The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1124: Chapter 1124: Cunning

The little gray rabbit was like a frightened bird, and at the moment it heard the alarm, it took off running, disappearing without a trace in a flash.

Ji You’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot.

System: ”Warning, warning, warning... You have only 1 minute left of training time. Do you wish to continue? If not renewed after the countdown ends, you will automatically exit the training room. Countdown starting now—59 seconds, 58 seconds, 57 seconds...”

Ji You took a deep breath, staying calm, and said, ”Continue.”

Did it really not take long?

How did an hour just pass by like that?

Ji You murmured to herself and then heard the temporary rental training room system say, ”Confirming renewal, it will deduct 5000 credit points OR 50 points per hour. Do you wish to confirm?”

”What?” Ji You was shocked, ”Wasn’t it supposed to be free for me?”

Principal Hong and Director Wang themselves granted me free access; how could I be charged now?

This doesn’t make sense?

System: ”Student, your free period has expired.”

Ji You angrily said, ”Don’t lie to me, I was supposed to be free. I never heard that my free access had a time limit.”

System: ”The system never lies, I just execute tasks according to the program. If you have questions, please bring them to the school administration office.”

Ji You really didn’t want to pay those 5000 credit points. She immediately dialed Director Wang’s contact number. When Director Wang answered, he had a smiling face, his plump face almost losing sight of his eyes, looking like the Laughing Buddha: ”Oh, it’s little Ji You... is there something you need?”

”Old Wang... *cough cough*... Director Wang!” Ji You forcefully changed her address, though she changed it, the expression on her face and tone of voice were full of a confrontational and troublemaking aura, ”Director Wang, isn’t it a bit low of you to cancel my free access without notice? Is this something a decent person would do?”

Director Wang listened to Ji You’s almost spitting-blood angry complaint and still smiling calmly, said, ”Oh... you’re talking about this? It’s not a big problem, you were initially given a 10-day free period.”

Ji You: ”Who said that?”

Director Wang: ”The principal.”

Ji You: ”...”

Ji You was so angry she almost exploded, and she started acting up right away: ”10 days? I didn’t agree, I don’t allow it, and I don’t care; you must immediately, right now, give me back my free access.”

Dealing with sly and crafty people like Director Wang, there’s no need to mind manners. Go as audaciously as possible, throw a tantrum, whatever necessary... The key is: absolutely don’t be reasonable.

Director Wang continued smiling calmly, ”Oh, that’s not within my jurisdiction. If you want to make a suggestion, you can talk to Principal Hong.”

Ji You: ”...”

Principal Hong is even more ruthless than Director Wang...

Ji You grit her teeth, ”Are you guys in cahoots? Purposely giving me access, let me get a taste, and once I can’t do without it, you want to bleed me dry? Let me tell you, even if I, Ji You, get my brains beaten out today, I definitely won’t bow down to you—”

The next second, although Ji You wore a bitter expression, her mouth seemed to be coated with honey, ”Director Wang... could you kindly tell me, what condition will it take for you to let me regain my free access privileges.”

Director Wang looked innocent: ”I can’t, I don’t have the power to do that.”

Ji You chuckled, ”There’s always more solutions than problems, don’t just cut things off, let’s discuss, let’s all just discuss it nicely.”

Director Wang put on a strict face: ”It’s not entirely undiscussable...”

Ji You waited for him to continue.

In the next second, she heard Director Wang say, ”I can offer you a bit of a discount, like a year’s use of the training room, repair room, library... all these school open or semi-open facilities can be free for you, provided that—you pay an annual fee of 50 million credit points.”

”...” Ji You rolled her eyes, ”... why don’t you just rob, going through all these twists and turns? Wouldn’t it be much easier to just rob?”

Director Wang spread his hands, ”Robbing isn’t fun.”

Ji You: ”...”

In the training room, Ji You grabbed a chair, sat down, and also spread her hands, ”Let’s be sincere, let’s all be sincere, let’s not talk about money, because if we talk about money, there’s nothing to discuss. Director Wang, just say it, are there any other conditions?”

Director Wang, looking at the casually leg-shaking and not caring about her image silly student Ji You across the screen, smiled and said, ”To be direct, if you can get into the top ten in this intercollegiate contest, as a reward, the school can open all the facilities and equipment used for studying and training to you.”

Ji You: ”!!!”

Ji You gritted her teeth: ”So it turns out you’re not genuinely trying to let me use it for free, you’re waiting on me.”

Director Wang raised an eyebrow, ”What? Afraid?”

”Afraid?”

”Afraid of nothing!” Ji You grit her teeth hard, ”In my dictionary, the word ’afraid’ doesn’t exist!”

Director Wang: ”Taking on the task?”

Ji You clapped her hands forcefully: ”Taking it on!”

A single word, firm and resolute.

Director Wang smilingly said, ”You’re choosing to take on the task now, but since you need some time to prepare, you can’t complete the task immediately. Therefore, we will temporarily switch to charge mode. Once you complete the task, all the credit points you’ve spent will be fully refunded, how about that?”

Ji You stared at him, ”What if I don’t rank?”

Director Wang, still smiling, said, ”If you don’t rank, it’ll be charged as usual.”

Ji You hummed, ”Crafty...”

Director Wang suddenly switched from smiling to a slightly miserable expression, sighed heavily, and said, ”You kids just don’t understand the hardship of us teachers... In order to maintain the reputation and brand of the Lanyue Star Military Academy within the Alliance’s Top Ten Universities, we have to rack our brains and plan carefully. Look at you... I’m asking you to strive for the top, to seize a top ten spot, isn’t it beneficial to you? And it’s also a great benefit to the school. The more positions our school achieves in the intercollegiate contest this time, the better, then we can uphold our Top Ten Schools’ honor.”

”Sigh!” Director Wang sighed and said, ”It’s hard! It’s hard. Students just care about themselves, not about the school’s honor and prestige... In the end, it falls on us old folks to manage it all?”

Saying so, Director Wang almost squeezed out a couple of tears, making Ji You’s molars ache from watching.

...

Still couldn’t hold out, after having paid the fee to rent the training room, Ji You threw herself back into the tense atmosphere.
