Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 99: Volume 3 Chapter 9 If I Don’t Show My Power, You Think I’m Just a Sick Cat

Among the crowd, there were those few old soldiers from the Special Forces, staring disdainfully at the Repair Camp trainees, who looked like undernourished Big Head Karl types.

Fatty’s heart sank; this was the last thing he wanted to see.

These old soldiers were warriors emerged from the thick of battle, elite selected one in ten thousand from the army, future experienced grassroots commanders! If a fight broke out, the Repair Camp trainees would surely end up battered and broken, and these elites’ futures would be ruined.

The Repair Camp trainees cheered as the instructor arrived, quickly making way. Fatty squeezed through to a few trainees lying on the ground and carefully checked them over, feeling a weight lifted from his heart.

Even though a few guys were lying there groaning like they were in labor, in reality, they only had some minor injuries. Two of them didn’t know if they were too embarrassed to keep lying there when the instructor arrived or if they were cold and worried about getting rheumatism. They rolled around and got up with extreme agility.

Fatty felt disheartened. How come there’s no hero among my students, someone who’d take on a hundred and fight to the death?

After all this fuss, they were just a bunch of sly, sniveling weaklings, acting dead after a couple of hits, and lying in the arms of emotional girls, groaning with expressions that could either be pained or enjoyed. The sounds they made could be of pain or pleasure.

”Damn it, these guys have completely lost face for us. And here I was, rushing over anxiously, worried they’d get the worst of it!” Fatty’s face darkened as he stood up angrily and said, ”Get up, if you keep playing dead, I’ll break your legs!”

The Rascal Army moved faster than lightning. Just a moment ago, they were sprawled all over; in an instant, they were all standing.

Standing before the Special Forces, Catherine coldly snorted and said, ”Like instructor, like students! A bear of a soldier stays a bear, and your lot didn’t even put up a fight before lying down!”

”Got beaten up by a woman?” Fatty was furious! The few boys from the Repair Camp blushed with shame.

Fatty glanced over and didn’t recognize the girl speaking, but his sharp eye, trained on numerous chests, immediately recognized those 36D Big White Rabbits staring back at him.

Big White Rabbits, our paths were bound to cross!

Fatty glared at Catherine, who, seeing him staring at her chest with gritted teeth, blushed and yelled angrily, ”You perv, what are you looking at! Shameless!”

Snapping back to reality, Fatty thought, ”You stare at me with your chest, and I’m not supposed to look? What a strange idea!” Ignoring the fiery girl, he turned to the trainees and asked, ”Why did you start fighting?”

At this, the battered trainees began shouting, ”They were bullying us, saying our Repair Camp is full of undernourished losers, and what kind of radish feeds what kind of pig, and that our instructor is a dumb fatty.”

”Damn it!” Fatty was furious; these Special Forces rookies were just too much! Am I a radish or a pig?

Thinking carefully, minor quarrels between trainees are inevitable. As the instructor, if not handled well, this could escalate and be bad for everyone. So he calmly said, ”There’s no need to escalate small matters. With the current tense situation, any camp could become trench brothers. Especially for those who came for advanced studies, ready to be deployed to the Galileo battlefield anytime. Everyone knows the purpose of coming to the academy.”

Fatty’s gaze swept over the old soldiers from the Special Forces. They understood the Lieutenant was giving them a point and weren’t as tense as before.

”Newbies, selected cream of the crop by the Military Department, top of their fields, here not to stir trouble but to pursue your goals, whether becoming generals or marshals, there’s no need to waste energy on such trivial matters.” Despite the earnest nature of his words, given his young age, some Special Forces trainees pondered, but many remained dismissive.

”Alright, it’s no big deal, just a quarrel, don’t be so spineless! All disperse!” Fatty waved his hand.

Catherine, always displeased with Fatty, whispered to the girls beside her, ”See, I told you this Fatty is useless. The kind of instructor produces the kind of students. Good thing our instructor isn’t like him.” Though appearing to say it softly, everyone in the circle heard it.

The Special Forces trainees burst into laughter, looking at Fatty and the Repair Camp trainees with more disdain, appearing to see them all as a bunch of fools and trash.

The Repair Camp trainees’ faces turned livid. Fatty realized it was bad. If he didn’t stand up for his camp now, they’d never respect him again. They stood up for him; he had to protect their dignity.

Fatty, with his never-back-down nature, glanced at the Special Forces trainees coldly and said, ”Great, you guys must have learned nothing over the years. No idea what harmonious coexistence or respecting teachers mean!”

Despite being the instructor, the Special Forces trainees were silent; except Catherine, who couldn’t stand him, shouted, ”Who are you to be our teacher!”

Fatty pulled out a badge, hung it around his neck, and pointed to the words on it, ”Mecha and Weapon Design Manufacturing Department Assistant Professor Tian Xingjian, know how to read?”

Catherine was momentarily speechless, not expecting this despicable Fatty to be an assistant professor. After a bit, she jumped up and shouted, ”It’s fake! It must be fake! You’re pretending to be a professor. Someone like you can’t be an academy professor!”

Fatty hated such unreasonable accusations and smiling, said, ”Little sister, what part of me looks fake to you?”

