The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: Poison Tongue Strikes

In the days that followed, Ji You and his classmates continued their routine training. After confirming the 10 students representing the 131st cohort in the inter-school competition, Teacher Mu Jianling seemed to have completely forgotten about it. He neither mentioned it in class nor conducted special training for the 10 participants, adopting an attitude of ”let fate take its course.”

After emphasizing the importance of the competition results to the 10 participants, Teacher Mu Jianling didn’t provide any additional training, but rather maintained a laid-back attitude. This wasn’t just puzzling to outsiders; even the students of the 131st cohort couldn’t hold back. After class that day, Zhang Ye couldn’t restrain himself any longer, stood up, and loudly asked, ”Teacher... with less than 5 days left until the inter-school competition, shouldn’t you be giving Ji You and his peers some special guidance?”

Mu Jianling asked, ”What kind of guidance?”

Isn’t that asking the obvious? Zhang Ye was taken aback, explaining, ”Teacher, aren’t you worried that Ji You and the others won’t get a good ranking? With so many schools in the Alliance, and so many top competitors involved, shouldn’t they be intensifying their practice right now? We can’t just leave Ji You and the others to practice on their own. Teacher, you should provide them with special guidance.”

”Oh?” Mu Jianling raised an eyebrow and continued to ask, ”I still don’t understand what kind of guidance you’re asking about?”

”...” Zhang Ye was left speechless, finally replying, ”The kind of guidance that would help them achieve a ranking in the competition.”

Mu Jianling had a sudden realization, with a ’now I get it’ expression, then she squinted slightly and said, ”None.”

Zhang Ye almost choked, truly lost for words.

All the students in the 131st cohort’s Combat Department raised their heads, staring intently at Teacher Mu Jianling. The expressions on their faces were indescribable upon hearing that.

This—

This—Is Teacher Mu afraid that our school won’t lose? Is that why she’s deliberately discouraging the contestants?

As these thoughts crossed their minds, Mu Jianling glanced at the students, focusing on Ji You, Chu Jiaojiao, Shen Changqing... and she spread her hands, looking like she wasn’t joking, saying, ”Truly none.”

Students: ”...”

Under the stupefied gazes of the students, Mu Jianling was ready to dismiss the class but suddenly remembered something. She said, ”Oh, I almost forgot, the competition is in 5 days, and the venue has been confirmed. It’s at First Military Academy on Nami Star, and it takes 3 days to travel there from here. Participants must arrive a day early, meaning you can stay at school for one more day.”

At this point, just as everyone thought Teacher Mu Jianling would get to the point, like arranging extra training for Ji You and the others, they heard her say, ”For the next day, just do whatever you like. Train if you want to, or don’t. It’s up to you.”

Students: ”...”

Not just Zhang Ye, but even the other students couldn’t hold back, and suddenly the whole training room was filled with chatter:

”Teacher! We can’t give up.”

”Teacher! Losing the battle before even starting is a sign of impending defeat!”

”Teacher! This can’t be! Extra training! You must give them extra training! Our Lanyue Star Military Academy is ranked tenth in the Alliance, we can’t let outsiders mock us!”

”Teacher...”

...

Mu Jianling felt as though her ears were housing a bunch of sparrows, their noise giving her a headache. However, her face remained cold, seemingly indifferent to the students’ enthusiastic suggestions.

Unlike the other students, who were tense, anxious, and restless, the representatives of the school—Ji You, Chu Jiaojiao, Shen Changqing... appeared very calm, not looking particularly worried.

Zhong Qing, Penny, Zhang Ye, Xuzhou... all looked over: ”Hmm?”

They’re not worried?

Could it be—

That Teacher Mu gave them secret training?

But!

No, she didn’t.

Whether it’s Zhong Qing, Penny... who spent little time with Ji You and others, or Xuzhou, Zhang Ye, who dined with Ji You every day, all are sure that no secret training occurred. Their daily activities are clear and visible, with no ’secret extra training’ at all.

Why aren’t they worried?

...

Everyone was a bit confused. Suddenly, Xuzhou looked at the ever calm Ji You and began to understand: Ji You and his peers have never been slack in their training, not wasting a single minute or second, so they aren’t worried.

Their calmness does not stem from indifference but rather their immense self-confidence in their abilities.

Xuzhou couldn’t help but clench his fist gently:

—the gap between herself and Ji You and the others is still great, still very great.

Meanwhile—

Mu Jianling couldn’t stand the chaotic, non-constructive chatter anymore. Her face suddenly turned grim, and she said, ”Everyone shut up.”

Woosh~

In an instant, the training room fell completely silent.

Mu Jianling said, ”Does everyone think we need extra training?”

The students widened their eyes, remaining silent, but it’s clear that this was on everyone’s mind.

Then, Mu Jianling let out a scornful laugh, saying, ”If your foundation isn’t solid, even if you do intensive training 10 times, 100 times, or a thousand times, it’s useless. For example, any of you amateurs could be easily overpowered by even one of Ji You and the other nine. Do you believe it or not?”

Students: ”...”

This...

Out of nowhere, she made a personal attack, and the scope of this personal attack was broad, hitting everyone in the room, leaving knees metaphorically pierced.

Mu Jianling raised an eyebrow: ”You don’t believe it?”

At this point, the students were wise, no one dared to provoke the tiger in front of them, and they collectively shut their mouths.

Mu Jianling said, ”Weaklings who can’t even qualify for participation, yet you have time to worry about others.”

Students: ”...”

Hearing this, the students’ originally dark pupils became watery, eyes almost about to shed tears!

Enough.

Enough said.

Otherwise, there’s no hole to crawl into.

...

Amidst the students’ overwhelming shame and flushed faces, Mu Jianling was satisfied and finally spoke reason, ”Cramming at the last minute is useless. Once on the battlefield, whether it’s an arena or a frontline fight... to survive, you need formidable strength! And how is that strength accumulated? Is it in 1 day? 2 days? 3 days... accumulated? If you think you can dramatically improve your strength in a short time, then you shouldn’t go to war. Go directly to a pig farm—in a pig farm, those pigs are your real competitors.”
