At the current profitability rate of the ranch, by mid-fall at the latest, he should have saved enough to expand the house, requiring 2 million.

Winter is unsuitable for growing crops, so he can focus on brewing during that time.

Time ticked away, and as the sunlight rose high, the frames were completed one by one.

Naoki directed Koraidon and Cyclizar to move them to the front; by then, the sun had fully risen.

Under the eaves, Dragonite and Pawmi lay down after finishing the honey lemon water; their upper bodies resting in the shade, their lower bodies basking in sunlight.

The two Pokemon were snoring peacefully, looking quite relaxed.

Naoki smiled at the scene, and at this moment, Cyclizar suddenly made a sound.

Naoki followed its gaze and saw Glaceon running out of the Ice Cave unbeknownst to him.

It was with Alcremie, Nacli, Smoliv, and Butterfree in the sheep pen.

The three Gogoats seemed to have finished their disco, lazily lying in the shade, munching on Grassy Seeds while watching them.

Smoliv leaned against Gogoat, nodding off.

Seeing this scene, Naoki felt a bit surprised.

Glaceon has integrated into the farm so quickly?

He saw Alcremie holding a frozen wildflower, while five Naclis looked pitifully at Glaceon, with several small flowers placed in front of them.

Glaceon: ”...”

Just as Naoki thought it wouldn’t freeze flowers for Nacli, Glaceon, silent for a while, blew an Icy Wind towards those flowers.

The Naclis were thrilled, and Alcremie cheerfully handed the icy flower to Glaceon.

”Maa~”

Naoki couldn’t understand, but Koraidon did.

Alcremie was telling Glaceon: ”Alright, if it’s frozen, it won’t spoil! Place it where you sleep, and you can see it first thing every time you open your eyes~”

This was learned from Naoki; Alcremie saw him storing things in the fridge, saying that way food wouldn’t spoil.

Hearing this, Glaceon was slightly taken aback.

It hadn’t realized that Alcremie asking it to freeze the flowers was to give them to it.

The other five Naclis saw Alcremie’s gesture and followed suit, handing flowers to Glaceon.

Smoliv and Butterfree also looked delighted at this scene, hoping Glaceon might accept them.

Naoki, though he didn’t know what happened, seeing their harmonious interaction, couldn’t help but crack a smile.

”Alright, let’s get to work!” Naoki said with a grin.

”Arghs~”

”Roar~”

Cyclizar and Koraidon responded, then they began focusing on setting up the frames.

Today is March 15, though it’s still half a month until summer, some summer crops can start planting.

So, Naoki will be quite busy today.

Apart from constructing hop frames, he also needs to plow the land again, and when the spring horse race ends, he can start planting summer crops.

Like pumpkins, corn, and pineapple.

Pumpkins can be used to make pumpkin pie and pumpkin porridge.

Corn can be cooked directly, made into popcorn, or corn chowder, and used to make ribs soup.

Pineapple can be used to make sweet and sour pork, and pineapple rice.

Once these crops mature, he can whip up more delicious dishes!
