The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1629: Chapter 1629: Abandoned Spaceship

”How can there be no one on the spaceship?”

”Are you sure it’s Shen Sheng’s spaceship?”

”Could it be a mistake?”

...

Chu Jiaojiao, Yue Qiyuan, Yue Qiguang, and others gazed at the spaceship quietly floating outside the channel, their hearts sinking.

Ji You didn’t say a word. She stared intensely at the decorations on the spaceship to confirm if it was indeed the one Shen Sheng took.

Unfortunately, what you fear always comes.

When she saw the bold lettering ’K-Q75’ on the spaceship, Ji You’s heart instantly chilled.

But, the Alliance doesn’t have just one K-Q75 spaceship; it might be piloted by someone else, who knows.

However, no matter who is piloting it, appearing in such a manner in such a situation always weighs heavily on one’s heart.

Ji You’s heart was in turmoil, and after seeing the ship’s marking, she noticed a few bold red characters floating on a board hung on the ship:

[Haolai, enjoy your meal and return.]

Ji You’s expression changed instantly.

After converging, Ji You saw these bizarre advertising words on the spaceship and asked Shen Sheng, ”What’s going on? Does your spaceship advertise for people?”

Haizailai Restaurant is an interstellar food giant, not only flourishing at Kite Space Station but also across All Star. Ji You had the fortune to eat there once; it was indeed delicious, but also indeed expensive, equivalent to starving for dozens of meals after having one.

Ji You didn’t expect to see a ’Haizailai’ advertisement on the way to the Space Rift, marveling at the sight.

Shen Sheng grinned, honestly explaining, ”Haolai signed an advertising contract with our First Army. I won first place in the interschool league, so I became the spokesperson for this quarter. Therefore, all food supplies on the spaceship are provided by Haolai. However, the advertisement arrangements are fully managed and vetted by the school PR department, and my task is just to focus on eating.”

Ji You: ”!!!”

Ji You said, ”... Is there such a good thing?”

Shen Sheng raised his hand, scratched his head, and said with a bright smile, ”The food from Haolai tastes really good.”

Ji You rushed into the food storage cabin of the K-Q75 spaceship for a look. Goodness, fruits, vegetables, meat, snacks, nutrient solutions... an extensive array with countless varieties, making Ji You insanely jealous!

Ji You remembered her unsightly expression at the time, her demeanor shattered.

Now, looking at those bold advertising words, Ji You’s mood was mixed with worry.

”There’s no mistake.”

”That is Shen Sheng’s spaceship.” Ji You frowned and said, ”What’s going on? Why is there no one on the spaceship?”

Shen Changqing sat in the spaceship’s main driver’s seat, and as soon as Ji You finished speaking, he took out a long-distance detector, aiming it towards K-Q75.

However, at this moment, X-N3848 is inside the channel while K-Q75 is outside; separated by the channel wall, the detector cannot approach closely, only remotely observe.

Thus, Shen Changqing can only investigate the external conditions of the spaceship; whether there are people inside remains unknown.

Shen Changqing shared the detection data with everyone and continued, ”From external conditions, there are no noticeable signs of battle on the spaceship nor any damage; a fierce fight likely hasn’t occurred.”

”Then why is everyone missing?” Yue Qiguang, impatient, asked, ”Did they fly away?”

Shen Changqing remained silent for a moment and said, ”There are two possibilities: either they are all hiding inside the spaceship’s cabin, or they have all left.”

Chu Jiaojiao shook her head and said, ”The possibility of all hiding is low; we can see them, they must also be able to see us. Since they know we’re sending detection signals to K-Q75, they will respond unless—”

”Unless they encountered troubles preventing them from responding to us.” Shen Changqing interjected, thinking about the giant frog egg-like strange Star Beast, he frowned and said, ”Could that Star Beast be back again?”

”Let’s not dwell on others and situations right now; prioritize escaping danger first.” He Bi, eyes half-closed, interrupted everyone’s exchange, softly saying, ”Continue maintaining observation on that spaceship, and particularly pay attention to this Two-headed Bull’s responses, as it’s more sensitive than us.”

”Isn’t it stronger?” Yue Qiguang, unwilling to accept anyone, for the first time wanted to respect a Star Beast.

Indeed, survival of the fittest, nature is most ruthless. Star Beasts that survive to such an age possess wisdom.

The spaceship kept advancing with the Two-headed Bull; previously, the lazy and sluggish bull that needed whipping to move was suddenly overly enthusiastic, running rapidly without needing Ji You and the others to urge, as if colossal beasts were chasing it; while running, its hard-repaired skin cracked, which it ignored.

This scenario feels abnormal.

Without Senior He Bi’s orders, Shen Changqing increased the spaceship’s speed, ensuring it stayed tightly behind the Two-headed Bull.

After hours of travel, running for approximately two hours, the Two-headed Bull finally halted.

At this point, the Two-headed Bull refused to move further regardless of Ji You and others’ urging.

The space channel ahead, shaped like a funnel, with one large, wide end and one narrow end, features Ji You and others’ position at the junction of the two.

A few more steps forward and they could step into the narrow section.

The Two-headed Bull didn’t budge, blocking the path ahead; X-N3848 couldn’t proceed.

He Bi raised his hand, saying, ”Everyone stop and wait attentively.”

The Two-headed Bull’s actions are certainly purposeful.

He Bi squinted, asking, ”Shen Changqing, is K-Q75 still within our surveillance range?”

Shen Changqing shook his head, saying, ”No. K-Q75 hasn’t moved, confirming it’s in unmanned, forced stop status.”

He Bi’s brows furrowed.

Ji You took a deep breath and said, ”Now, I rather believe Shen Sheng’s group surely faced an issue. However, they probably didn’t die; they encountered extremely dangerous situations, compelling them to abandon the spaceship.”

As strategic equipment, Mecha can conduct space flights; however, a Mecha’s cabin is narrow, holding limited life supplies and cannot provide a comfortable environment for resting and living, which spaceships can offer.

Thus, unless facing significant crises or other necessity-forced special circumstances, no one abandons their spaceship in the void of space.

Hence, the question arises—

Where did Shen Sheng’s group go? What did they encounter?
