Immortality Begins with Breathing Exercises

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Fists Like an Ox

The sky was gradually brightening.

After winter arrived, the daylight hours shortened significantly.

Lin Zheyu had been standing for nearly an hour, face flushed and breathing slightly heavy, yet he still appeared full of energy.

”That’s enough.”

Liang Song said, inviting him over for a cup of tea.

Lin Zheyu straightened up, shook his slightly sore legs and arms, and a smile of excitement appeared on his face.

It’s accomplished.

He could finally start training in martial arts.

”With such a poor foundation, to train to this level within a month is quite impressive in terms of perseverance and comprehension.”

Liang Song remarked, feeling somewhat satisfied with Lin Zheyu.

He took a sip of tea and continued, ”First, let me talk about what Martial Dao is.”

Lin Zheyu sat quietly, listening with great concentration.

”The so-called Martial Dao, trains the muscles, bones, and skin externally, and refines the breath internally.”

”To practice martial arts well, you first need to temper the skin, muscles, and fascia.”

”By tempering the skin, muscles, and fascia, the muscles become firm and full, the tendons and muscles strong and powerful, the fascia stretchy and resilient, explosive power fierce, with strong resistance to strikes—this is the Muscle Training Stage of Martial Dao.”

”After training the skin, fascia, and muscles properly, next comes Bone Forging.”

”Bone Forging works from the outside in, tempering all the bones so they become extremely hard and robust, capable of withstanding explosive power better.”

”When the bones are trained to Great Success, they can be forged like iron, incredibly hard!”

”Bone Forging is quite challenging for you, as you haven’t undergone any tendon and bone tempering since childhood, reaching bone-like iron training is very tough.”

”What I mentioned above is training muscles, bones, and skin externally; now let’s talk about refining the breath internally.”

”The ’breath’ here refers to breathing techniques. After tempering the muscles, bones, and skin, control over the body improves further, which allows for starting cultivation of special breathing techniques.”

”Through special breathing techniques, the internal organs become stronger, breathing becomes deep and long, and physical strength, explosive power, and endurance reach extremely terrifying levels—this is Refining the Organs.”

”The first three realms in Martial Dao are Muscle Training, Bone Forging, and Refining the Organs.”

”For you now, knowing the first three realms of Martial Dao is about enough. The realms beyond those are still far from your reach, so I won’t tell you yet to prevent you from being overly ambitious.”

Liang Song said calmly.

He stood up, took off the outer garments he was wearing, revealing an undershirt and well-defined muscle lines beneath.

Seeing this, Lin Zheyu quickly got up to follow.

”It’s inappropriate to wield blades within the inner city, so I’ll teach you Wild Bull Fist.”

”This is a widely popular cultivation technique, suitable for someone like you who is starting martial arts halfway through life. The fist skill has decent power, but it is easy to learn, difficult to master.”

”When practiced to a profound level, it makes one strong inside and out, with hardened bones, capable of reaching Refining Internal Organs Perfection.”

”Wild Bull Fist consists of eight basic forms and 128 variations. I’ll perform it once for you to get familiarized.”

Liang Song assumed a stance and said.

Lin Zheyu realized that when Liang Song got serious, his limp seemed non-existent.

”Wild Bull Fist, Wild Bull Fist, this is a fist skill derived from the wild bull.”

”The essence of the fist’s profound meaning is in the word ’wild.’ When training, you need to imagine yourself as a wild bull, advancing with unstoppable force, fearless.”

Liang Song spread his legs slightly, squatted down, and assumed a stance, an invisible aura emanating from his body.

”This is the first form, Wild Bull Charge!”

Liang Song stomped his right foot abruptly, the leg muscles suddenly exerting force.

The tremendous power transmitted from both legs, using the waist as a pivot to the arms.

His upper body leaned slightly, the fists carrying incomparably strong power, charging out like two bull horns.

The muscles in his whole body exploded at that moment, the power pouring into his arms, transforming into a terrifying offensive that pounded on the wooden stake in the courtyard.

The wooden stake emitted cracking sounds, and hairline cracks appeared.

