Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

”Grandpa, are you all right? Please, calm down.” Ivy Sherwood didn’t know what had come over the old master to make him so agitated all of a sudden.

”Winter! That’s Winter’s!” the old master exclaimed, crying out Winter Mercer’s name.

Ivy Sherwood was confused. She looked at Miles Mercer. ”What does Grandpa mean?”

Miles Mercer was also in shock. ’That Jade Pendant... why does Ivy Sherwood have one too?’

’Didn’t Caleb Blackwood say that the Jade Pendant was on Sylvia Blackwood when he found her?’

They had indeed seen that piece of jade, but Ivy’s looked remarkably similar to it.

”Ivy Sherwood, where did you get your Jade Pendant?” A hint of urgency crept into Miles’s voice.

Ivy was a little dazed. ”The Jade Pendant from my bag? It was my mother’s, but I only just got it recently.”

”Can Grandpa and I see it?”

”Of course.” Ivy helped the old master sit down on the sofa before taking out the Jade Pendant.

Ivy placed the Jade Pendant in the old master’s hands and asked, puzzled, ”Grandpa, do you recognize this?”

Ivy only knew that the Jade Pendant belonged to her mother and could be exchanged for a great treasure.

”This is Winter’s... it belongs to Winter.” The old master’s hands trembled as he held the Jade Pendant, tears welling up in his eyes.

”What?” Ivy stared at the old master in disbelief, a jolt running through her as if she’d been struck by lightning.

’This is clearly my mother’s Jade Pendant. How could it belong to the Winter they keep mentioning?’

Miles asked, ”Ivy Sherwood, are you sure this belonged to your mother?”

Ivy nodded. ”I’m sure. I’d seen my mother with it since I was a child. But after she passed away, Caleb Blackwood secretly took it. I only just got it back recently.”

”What did you say? Caleb Blackwood?”

’It’s Caleb Blackwood again!’

”Caleb Blackwood has been lying to us!” Miles seethed with anger.

’No wonder Caleb Blackwood refused to give them the Jade Pendant or let them take Sylvia Blackwood to Elandra. It was all a lie.’

’With the Jade Pendant in Caleb Blackwood’s hands, they had no way to compare them, but Grandpa should be able to tell the difference.’

Ivy was also stunned. ’If this Jade Pendant really belongs to Winter Mercer, does that mean my mother...?’

”But we had a DNA test done last time. I’m not part of your family.”

”The test results could have been faked by Caleb Blackwood, if he’s been planning to deceive us from the very beginning!”

The old master’s face was already streaked with tears. He clutched the Jade Pendant tightly. ”This Jade Pendant is a Mercer family heirloom, passed down through generations. I gave it to Winter when she was born... I could never mistake it!”

Just then, Miles added, ”Ivy, your eyes are so, so much like Little Aunt’s. And this Jade Pendant... it really does belong to her.”

With so much evidence and so many coincidences, Ivy was astounded. ’Could I really be a member of the Mercer family?’

’Is my mother really Winter Mercer?’

”If that’s the case... there’s actually something else I’ve been hiding from you.”

”What is it?” Miles asked.

”Wait for me a moment. I’m going to the restroom.”

As she washed her face, Ivy’s hands were trembling. ’Are the Mercers really my family? Is my mother really Winter Mercer?’

’This feels like a dream. My face looks a lot like my mother’s. I don’t know what Winter Mercer looked like; I wonder if my real face resembles her at all.’

’If, after all this, I really turn out to be a Mercer, then fate has played a huge, huge joke on me.’

Ivy quickly washed her face. When she came out, her palms were sweaty. She was incredibly nervous.

However, the old man and the young man were so shocked when they saw Ivy that they couldn’t utter a single word.

”Winter!”

”Little Aunt!”

The old master shot up from his seat in excitement and ran toward Ivy, nearly stumbling and falling to the ground.

”Winter! It’s my Winter!” The old master couldn’t control himself any longer. He cradled Ivy’s face as tears streamed down his own.

After so many years, he had finally found his Winter!

”Grandpa...” The old master’s reaction said it all.

’My face looks just like my mother’s. My mother *is* Winter Mercer!’

”Ivy... what... what’s going on? You look exactly like Little Aunt! You’re Little Aunt’s daughter!” Miles was almost speechless.

”My mother and I look very much alike. She always disguised her appearance. When I was very young, she taught me how to use makeup to hide my real face and not be too conspicuous.”

Ivy had kept it hidden until now. Although a few people had seen her true face, the DNA test had come back negative. Since they weren’t family, Ivy hadn’t seen the point in mentioning it.

”Then what about Little Aunt? Where is she now?”

”She’s been gone for many years. Caleb Blackwood even used her ashes to threaten me before. To this day, I’ve only managed to get back half of her ashes. The other half is with Anna Nash.”

Miles fell silent. The Little Aunt they had been searching for for so many years was already gone.

Miles wasn’t very old when his Little Aunt left. In his memory, she was an incredibly capable and mysterious person. He never knew what she did when she was away.

He only knew that she had come home covered in wounds, then suddenly disappeared again. He never saw his Little Aunt after that.

It was only from the prenatal medication they found among her things after she came home that they learned she was pregnant.

As for who the father was, they had no idea.

The old master was sobbing uncontrollably. That was his beloved youngest daughter.

Family bonds are a strange thing sometimes. From the moment the old master first saw Ivy, he felt that she was his Winter.

After fate played such a cruel joke and led them on such a roundabout path, it turned out to be true...

Miles snapped back to his senses. ”I have to tell my older brothers about this right away. What if Caleb Blackwood manages to fool them again?”

”The last time we did the DNA test, Caleb Blackwood must have tampered with it. He must have bribed someone at the hospital. Then, when we went to get tested with Sylvia Blackwood later, he must have swapped her sample with your blood. That time we ran into Sylvia at the airport was probably part of his deliberate plan, too. That old fox!”

Miles understood everything now. ’How could Caleb Blackwood be so evil!’

Miles quickly told Xavier Mercer what had happened. At that moment, Xavier was already at the Mercer family villa.

After Xavier took the call, joy and gloom flickered across his face.

Ivy Sherwood was very likely their cousin, but Caleb Blackwood had dared to deceive them!

’Has Caleb Blackwood not looked into the Mercer Family? How dare he?’

Xavier marched straight into the Blackwood family home with his men. The Blackwood family’s staff couldn’t stop them at all.

The butler had met Xavier before. He asked, ”Mr. Mercer, what is the meaning of this?”

Xavier had brought a large group with him. Besides the experts who had come to conduct the DNA test, there were men carrying equipment and even several bodyguards. They clearly meant business.
