Chapter 80: After Modification: Chapter 40 Low Ridge Jungle Operation (5)

”Second company, hold your ground and intercept. Everyone else, follow me and retreat,” Stewart immediately heeded Fatty’s advice. Now was not the time to have a hard fight with the Mythical Army—the mission’s target was Russell!

[Anger]’s firepower maintained suppression on the [Vajra], while the special forces of the second company were at the forefront, and the third company swiftly disengaged from the battle and retreated.

Severing a finger to save the hand! Sacrifices must be made to gain time and space! This is the unchanging rule of war. Whether covering the retreat or retreating themselves, they immediately executed the order without hesitation.

The third company had retreated. As [Anger] gradually left the battle, the pressure on the second company suddenly increased dramatically! Every time the position of interception was breached, it required the sacrifice of more than a dozen Warrior Leaders to buy time for another interception.

Fortunately, there was a Mecha sniper providing precise strikes to help stabilize the formation, otherwise, the second company wouldn’t be able to hold back the enemy’s ferocious assault!

”Boom!” Another [Demon Tiger] with a deep red energy shield was blown up.

Due to the electronic attacks from [Antenna], communications between the Mythical Mechas were completely cut off. Facing a sniper who was frenetically picking them off one by one, the [Demon Tigers] were at a loss. They did try to identify the sniping point to suppress it with long-range firepower, but the Federation Mecha sniper was undoubtedly a master of camouflage and sniping. The first energy bullet clearly came from the 2 o’clock direction, yet the second one came from the 11 o’clock position.

o’clock direction, 12 o’clock direction, 10 o’clock direction, 3 o’clock direction, dammit! 6 o’clock direction! When did this guy run behind our rear?!

The flanks of the [Demon Tigers] were suppressed by a Mecha sniper, unable to cooperate with the [Vajra]’s central strong breakthrough. This left [Vajra] 011, platoon leader Wallace, very angry. Although only a platoon leader, everyone in the Mythical Army knew the significant difference between piloting a [Vajra] and a [Demon Tiger]. Therefore, Wallace was the actual leader of this team, which included two platoon leaders.

Without communications, Wallace could only use Mecha hand signals to command. Nearly forty [Vajras] broke formation, spread out into four teams, while the [Demon Tigers] gathered in the center under his command, also infiltrating the Federation Mechas’ defensive formation in an interspersed manner.

Just making this hand signal immediately made Wallace the priority target of the Federation Mecha sniper.

”Concentrate fire on that Command Mecha, help me take down its energy shield!” All the special soldiers heard the voice of that sleazy Fatty on the regional communications channel.

Was this sly, chubby Fatty, who helped the special soldiers hold off the enemies’ assault for a full five minutes with a sniper rifle, the same person?

The Fierce Tiger special soldiers, who had witnessed the prowess of this sniper, desperately tried to direct their fire toward Wallace, but it was already too late. Two companies of [Demon Tigers] and a platoon of [Vajras] had already fully penetrated the Federation defensive formation. This time, even Fatty, unafraid of exposing his position and desperately shooting, couldn’t stop the Mythical Army’s attack.

Slaughter! Like a group of cavalry charging into an archer’s formation, with powerful impact, irresistible close combat capabilities, lightning-fast speed, and exquisite coordination, these Mythical Mechas made the Fierce Tiger special soldiers truly witness the skills and strength they had honed through long-term warfare!

”Retreat quickly! Disperse, disperse!” Fatty almost fainted seeing these Fierce Tiger special soldiers still desperately gathering together to reorganize their formation. The enemy’s target wasn’t them. As long as they dispersed, only a part would be lost. Currently, these guys were fully enraging a pack of ravenous wolves in the midst of slaughter!

It was too late! The experienced Mythical Mechas had completely separated the Fierce Tiger special soldiers. Some directly bypassed these gathered Federation Mechas and blocked the retreat path. Like ice melting rapidly in hot water, only a dozen or so Mechas from the outer periphery of the second company could successfully escape in the end.

Fatty, who had been watching Wallace, almost continuously fired shots to provoke this lightning-fast [Vajra], but its speed was too fast. It could change directions abruptly without warning, always managing to avoid the energy sniper cannon’s shots.

The wise adapt to the circumstances! Fatty sighed, put away the sniper cannon, and prepared to run. Several [Demon Tigers] had already left the Mythical Army’s formation and were rushing in his direction. Being surrounded meant big trouble.

The regional communications channel was already in chaos. Fatty connected to Stewart and said, ”Immediately take the target back the way you came, head northeast after exiting the ravine. There’s a special forces group from the Sixteenth Armored Division there for support! The rear-covering team shouldn’t get entangled, stall them for a bit and run quickly!”

Stewart no longer had any doubts about the staff officer’s words. This professional’s level was just as high as his own. Thinking back to the big talk he gave while patting the man’s shoulder on the transport ship made his face flush with embarrassment. Without hesitation, he agreed, leading the remaining Fierce Tiger special soldiers and Russell’s guard company to retreat back the original route.

Due to electronic attacks, several [Demon Tigers] were unable to use radar and could only search using normal optical mode. The main force of the Mythical Army had already chased ahead. They were ordered to find and kill the Mecha sniper who had made Wallace so embarrassed in this jungle.

”Damn it! I just fired a few shots from far away without hitting, and they send so many people. Where’s the professional ethos, isn’t there a bit of fair competition?” Fatty cursed inwardly. [Logic] had become a [Demon Tiger], this disguised [Demon Tiger] lowered its stance, crawling inch by inch through the dense bushes.

Five [Demon Tigers] responsible for the search spread out in a fan shape, maintaining almost identical distances from each other within visible range.

[Logic]’s instant camouflage worked. It was a disguise system that scanned the surroundings and simulated them in real-time, developed by Fatty himself. For behind-enemy-lines camouflage infiltration, he was an expert. If these life-saving gadgets weren’t used on [Logic], it would be irresponsible to his own life!

The leftmost [Demon Tiger] almost brushed against Fatty’s body as it entered the dense bush. Fatty lasciviously extended his claws, ”click,” and gently removed the power system from the unlucky [Demon Tiger]’s abdomen. This cheap trick was already familiar to him, more skilled than untying a woman’s bra, reaching the level of slicing an ox deftly.

As soon as the legitimate [Demon Tiger] collapsed, the disguised [Demon Tiger], which had changed color, stood up. The slight noise made the [Demon Tiger] to the right turn its head, only to see its companion peeking around the bushes.