”So powerful!”

Watching the tremendous power released by Liang Song’s fist, Lin Zheyu couldn’t help but click his tongue.

”Wild Bull Fist, Wild Bull Fist, the ’wild’ runs through it all.”

”When striking, don’t have a moment of hesitation!”

Liang Song’s voice rang out, continuing to demonstrate to Lin Zheyu.

”This punch is Wild Bull Horn, with the focal point on the waist, the power of the waist and abdomen is...”

”This punch is Wild Bull Tail Swipe...”

...

Watching Master Liang practice, Lin Zheyu’s eyes shone.

This was true martial arts!

The powerful force that exploded with each punch and move filled him with aspiration.

Soon, the round of fist skills was finished.

Liang Song stopped and asked, ”How do you feel?”

”Very powerful!”

Lin Zheyu replied excitedly, bowing and saluting, ”Please teach me, Master!”

”There’s no need for so many formalities; scholars just love etiquette and formality.”

”Follow me and practice it from beginning to end, and I’ll see what your comprehension is like.”

Liang Song broke down the Wild Bull Fist, slowly explaining it to Lin Zheyu.

Under Liang Song’s guidance, he studied very seriously.

Practicing martial arts was much more difficult than he imagined, requiring control over different muscle parts’ force techniques, training methods, and then growing stronger through continuous practice.

Lin Zheyu was immersed in Wild Bull Fist, and time flew by.

”Very good, your comprehension is not bad.”

Liang Song praised.

Lin Zheyu had good comprehension and could understand with just a little guidance, making the teaching process a lot easier.

Moreover, his perseverance was extremely resilient.

After more than four hours of training, even with several rests in between, Lin Zheyu had exhausted his strength, yet he persisted stubbornly.

”Go through the Wild Bull Fist from start to finish, and I’ll point out your weaknesses,” Liang Song said.

”Yes!”

Lin Zheyu replied.

After more than four hours of learning and training, his body was already soaked in sweat.

The intense physical exertion, combined with lactic acid buildup, made his entire body ache immensely.

However, Lin Zheyu did not hesitate and began training once again.

Almost there!

Lin Zheyu felt he was nearing his limit!

After reaching the limit, if he perseveres for another minute or so and breaks through the limit, he would gain one unit of Source Power.

[Heavenly Dao Rewards the Diligent]

Name: Lin Zheyu

Source Power: 2

Skills:

Wild Bull Fist (Not yet proficient 3%)

Looking at the data in his consciousness, Lin Zheyu felt incredibly exhilarated.

As he imagined, martial skills could enter the skills column.

Filled with strong excitement, Lin Zheyu took the stance of Wild Bull Fist.

He stomped his foot abruptly, the muscles in his legs suddenly exerting force, transmitting through his waist to his arms.

His upper body leaned slightly, the fists carrying incomparably strong power, charging out like two bull horns.

First form, Wild Bull Charge!

As the fist struck out, Lin Zheyu immediately felt a surge of pain from the muscles in his waist, legs, and arms.

”Hiss, cramping!”

A moment ago, Lin Zheyu, who was majestic and spirited, now sat unceremoniously on the ground.

His body twisted in a strange way, trying to alleviate the cramping sensation.

”Haha...”

Seeing this, Liang Song couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

This kid, pushing his limits despite almost being physically drained.

Overtraining and then using the explosively powerful Wild Bull Fist can very easily lead to muscle cramping.

”Take a break; your body is close to its limit,” Liang Song said.

Stepping forward to reach Lin Zheyu, Liang Song extended his hand to massage and knead the cramping spots, immediately relieving Lin Zheyu’s pain.

”Thank you, Master.”

Lin Zheyu got up to stretch his muscles and relax his whole body, planning to continue later.

He was close to his physical limit and couldn’t give up now.

As long as he breaks through the limit, he could gain another unit of Source Power.

While listening to Liang Song talk about some basic knowledge of Martial Dao, Lin Zheyu relaxed his body.

Soon, he felt his muscles were nearly relaxed enough.
