Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 553: Results

”That damn little girl! I will definitely spank her ass if we meet again in the future.” Zhang Fei then fell into deep thought regarding the identity of the little girl, her master, and the Star Tower. ʼHey, Mei! Do you think the founder of this tower was a person in the upper realms?ʼ

[Iʼm not sure about it, Master. However, I detected an unusual Qi emanating from the stone obelisk, which differs from the Qi of the cultivators from the upper realms you have previously encountered. Moreover, Xian Xianqin said that this tower suddenly appeared by itself, and Feng Yao had no information about it. Hong Xinxin never mentioned it, leading me to believe that the founder of this tower was a person from a realm beyond the upper realms.]

ʼThat may be true, but why would someone from that realm send this tower to this realm? What is the purpose of that person giving us so many challenges?ʼ Zhang Fei then looked up. ʼThis tower still has nine more floors, but the challenges on the first floor are already numerous and challenging. The challenges from the second to the tenth floor will be even harder, so itʼs natural that they canʼt go up to the tenth floor.ʼ

[I canʼt give you a definite answer about that, and you need to try to challenge up to the 10th floor to get the answer, Master. The people from this realm may not be able to reach the 10th floor, but you are different from them. Since you are the only living being with three identities and possess numerous cheats, I am confident that you will surpass them and reach that floor in the future.]

ʼForget it! I donʼt want to think about it now.ʼ Zhang Fei then looked at the screen above him, and he saw several names appear there. Within a few seconds, members of the beast and natural races reappeared in the room.

All of them were shocked when they saw Zhang Fei, so they immediately looked at the screen to see the results. They found his name at the top of the list, which meant he was the first person to complete the demon heart challenge.

Zhang Fei himself was surprised by their success in completing the challenge so quickly. He did not doubt that the members of the natural races could pass it easily, but he did not expect that some people from the beast races could also pass it so easily.

The Long siblings exchanged glances for a moment before approaching Zhang Fei, and Long Chen immediately spoke to him. ”It seems that our fatherʼs assessment of you was correct, and you are indeed not an ordinary cultivator, Brother.”

”At first, we were doubtful about his praise of you, but your strength test results opened our eyes, and we believe in his assessment now.” Long Tian added.

The Long siblingsʼ words caused some of the natural races to raise their eyebrows, but Zhang Feiʼs next words made them realize that they had misunderstood his relationship with the beast races. ”Emperor Long Huang and Empress Long Baiyun only saw me from a distance, and we have never known each other, so his praise of me is too much.”

”Hahaha!” Long Chen laughed upon hearing that. ”You are not wrong about that, but we are the dragon race, and we have very sensitive best instincts. In fact, our father never praised us, but he praised you instead, so his praise of you is not excessive.”

Long Tian then spoke to Zhang Fei as well. ”To be honest, our father is eager to spar with you, but your current strength is still significantly inferior to his. Thatʼs why our father has asked us to test your strength, and we hope you are willing to spare some time to spar with us during the survival challenge.”

”Sure.” Zhang Fei immediately agreed to their request. ”Since your cultivation surpasses mine, we must spar without our cultivation, and we will fight solely based on our physical strength and abilities.”

”All right, we will fight without our cultivation.” The Long siblings immediately agreed with this, particularly because their self-esteem was as high as their fatherʼs, and they had no intention of bullying a cultivator with a lower cultivation level.

”Can you show us your beast form, Brother?” Zhang Fei raised his eyebrows in response to Long Tianʼs question. ”Our father told us that you are actually a beast, and your beast identity is not an ordinary beast but a mythical beast like us dragons, so we were curious about it.”

Zhang Fei did not immediately answer Long Tian, but he first looked at the members of the natural races, who were looking at him in shock and curiosity.

Zhang Fei then transformed into his fox form, which shocked the members of the natural race. After all, his fox form was already very large, and he also had five tails. Unlike them, the Long siblings were not surprised to see this, especially since Long Huang had already informed them that he was a heavenly fox.

One of the members of the natural races, the young woman with wavy brown hair, rides a brown wolf, dashing toward them. Three people from the natural races immediately moved to follow her, and they observed Zhang Fei seriously.

Xin Xianzi, a petite woman with long pink hair and four wings behind her back, nodded repeatedly. ”You are a heavenly fox, right?”

Zhang Fei had already guessed that people from the natural races would recognize his fox identity, and he wanted to use it to establish a relationship with them, so he immediately agreed to the Long Siblingʼs request to show his fox form.

