Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

At the hospital, Nina Scott was worried sick.

Fortunately, the doctor said it was nothing serious. ”She’s pregnant now. She shouldn’t overexert herself. She must get plenty of rest.”

”Okay, I’ll be sure to tell her... Wait! What did you say? She’s pregnant?” Nina Scott was shocked. ’Ivy’s actually pregnant!’

When Ivy Sherwood woke up, the first thing she smelled was the sharp scent of disinfectant.

Standing in front of her was Nina Scott, arms crossed. She looked terrified. ”Ivy, you’re finally awake!”

”I...” As Ivy Sherwood sat up in the hospital bed, Nina Scott steadied her, urging her to be careful.

”Slow down. Things are different for you now. Did you really need to push yourself so hard for work? You fainted, you know! The doctor told me you’re pregnant now. Ivy, you’re going to be a mom!”

Ivy Sherwood: ”...”

Nina Scott studied Ivy’s expression. ”What’s wrong? Are you too excited to even react?”

”I was shocked when I heard, too. Ivy, you’re so young to be a mom. You have to tell your Mr. Blackwood right away. He’ll be thrilled.”

”We agreed a long time ago, I’m supposed to be the godmother!”

”Ivy, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you saying anything? You aren’t really in shock, are you?”

”Nina, I’m fine. I... I’m sorry...”

”Huh? What happened? Why are you apologizing to me?” Nina Scott was completely baffled.

”You might not get to be the godmother. This baby... I don’t want it.”

”Why? Did you already know about this? Was it from your last check-up? You...”

Ivy Sherwood nodded. ”I found out last time. I originally wanted to tell Quentin first, and then you. But now I realize, men are trash. Only best friends are forever!”

”So, did you tell him? What did he say? That he doesn’t want the baby? And you... knowing you’re pregnant and still being so reckless. You have to take better care of yourself. Otherwise, if there are problems with the pregnancy, you’re the one who’s going to suffer.”

Ivy Sherwood looked at her, then suddenly reached out and hugged Nina Scott. She forced herself to speak in the calmest tone possible. ”We broke up. We won’t be in each other’s lives anymore.”

”Huh?” Nina Scott was stunned. ”How could this happen?”

”Did that man Quentin Blackwood hurt you? I’ll go get revenge for you. That bastard dares to hurt my best friend? Just watch me beat him to a pulp!” Nina Scott said, her voice full of agitation.

Ivy Sherwood held her back. ”Don’t go. He and I were never from the same world. I was just being delusional before.”

”Ivy! Does he know you’re pregnant?”

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. Nina Scott grew angry. ”Then what are you going to do? You’re not going to tell him?”

”We’ve already broken up. Why should I tell him? This baby has nothing to do with him. And I probably won’t keep it.”

”What about the breakup? Did he give you any compensation?” Nina Scott asked again.

Ivy Sherwood said, ”We weren’t married, so I don’t need any financial compensation. That would just make it seem like I was his kept woman. I won’t take his money. Let’s just say we were having fun. Besides, he’s so handsome, so it’s not like I lost out.”

Ivy was making excuses to appear strong, but only she knew how much her heart truly ached.

But what could she do? She couldn’t just fall apart and act like her life was over.

’There’s still tomorrow, and a future, isn’t there?’

”If there were no baby, it would be one thing. But you’re pregnant. Do you have any idea how painful an abortion is, how much damage it does to a woman’s body?” Nina Scott said, her heart aching for Ivy.

’I thought Quentin Blackwood was a good guy, but I guess I was completely wrong. That bastard is even worse than my brother!’

’If I’d known, I never would have supported Quentin. I should have supported my brother instead!’

”If you need to cry, just let it out. I’m here,” she said, patting Ivy’s back.

”I don’t want to cry. I’m okay, Nina. Don’t worry about me. I’m not the type to do something stupid.”

Ivy Sherwood’s eyes only reddened. She had already cried all the tears she had.

’I won’t shed another tear for Quentin Blackwood. I’ll turn this pain into the motivation to keep going. I’ll make a better life for myself!’

’I don’t believe Mom was a murderer. I have to find out the truth and make Quentin Blackwood see that my mother was not a killer.’

Nina Scott made Ivy go home and rest. She stayed by Ivy’s side, just watching her sleep.

Ivy wasn’t allowed to work; she had no choice but to obey.

Even though she hadn’t rested much in the past two days, Ivy still had trouble sleeping.

’Tomorrow, I still want to find Caleb Blackwood and ask about my mother and Quentin’s mother. I have a feeling he knows a lot.’

’And then, I need to get the rest of Mom’s ashes back from Anna Nash.’

...

For the past two days, Quentin Blackwood had barely slept. Old Master Sheridan had been buried. Many people attended the funeral, a testament to the vast network Old Master Sheridan had built in his lifetime.

Ethan Forrest came as well. He walked up to Quentin Blackwood. ”I’ve been hearing rumors that you’re going to marry Joy Sheridan. Quentin, what’s really going on? What about Ivy?”

Quentin Blackwood’s pupils darkened. Ethan Forrest really knew how to touch a sore spot.

Nearby, Joy Sheridan was dressed in understated elegance. She walked to Quentin Blackwood’s side. ”Quentin, you should probably tell them about us. Quentin and Ivy Sherwood have already broken up, and he has already agreed to marry me.”

Ethan Forrest was astonished. ”Quentin, is this true?”

’How is this possible? There’s no way Quentin likes Joy Sheridan. If he was going to marry her, he would have done it ages ago.’

’What kind of tricks did Joy Sheridan pull to force Quentin to agree to marry her?’

Quentin Blackwood said nothing, so Ethan Forrest didn’t press the issue.

Ethan Forrest had always thought of Quentin Blackwood as a wild beast, but right now, it was clear that the madness inside him was being suppressed.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he looked like he was on the verge of snapping.

He asked Zane Linton and found out that Quentin Blackwood hadn’t slept in days. So that night, Ethan Forrest dragged Quentin to a bar.

He ordered a ton of alcohol and called over Zion Landon and the others to keep Quentin company.

But the atmosphere was incredibly oppressive. No one spoke. The air itself seemed suffocating.

Quentin Blackwood sat in the middle, his gaze fixed straight ahead. No one could guess what he was thinking.

It was Ethan Forrest who finally picked up a glass. ”Tonight is a night for the boys. We’re not talking or thinking about anything. We’re just drinking!”

Just then, Quentin Blackwood’s phone buzzed. He picked it up and glanced at it. It was a message from his people in Lustre.

The message said that Ivy Sherwood had collapsed from exhaustion after working for several days straight and was taken to the hospital by Nina Scott. She was apparently fine now and had already been discharged.

There was also a photo they had taken, showing only a blurry image of her back.

’Her silhouette looks so frail. The weather has been so cold lately; why isn’t she wearing more?’

Beside him, Ethan Forrest and the others had no idea what Quentin was looking at, but it felt like he was about to burn a hole through his phone with his stare.
