Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Nina Scott and Miles Mercer left together. ”Thanks for your help back there,” Nina said.

Miles Mercer’s brow furrowed slightly. ”That guy was harassing you like that, and you didn’t call the police?”

’For some reason, seeing that guy just now made him feel a little unsettled.’

”It’s harassment to me, but the police might not see it that way. Calling them would be useless. Besides, my mom set him up with me.”

Nina Scott was completely speechless. ’What kind of family is this?’

’Yara Scott definitely had a hand in this. She had no idea what kind of poison Yara had been feeding their mother.’

”So that’s why you’re in such a hurry to marry yourself off?”

”What’s that supposed to mean? What, are you saying you want to marry me?” Nina Scott tilted her bright little face up and looked right at Miles Mercer.

The light was bright, making Nina’s expression look lively, though it was tinged with a trace of bitterness.

Miles Mercer’s breath hitched, and he turned away. ”You’re overthinking it. I would never marry a woman like you.”

”A woman like me? What kind of woman is that? Let me tell you, I’m quite a catch. Every guy I’ve been on a blind date with has had nothing but good things to say about me. Look at that guy from before. Didn’t he want to marry me? I was the one who wasn’t willing.”

’Even if she were to marry someone offhandedly, it had to be someone of her own choosing.’

Miles Mercer said, ”I really don’t get you.”

”What’s that? You want to get to know me? Oh, you’d better not. I’m afraid you’ll fall in love with me.”

”That’s absolutely impossible. Who’s the narcissist here?” Miles Mercer stared at the ridiculous woman.

”Even if I am, I can’t hold a candle to you!”

Miles Mercer scoffed, not even noticing that their hands were still clasped together.

Nina Scott said, ”You should head back. I’m not coming to dinner. Please tell Nina and your grandpa I’m sorry.”

”Grandpa gave a direct order. If you don’t go, I won’t be allowed in the house either.”

”Seriously?”

Nina Scott hadn’t planned on going, but then she saw Cameron Walker coming out. She pushed Miles, ”Go, go, go! Let’s get out of here, quick.”

When Cameron Walker came out, all he saw was the rear of a car driving away. He didn’t see who got in.

’That car... It’s a limited-edition luxury car. That couldn’t be Nina Scott’s ride, could it?’

’That boyfriend of hers is so poor, he probably can’t even afford a car.’

’If Nina Scott doesn’t get with him, she’ll definitely regret it!’

In the end, Nina Scott went with Miles Mercer to Ivy Sherwood’s house. The moment Old Master Mercer saw Nina, he was delighted.

Nina hadn’t accepted the card from yesterday, so today the old master had specially prepared a gift. It wasn’t overly expensive, which made it hard for Nina to refuse.

During dinner, the old master chatted with Nina Scott the entire time, looking extremely pleased with her.

”How long have you two been together?” Grandpa asked.

Miles Mercer said, ”Grandpa, we’re not together yet.”

The old master clutched his heart. ”Oh, my! Why does my heart suddenly hurt so much? The doctor said I can’t get worked up lately, or my body won’t be able to take it.”

After putting on a show, Old Master Mercer asked, ”Miles, what were you just saying?”

Miles Mercer: ”...”

”Grandpa, she and I are not what you think—”

The moment Miles Mercer started to speak, the old master began to twitch violently, startling Ivy Sherwood. ”Grandpa!”

Just then, Nina Scott spoke up. ”Grandpa, we’ve been together for two months.”

”Really? Then when are you planning to get married?”

Only then did Ivy Sherwood realize her grandfather had been faking it all along!

”It seems a little early to talk about marriage right now. We’re not in a rush, Grandpa.”

Grandpa said, ”Alright, alright. You young people can take your time dating. But once you have the idea, just let me know, and I’ll go to your family to propose the marriage~”

After dinner, the old master picked up his phone. Seeing this, Ivy Sherwood asked, ”Grandpa, what are you doing?”

The old master said, ”I’m calling my buddies.”

A moment later, the old master’s hearty laughter rang out. ”Old Tom, hahaha! Let me tell you, our Miles has a girlfriend! She’s so pretty, a real sweetheart. I’ll definitely bring her over for you to meet next time.”

”Old Man Lee, you’d better get that red envelope you mentioned ready soon. Our Miles is about to have some good news.”

Nearby, Nina Scott and Miles Mercer facepalmed in perfect sync. If Nina had known the old master was such a publicist, she never would have admitted it.

’She’d only said they’d been dating for two months because of how her grandpa was acting. Who knew he’d be this fast?’

”But I still have a blind date tomorrow. I need to marry myself off quickly. Ivy, what should I do?”

”No.” Miles Mercer said from the side.

”Why not?” Nina Scott looked at him. ”I can help you handle your grandpa, but I suggest you find a real girlfriend. When the time comes, we can just say we weren’t a good match and broke up. It won’t cause any problems.”

”Do you really think Grandpa is that easy to fool? For now, this is the only way. You’ll just have to be my girlfriend for a while.”

’At least, after interacting with Nina Scott, he found that he didn’t have the same aversion to this woman as he did to others.’

”Then what about my blind dates?”

Miles Mercer said, ”Just don’t go for now.”

Nina Scott rubbed the bridge of her nose as she heard Miles Mercer say, ”Think of it as us helping each other out. If you ever need me to play your boyfriend, you can call me anytime.”

”Alright, fine.” Nina Scott agreed for the time being.

’At least with a human shield, the Scott Family wouldn’t actually be able to force her to get married, right?’

「 ... 」

Nina Scott stayed at Ivy Sherwood’s house for a while longer to keep the old master company, and then he had Miles Mercer drive her home.

Ivy Sherwood thought her grandfather would stay up late again tonight, but to her surprise, he went back to his bedroom quite early.

Ivy Sherwood glanced at the time. It was only nine o’clock.

’Come to think of it, she hadn’t seen Quentin Blackwood in several days.’

She and Quentin were supposed to go out on the water today, but she had to stand him up because of her grandfather’s sudden arrival.

Ivy Sherwood felt a little bad about it and decided to sneak out and give Quentin Blackwood a surprise.

It wasn’t too far from her place to Norhaven, and Quentin was surely still awake.

Ivy Sherwood went downstairs. Just as she reached the door, she saw a familiar car, and leaning against the car door was a man.

Ivy Sherwood had been just about to head to Norhaven to find Quentin Blackwood, but to her surprise, he was right downstairs.

She ran over. ”Quentin!”

Hearing her voice, Quentin Blackwood looked up sharply and saw Ivy Sherwood running toward him.

”Slow down.” Quentin’s voice was the same as always.

He opened his arms, and Ivy Sherwood leaped right into them. He caught her securely, his arms strong and powerful.

”What are you doing here?” Under the streetlight, Ivy Sherwood’s eyes were sparkling.

”I missed you, so I came to see you.” Quentin Blackwood’s gaze was deep and intense, as if stained with ink.

”Then why didn’t you tell me? If I hadn’t come out, were you planning to just stand here all night?” Ivy Sherwood wrapped her arms around Quentin’s neck and her legs around his waist.

Quentin’s hands held her hips firmly. ”And you? Where were you going so late at night?”

”To find you!”

In that moment, Quentin Blackwood’s heart skipped a beat.