”Thatʼs right, I am a heavenly fox.” Zhang Fei immediately returned to his human form. ”Only a few of them know the identity of my beast, so I hope you guys donʼt talk about it when they return.”

The people of both races immediately nodded in agreement, and the young woman with wavy brown hair right away introduced herself. ”My name is Xian Jinglan, and I am an elf. Meanwhile, this wolf is my friend, Lang.”

”As for me, I belong to the fairy race.” Xin Xianzi then pointed at their two friends. ”Even though his body is not very big, Zheng Ru is a descendant of the giant race. The short guy is Jin Dabao, and he is a member of the dwarf race.”

”Hey, Xianzi! Iʼm short, but you are much smaller than me!” Jin Dabao protested the fairy girl in an annoyed tone.

”Hehehe.” Xin Xianzi giggled at that, but then she questioned Zhang Fei. ”Why did you join the humans? Since you are a beast, wouldnʼt it be better if you joined us or the two princes of the beast race?”

Zhang Fei shook his head at Xin Xianzi. ”Many of you think that humans are evil, but I am different from you. Not all of them are evil, and many of them are much better than beasts or natural races, so it doesnʼt matter to me if I join them.”

”You are right.” Xian Jinglan replied as she nodded. ”Not all humans are evil, but most are very evil, so we never want to be friends with them.”

”You have your own choices, and I have my own choices, so you donʼt need to force yours on me.” Zhang Fei then turned to the group of people who had just appeared. ”Letʼs talk again after weʼve gone through all the tests.”

All of them immediately agreed with that, especially since the people who had just appeared were evils from the three kingdoms.

ʼThey also succeeded in passing the demon heart challenge, huh?ʼ Zhang Fei murmured to himself as he observed the members of the royal families of the Huangfu, Zhou, and Bai Kingdoms.

Those people also glanced at Zhang Fei, but they frowned upon seeing him surrounded by people from both the beast and natural races, causing various questions about their relationship to arise in their minds.

Once they saw the results on the screen and saw Zhang Feiʼs name first, the people from the Huangfu and Bai Kingdoms directly spoke with each other, though they did so via voice transmission.

Even though he couldnʼt hear their conversation, Zhang Fei could tell from their gazes that they were plotting something against him. He also noticed Zhou Tong frequently glancing at him while he was giving instructions to his three family members. ʼI love peace, but crazy people keep coming and looking for trouble with me. Since youʼre all plotting something against me, Iʼll play along with your game, and you guys must be prepared to suffer.ʼ

Two hours later, some people from the Yun and Xian Kingdoms also reappeared in that room, such as Guo Jihai, Li Yao, Shu Zhen, Xian Mu, Xian Yu, and Xian Qifeng.

Unfortunately, Zhang Feiʼs group still hasnʼt returned from their test, which worries him. He isnʼt worried about the other members, but he is worried that Xian Xianqin will fail her test.

ʼWhen did he become acquainted with the people from the beast and natural racesʼ kingdoms? Do they intend to bring him to their side?ʼ Xian Changyue, who had just appeared, immediately muttered in her heart. She then approached them and asked Zhang Fei. ”When did you complete your challenge?”

”Why donʼt you see it yourself?” Zhang Fei gestured to the screen above them.

”Hmm?” The sight of Zhang Feiʼs name momentarily stunned Ximen Changyue. ”I didnʼt expect you to complete the demon heart challenge so quickly. Does this mean you have no regrets in your heart?”

”No.” Zhang Fei shook his head at Xian Changyue. ”Regrets will only hinder our development, and I donʼt want my development to be hindered. I have long since thrown away all the regrets in my heart, so the demon heart challenge is too easy for me.”

”Youʼre right about that, brother.” Long Chen suddenly spoke. ”Unfortunately, not everyone can throw away the regrets in their hearts as easily as you, so the demon heart challenge is really troublesome for them.”

”It took us some time to overcome our demon hearts.” Long Tian added with a soft sigh.

Xin Xianzi, the fairy, suddenly asked. ”Have you ever killed anyone, Zhang Fei?”

”Is that even a question, Senior Xianxi? We are cultivators, and the world of cultivation is too cruel, so killing or being killed is inevitable.” Xin Xianzi and the others nodded in agreement to Zhang Fei. ”Honestly, I have lost count of the number of living beings I have killed, especially since there were too many of them. Although I have killed so many, I have never regretted my decision to kill them because they are my enemies, and I will continue to kill everyone who chooses to be my enemy.”

