Immortality Begins with Breathing Exercises

Chapter 104: Chapter 68: Martial Dao Conviction (Part 3)

Going out of the city to clear the mountain bandits, if you’re lucky, a single income can equal the money made by storytelling for a year, not to mention the opportunity to make and sell poison.

”Mr. Lin, sit over here.”

Ning Hui saw Lin Zheyu walking over and shifted to the left, making space.

”Lord Qiu just came by and said that we will set out for White Stone Mountain in seven days. He asked you to prepare,” Xie Jiang said.

Guarding White Stone Mountain is divided into several groups. People stay at White Stone Mountain for a month, after which they can return, and the next deployment will last about three months.

”How are things over at White Stone Mountain?” Lin Zheyu asked.

”Recently, there have been two more robberies. They came well-prepared, but the losses weren’t significant.”

”Lord Qiu mentioned that this time you’ll be leading the team, taking charge of a region’s safety like those in the Refining Internal Organ Realm,” he was told.

”But that region is easy to defend and hard to attack, so the risks aren’t great.”

Xie Jiang looked Lin Zheyu up and down, his eyes full of curiosity: ”Did you really marry into the Xu Family? You’re only in the Bone Forging Realm, yet you’re entrusted with such significant responsibility.”

”It seems we’ll have to start calling you ’Sir’ from now on,” Ning Hui joked.

The structure of the Feihong Gang is straightforward. Several Refining Internal Organ Realm masters lead the Bone Forging Realm experts, who manage their subordinates.

Above the Refining Internal Organ Realm masters is the Gang Leader and the three great families.

Now, Lin Zheyu being entrusted with this task clearly indicates that he is being promoted to the position of a Refining Internal Organ Realm master.

”You can call me that if you like, but I’m more used to being called Mr. Lin,” Lin Zheyu said with a smile.

He speculated that it might be because news of his spar with Chen Mu yesterday had reached Mr. Xu’s ears, prompting such an arrangement.

”I initially thought of hanging onto your coattails, but you directly got promoted and reassigned to another area. What a pity,” Xie Jiang lamented.

”Don’t worry. As long as you don’t lose your head in a fight, things usually won’t go wrong. Jia Yanrong, you should be mindful of this and not follow in Zhou Jiang’s footsteps,” Lin Zheyu remarked.

Jia Yanrong: ”...”

”What does it have to do with me? I’m not that fool Zhou Jiang,” Jia Yanrong grumbled.

The Lunar New Year didn’t make much of a difference for Lin Zheyu compared to usual days.

If there was any difference, it was that the streets felt livelier, and Hundred Flavors Street boasted some previously unseen delicacies.

The taste was quite good.

Returning from the teahouse, Lin Zheyu started practicing the Wild Bull Fist in the courtyard.

The spar with Chen Mu yesterday gave him a lot of insights.

A powerful aura swirled around him. As Lin Zheyu threw a punch, an intangible wave of momentum emanated, striking awe in people’s hearts.

Thump, thump, thump

The dull sound continued to echo as Lin Zheyu immersed himself in the Wild Bull Fist, contemplating the ’momentum’ contained within the technique.

What is ’momentum’?

Lin Zheyu pondered this question.

The explosion of knowledge in his previous life didn’t make him an expert in any particular field, but he understood a bit of everything, albeit haphazardly.

He seemed to know a little about everything, but a closer examination revealed that he knew nothing at all.

By relying on the scattered knowledge from his past life and integrating it with the Martial Dao of Great Wei, Lin Zheyu had formed his own understanding.

’Momentum’ is the Essence, Qi, and Spirit twisted into one, a special magnetic field emitted under the support of spiritual beliefs, or one could say it’s an aura.

Different beliefs create different magnetic fields.

This intangible aura targets a person’s mind and spirit, stimulating the inherent instincts of living beings, making them sense danger and triggering instinctive reactions.

Faced with powerful ’momentum,’ even unintelligent beasts would instinctually harbor fear, trembling all over, and performing erratically.

This is where Chen Mu’s strength lies.

Those with weak minds fighting Chen Mu, faced with his bloodthirsty momentum, would feel a sudden, unreasonable fear.

They become tense and rigid as if encountering a natural enemy.

Although ’momentum’ is the special aura emitted when Essence, Qi, and Spirit are twisted into one, it’s not something you can cultivate just by having strong Essence, Qi, and Spirit.

This involves beliefs in the Martial Dao.

Only those with outstanding talent, who have comprehended their path in the Martial Dao and possess a strong belief in their Martial Dao, can concentrate ’momentum.’

Lin Zheyu’s belief in the Martial Dao isn’t his own but arises from understanding the Wild Bull Fist.

He has been practicing martial arts for only a few months, lacking the time to consolidate his own Martial Dao beliefs.

Thump, thump, thump.

The sound of thumping continued, with Lin Zheyu’s aura gradually rising. Each punch carried strong momentum, making it hard for others to breathe.

But before long, he stopped, frowning slightly.

”Still not right. Although the fist’s momentum is much stronger than before, it’s not as refined as Chen Mu’s,” Lin Zheyu muttered to himself.

Chen Mu’s ’momentum’ might not be as powerful as his, but it’s more consolidated, like a solid foundation of a towering building yet to be constructed.

However, his momentum is like a castle in the air, lacking a foundation.

Though there’s been some improvement recently, the higher it goes, the more precarious it becomes.

Both of them rely on understanding and integrating the implicit meaning in the cultivation technique to cultivate momentum.

The difference is that Chen Mu is always fighting, experiencing, validating his beliefs in the Martial Dao, reinforcing the foundation, and making his beliefs and the Frenzy Battle Skill’s momentum increasingly compatible.

Lin Zheyu, however, didn’t.

He relied on hard practice and his insights to understand.

”Chen Mu is right. On the path of the Martial Dao, one should be enterprising, gaining insights through life-and-death battles and validating one’s Martial Dao in bloody combat, forging a path through fighting.”

”It’s unwise to build cars behind closed doors when it comes to the Martial Dao.”

”Fighting, I need to keep fighting, validating my Martial Dao through combat.”

A flash of determination appeared in Lin Zheyu’s eyes, and his momentum became slightly more solid.

As he walked this path, his strength improved too quickly, with no time for any solidification.

In the early stages, this wasn’t much of an issue.

But later on, when the understanding of the Martial Dao is needed, and ’momentum’ needs to be consolidated, problems emerged.

What is belief in the Martial Dao?

In Lin Zheyu’s understanding, belief is experience, battle, insight; it’s the thing one persists in and pursues, even after enduring pain and hardships.

”So, what is my belief in the Martial Dao?”