Before the red-faced Catherine could respond, Fatty suddenly yelled, ”You say it’s fake, so it’s fake! Is this academy your family’s?”

”How old are you this year? Even if you’re not decades old, you’re at least carrying dozens of pounds!”

”Twisting words and distorting facts, don’t you know that’s boring?”

”With your disheveled hair and rude behavior, don’t you realize how disgraceful that is?”

When it comes to arguing, Catherine is no match for the battle-hardened Fatty. In her anger and frustration, she lashed out with a kick towards Fatty.

Fatty wasn’t used to fighting with women. He was fine with verbal sparring, but physical fighting was another matter. He couldn’t really indulge in a street fight with a woman, so he skillfully dodged her kick.

Seeing Catherine’s kick miss, she was about to launch another attack when suddenly a voice yelled, ”Stop!”

The person shouting was the instructor from the Special Forces Camp. The Special Soldier Captain who had betrayed Fatty entered, glared with wide eyes, and all the Special Forces Camp trainees instantly fell silent, even the fiery Catherine stood quietly to the side, not daring to make a move.

It looked like these trainees had been well disciplined by this Special Soldier Captain.

Seeing this guy, Fatty felt his anger rise. Back when he was a rookie, he was laughed at by the veterans too, but he never heard his own instructor diverting the hatred in such a way. This Captain was completely tactless. ”Damn it, your trainees are easy to handle, just divert the conflict towards me,” Fatty secretly cursed in his heart.

That Special Soldier Captain also didn’t give Fatty a warm welcome upon entering. In the army, favoring one’s own troops is a tradition. When one’s own subordinates cause trouble, the commanding officer usually doesn’t apologize. Instead, both sides would argue heatedly first and then determine who was right or wrong. The winning side, even if unreasonable, would only get scolded as little brats when they returned. The losing side, however, even if justified, would get severely berated and then undergo intense training until they never dared to disgrace themselves again.

Both protecting their own soldiers, Fatty and the Captain glared at each other like fighting cocks. The Captain said coldly, ”Thank you, Lieutenant Tian, for taking care of our Special Forces Camp trainees. However, next time if you need to discipline anyone, leave it to me. I’m afraid they don’t respect you!”

Seeing that this guy still didn’t know how to behave and wasn’t giving face, Fatty angrily retorted, ”To be honest, how your Special Forces Camp members act is none of my business. But since they’ve crossed paths with the Repair Camp, I must intervene. Whether I can handle it, my fists will do the talking. Beating a few Special Soldiers is like fighting brats; they won’t be able to fight back.”

The Captain was shocked at how rude Fatty was, constantly putting the label of trouble on the Special Soldiers, and casually saying he’d beat them up like brats... Suddenly filled with anger, he was about to retort when Catherine sneered at Fatty, ”You think you can beat Special Soldiers? Don’t make me laugh; you probably have all the qualifications to get beaten up.”

The Captain heard this and thought, hey, this girl understands. Fatty was just a Repair Camp instructor; in a fight, he wasn’t a match at all. If nothing else, a few veteran soldiers from the battlefield could easily handle him.

The female trainees from the Repair Camp were displeased and shouted, ”Our instructor can beat ten of you single-handedly!”

”Exactly, just a bunch of muscle heads. I don’t see anything else worth praising.”

Fatty quickly stopped the girls’ chatter. If this continued, they might still be arguing till nightfall. He sneered at Catherine, ”Don’t think a little three-legged cat kung fu makes you tough; you’re far from it!”

Catherine angrily replied, ”Even with this three-legged cat kung fu, it’s enough to deal with you! Why don’t you try, see if I don’t make you search for your teeth on the ground!” Then she suddenly switched her attention to the Special Soldier Captain, ”If I can’t, our instructor’s skills can easily take on ten of you!” Catherine was smart; she knew no matter the outcome, challenging the instructor wouldn’t lead to anything good. So she wisely included her own instructor in her statement.

The trainees from the Repair Camp fell silent with grim faces. If it came to a fight, they would be the ones knocked down. Though Fatty’s instructing on repair skills was superb, he wasn’t a Mecha weapon. Everyone remained silent, feeling a bit aggrieved.

The Special Forces Camp trainees, seeing their instructor say nothing, felt empowered and started jeering louder with all sorts of harsh words.

Fatty acted like he didn’t hear them, only smiling at Catherine, ”I don’t fight with women!”

Immediately, the Special Forces Camp trainees booed loudly.

Fatty walked to the training field’s edge, looked at the Special Forces Camp trainees, and said, ”Alright, let’s do this. I’ll do something, and you do the same. Whether trainee or instructor, if you can do it, I admit defeat!”

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Fatty delivered an extremely powerful whip kick, instantly breaking a tree as thick as a bowl in two. He then effortlessly kicked the tree’s crown more than ten meters away, followed by a rapid series of flipping movements that launched him into the air. A leg slammed onto the steel fence beside the tree, causing the wrist-thick fence to be deeply dented as if struck by an iron rod with maximum force. The loud collision between leg and metal left everyone stunned, and the fence continued to vibrate and hum long after!

The entire training field was in shock, absolute silence prevailed, with only the twisted fence humming audibly.