They didnʼt say anything and looked at Zhang Fei in disbelief, but they were aware that they couldnʼt be weak-hearted as cultivators, and they had to be prepared to dirty their hands with blood, especially the blood of their enemies.

Xian Changyue also looked at Zhang Fei and thought to herself. ʼHeʼs so young, but his resolution is much firmer than that of many senior cultivators, including me. Unlike him, I have spared my enemies too many times, but my decisions only add to my troubles.ʼ

Meanwhile, the people from the other three kingdoms continued to glare at Zhang Fei, and their eyes showed that they were mocking him for his words just now.

Sometime later, many challengers, including humans, beast races, natural races, and demons, failed the demon heart challenge. Once they reappeared from the room, they were automatically sent out of the tower, especially since they had lost their qualifications to challenge the other tests.

Not long after them, half of Zhang Feiʼs group, including Yuan Luo and two women, successfully passed their demon heart challenge. They reappeared at the same time as the two royal families of the two demon kingdoms. However, half of them, such as Xian Xianwu, Xian Xianqin, Yun Qinghai, and Yun Xinyue, have yet to return.

”Wow! Youʼre ranked first, Zhang Fei!” Yuan Luo immediately shouted as soon as she saw the results on the board, but then she looked around for Xian Xianqin. ”It seems that our princess is still having trouble getting rid of her demon heart, and she will probably fail again this time.”

”No.” Zhang Fei immediately refuted Yuan Luo. ”Princes Xianqin will definitely succeed in passing her demon challenge.”

Yuan Luo immediately asked with a playful smile. ”Why do you still address her as a princess? Isnʼt your relationship more intimate now? Although she still doesnʼt want to admit it, we can see that she has fallen in love with you.”

”I—” Zhang Fei did not have time to answer Yan Luoʼs question when six other people suddenly appeared in front of them. He immediately smiled and said to Xian Xianqin, ”Congratulations; you finally passed your demon heart challenge, and we will undergo the other tests together.”

Xian Xianqin smiled sweetly and took Zhang Feiʼs hand. ”Thanks to you, I finally got through my demon heart.”

”You are wrong.” Zhang Fei answered with a shake of his head. ”You were able to pass it because you managed to let go of the regret in your heart, so you should be proud of yourself.”

Xian Xianqin nodded in response. ”Actually, I nearly failed again due to her relentless attacks, and I hesitated to counterattack. However, I remembered your words that we could still save her from their hands, so I steeled my heart and defeated her.”

”Get a room, you two.” They immediately turned to Bai Tianʼer, who looked annoyed. ”Why are you guys looking at me like that? I was annoyed because my demon heart was stronger than last time, but in the end, I got through it.”

”Thatʼs good.” Zhang Fei then turned to the other four. ”What about you guys?”

”Iʼm the same as Tianʼer.” Ximen Chuixue replied with a soft sigh. ”My demon heart is getting heavier and stronger, so Iʼm having a hard time getting through it.”

Xian Xianwu also told Zhang Fei. ”My demon heart has not only grown stronger, but it has also become easier than it was before. However, I had a hard time solving the puzzle that it gave me, and I spent a lot of time solving it.”

”A puzzle?”

Xian Xianwu shook his head at them. ”I donʼt want to talk about that anymore.”

”All our members managed to pass the demon heart challenge, so I think this is a good sign for us, and I hope we will succeed in passing all the remaining challenges.” All of them nodded to Ximen Chuixue, but then they looked at the numbers on the screen. There were only seventy participants left, indicating that more than a quarter had failed. ”The number of our enemies is still large, so we must remain vigilant against them.”

Suddenly, another portal descended from the roomʼs ceiling, but it was red, and Xian Xianqin immediately asked Zhang Fei via voice transmission. ʼAre you ready to take the test? The next test is the battle challenge, and we will be sent randomly before meeting our enemies.ʼ

ʼIʼm ready anytime.ʼ Zhang Fei then turned to the people who were so eager to kill him. ʼI hope Iʼll meet one of them so I can reduce the number of our enemies.ʼ

ʼWhich of them will be your toughest opponent?ʼ Xian Xianqin asked as she glanced at those people.

ʼZhou Tong is my toughest opponent, but I dare not underestimate Huangfu Lian and the others, especially since most of their cultivation has reached the seven divine realms.ʼ Zhang Fei then looked at the demons from the two demon kingdoms. ʼAs for those demons, Iʼm not too worried about them because my demon abilities are better than theirs, so Iʼm confident in defeating them.ʼ

Xian Xianqin was about to speak to Zhang Fei once more, but the red portal suddenly glowed, sucking them into it.
