The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1635: Chapter 1635: Three Paths

The Old Yellow Bull used both its heads to think about this problem, and still couldn’t figure out why these human little bugs were suddenly being so nice to it.

Could it be——

They wanted to eat its meat, but were嫌弃 the taste, so they’d decided to fix up all this charred skin first, and only then take a bite?

This idea spun a lap through both its brains. Even though it felt kind of unreliable, for some reason a trace of expectation welled up in its heart——

If this bunch of human little bugs really are blind enough to eat its meat, that would be perfect! Then it wouldn’t have to waste any effort killing them; it could just poison them all to death.

One by one, one by one—so省心, and省事.

...

In the blink of an eye, the Old Yellow Bull’s heads took several mental detours. Then it lifted its head, stared at Ji You with two huge pupils, and let out a ”Moo——”

[Go on, eat.]

[Hurry up and eat.]

[Will you hurry up and eat already.]

Ji You blinked, looked puzzled, and asked, ”Eat what?”

The Old Yellow Bull choked, then blurted, ”MOO!!!”

[Stir‑fried beef with chili!]

Hearing that, Ji You almost couldn’t hold back her laughter. Then she deliberately straightened her face and said, ”Stir‑fried beef isn’t great; if you don’t control the heat right, the beef gets tough too easily. Compared to that, I prefer charcoal‑grilled beef. Braised beef works too, or maybe a radish and mixed beef offal hotpot... Then add a plate of peanuts, a little pot of wine, three or five friends gathered together, eating and chatting—wouldn’t that be perfect?”

The Old Yellow Bull: ”...”

Listening to the short little bug, the Old Yellow Bull suddenly developed a tiny bit of doubt toward the X‑grade poison its body came with by default. If this bunch of little bugs really did have a way to strip off the poison... wouldn’t they actually be able to eat it like that?

Thinking of this, the Old Yellow Bull couldn’t help but shiver all over.

That was completely possible.

The species called humans has truly endless tricks when it comes to food research—every kind under the sun, beyond counting. They’ve even divided it into all kinds of factions, like the Eight Great Cuisines, Sichuan, Shandong, Hunan, Cantonese...

No way!

The meat it had painstakingly raised for 200 years wouldn’t be enough for them to eat!

Once that thought came up, the Old Yellow Bull couldn’t sit still anymore, and had absolutely no mood to sleep. Anyway, its external wounds had already been repaired; the internal ones wouldn’t heal in a short time. Now, finding a place to hide and recuperate was the real business.

As for this bunch of human little bugs?

They could go wherever was nice and cool.

It had no time to bother with them.

With that thought, it lowered its gaze to the ropes wrapped all around its body. After one good sleep, its strength had finally recovered—it was time to tear them off!

Then.

While Ji You and the others were off guard, the Old Yellow Bull suddenly flipped itself over with a huge roll, and with one hard yank—before anyone could react—all the ropes tied around it snapped clean at once.

The instant the Old Yellow Bull gained its freedom, it didn’t say a word, just slipped away in a flash and ran far off.

Only then did Ji You and the others snap out of it and move in to give chase. Seeing that, the Old Yellow Bull flicked its tail in a sweeping arc around itself, then let out a thunderous roar:

”Moo——”

The Old Yellow Bull’s voice carried a powerful Spiritual Pressure that surged out in all directions, with special weight aimed toward Ji You and her group. Their movements faltered under the impact, and in that moment’s delay, the Old Yellow Bull ran even farther away.

In the blink of an eye——

The Old Yellow Bull had sprinted off until there wasn’t even a shadow left.

Ji You gripped the snapped rope, looked toward the direction the Old Yellow Bull had run, and asked, ”Senior, are we really letting it go?”

He Bi gathered up the ropes as he answered, ”We’ve already successfully entered the Space Rift. Its mission is complete. Dragging it along to risk life and death with us would be pretty unkind. Let’s give it its freedom.”

Hearing this, Ji You felt her teeth ache and couldn’t help rolling her eyes. ”You make it sound like you were so kind when you were using it. It’s only because we can’t eat its meat; otherwise, there’s no way it’d walk even a single meter out of here alive today.”

He Bi shot Ji You a sideways look. ”Hurry up and wind your rope back. We don’t have time to waste. And you—” He Bi glared at Chu Jiaojiao, who’d been slacking off to steal glances at Ji You’s face. ”What are you dawdling for? What’s so great about her face? Isn’t it just two eyes and one mouth? You expecting it to bloom into a flower?”

Chu Jiaojiao raised a hand to scratch her head, then said with a big grin, ”Senior, you don’t know how to appreciate beautiful things.”

He Bi replied, ”I really don’t.”

Just then——

Sitting at the main pilot seat of the spaceship, Shen Changqing suddenly said, ”Senior, that Two‑headed Bull has completely left our detection range.”

As soon as he finished, the people swapping bickering banter all fell silent. Everyone wiped the grins off their faces and became extremely serious—though not because the Old Yellow Bull had escaped or any such trivial matter.

In truth, the Old Yellow Bull had never been part of the team’s original plan. The reason they’d deliberately let it go was precisely because having a fully uncontrollable level‑12 Star Beast hanging around was like keeping a live bomb at your side, one that could go off and blow you to bits at any moment... So of course they weren’t going to keep it.

Then what about killing it?

They certainly could, but the problem was that Ji You and the rest didn’t currently have the ability to do it. Besides, they’d used it to escape the tunnel, and even used it to obtain a piece of the tunnel wall...

When you think about it, the Old Yellow Bull had actually helped a lot. On the strength of that little bit of incense‑favor owed along the way, Ji You and the others had secretly discussed it and decided to let it go and give it freedom.

Right before releasing it, out of sheer humanitarianism, they’d even patched up its wounds.

Like this——

They hadn’t let the Old Yellow Bull’s help go to waste.

Of course, that bit of incense‑favor was nowhere near enough for them to treat it as a friend. If they met again and the Old Yellow Bull developed the intent to kill them, they absolutely wouldn’t show any mercy.

In short, as far as the Old Yellow Bull was concerned, they’d already done all that could be expected.

The Space Rift might not sound large, but once you’re actually inside it, you realize how vast it is—practically like a boundless void.

Wandering around aimlessly just wouldn’t do. So everyone decided to proceed according to the original plan.

He Biwen asked, ”Have we mapped out the routes to the target coordinates clearly?”

This time, it wasn’t Shen Changqing who answered, but Yue Qiguang, sitting beside him in an auxiliary role. Yue Qiguang, usually loud and carefree, spoke now with rare seriousness and precision: ”We’ve finished mapping. After careful investigation, there are three routes in total leading to the target coordinates ahead. One is the direction the Old Yellow Bull ran off to, but that’s also the farthest. We’ve no idea what could happen along the way.

Of the other two, one is relatively shorter, estimated to take about 21 hours to reach. But we’d have to pass through a stretch of darkness. When we sent our detectors into that area, we received no response at all...” At that point, Yue Qiguang paused and looked at Senior He Bi, then said, ”The third route is the shortest, roughly 10 hours. And that route is—the direction that terrifying Monster from the frog eggs took when it left——”
