Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Elijah Hawthorne, that madman, was also Quentin Blackwood’s mortal enemy and loved nothing more than to stir up trouble.

Since she couldn’t deal with Ivy Sherwood in Aethelgard herself, she naturally needed someone else to do it. Elijah Hawthorne already enjoyed targeting Quentin Blackwood and snatching things from his grasp, making him an undoubtedly useful tool.

Her connection with Elijah Hawthorne wasn’t deep, but she could make a deal with him.

Sooner or later, the company would be in her hands. The Sheridan Group was a massive enterprise, ranked among the top in the country. Although it couldn’t compare to DG or the Hawthorne Family, it was on par with Rhodes Enterprises.

The Hawthorne Family was currently being suppressed by DG, which was the most powerful company in the country. Of course, Elijah Hawthorne was unwilling to accept the status quo; he had always wanted to surpass Quentin Blackwood.

If he had the Sheridan Group’s support, it would undoubtedly be an excellent opportunity for Elijah Hawthorne.

Elijah Hawthorne had extended an olive branch to Old Master Sheridan several times over the years, but Old Master Sheridan had never accepted.

But now Joy Sheridan had approached Elijah Hawthorne. If he helped her, the Sheridan Family would be his to command.

Joy Sheridan was in love with Quentin Blackwood, yet she was willing to help his mortal enemy just to have him. Elijah Hawthorne found it nothing but amusing.

To show her sincerity, Joy Sheridan had already secretly started collaborating with Elijah Hawthorne. Elijah, for his part, was curious about what in Lustre could possibly keep Quentin Blackwood there, so he didn’t mind taking a look for himself.

’And then there’s that woman, Ivy Sherwood. What does she even look like, to be able to bewitch Quentin Blackwood?’

But after seeing her, his first thought was, ’Has Quentin Blackwood gone blind?’

’In terms of looks, this Ivy Sherwood has none. She’s so plain you couldn’t pick her out of a crowd, and she can’t even begin to compare to Joy Sheridan.’

’Does Quentin Blackwood’s taste really run that strange? Rejecting a perfectly beautiful woman for an ugly one?’

’And as for family background, that Ivy Sherwood is also completely average. I wouldn’t even give a company like the Sherwood Family a second glance.’

So, after thinking it over and over, Elijah Hawthorne could only come to one conclusion that made any sense: Quentin Blackwood was a pervert!

He snatched his nephew’s fiancée and took her to his own bed just to satisfy his twisted desire for revenge against Silas Blackwood and his family.

He didn’t think Quentin Blackwood could be investing much effort in this Ivy Sherwood. It was surely just a fling, a game. Maybe this Ivy Sherwood was good in bed, but he’d get tired of a woman like that sooner or later.

He even thought Joy Sheridan’s worries were unnecessary. After all, with Joy’s looks and status, very few women could compare to her.

”You’d better make your move soon!”

Joy Sheridan was still uneasy. As long as Ivy Sherwood was around, she couldn’t rest.

’I have to eliminate every woman who dares to covet Quentin Blackwood.’

At that moment, Elijah Hawthorne was in a spacious private room, his legs crossed. He swirled a glass in his hand, slowly savoring the wine.

Several men in black stood around him. The way he sat there, he exuded the aura of a mafia boss.

Elijah Hawthorne glanced at the message from Joy Sheridan and simply turned his phone off.

’It’s just a transaction. Joy Sheridan is in no position to be giving me orders.’

Elijah Hawthorne pressed the glass to his lips, tilted his head back, and drained the wine in one go.

”Where is Ivy Sherwood right now?”

As soon as he spoke, one of the men in black suits next to him quickly stepped forward and told Elijah Hawthorne where Ivy Sherwood had eaten lunch that afternoon.

A smile touched the corners of Elijah Hawthorne’s lips. ’So she has friends. Well then, I’ll just have to invite them over to play, too.’

...

Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott parted ways after their meal, each heading to their own home.

Ivy Sherwood sat on the sofa, wondering how Quentin Blackwood was doing. ’He should have reached Aethelgard by now, right?’

She picked up her phone, but there were no messages from Quentin Blackwood.

She sent a message to Quentin Blackwood: ”Remember to eat dinner!”

Worried that Quentin Blackwood might be too busy to remember, Ivy Sherwood sent a little reminder.

Besides reminding Quentin Blackwood, Ivy Sherwood also sent a message to Zane Linton, telling him to look after Quentin. No matter how busy he got, his three meals a day and his rest had to be guaranteed!

Then Ivy Sherwood went to her study to work for a while. It was ten o’clock at night when her phone rang.

Ivy Sherwood saw it was an unknown number. After a moment’s thought, she answered it.

”Hello,” Ivy Sherwood said politely.

But a sneer came from the other end of the line. ”Miss Sherwood, so very polite.”

That voice, that way of speaking... a certain person suddenly came to Ivy Sherwood’s mind.

”Elijah Hawthorne?”

’It can’t be, can it?’

’I don’t even know the man. We only met for a few minutes last time and barely exchanged a few words.’

But for some reason, Ivy Sherwood had a gut feeling that it was Elijah Hawthorne.

”Miss Sherwood, you’re so clever. You already know it’s me,” Elijah Hawthorne’s distinctive voice came through the phone.

When he laughed, his voice was low, but the laugh itself gave off an inexplicably crazed feeling.

”Is there something you need, Mr. Hawthorne?” Ivy Sherwood instinctively grew wary.

’I know this man is bad news, and I never intended to cross him.’

’He’s Quentin Blackwood’s mortal enemy, so he’ll inevitably come looking for trouble. No matter what he says or does, I won’t pay him any mind.’

”Of course. The weather is so nice today, don’t you want to come out and play, Miss Sherwood?”

”I’m sorry, Mr. Hawthorne, but it’s time for me to rest. You should get some rest soon, too.”

”Miss Sherwood, your schedule is so disciplined,” the voice on the other end said, still tinged with amusement.

”Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Hawthorne. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now.” With that, Ivy Sherwood prepared to end the call.

But just before she did, Elijah Hawthorne’s voice came through again. ”Since Miss Sherwood doesn’t want to come out and play, I guess I’ll just have to play with your dear little friend alone.”

Hearing this, Ivy Sherwood froze, her hand hovering over the phone.

”What do you mean?”

’What dear little friend?’

”Isn’t Nina Scott your friend? I thought she was Miss Sherwood’s friend. If she’s not, then I guess I can play however I want.”

Ivy Sherwood’s scalp suddenly tightened. She now understood why Julian Grant had said this man was a madman.

Ivy Sherwood was frantic, but right now, she didn’t know if Elijah Hawthorne’s words were true or false. What if he was just bluffing?

’These powerful bosses are all sinister schemers who love setting traps for people.’

”You say my friend is with you. Do you have any proof?” Ivy Sherwood forced herself to stay calm.

”Proof... Hey, beautiful. Cry out a couple of times for your friend to hear.”

Nina Scott bit her lip, glaring fiercely at Elijah Hawthorne as if to say, ’In your dreams!’

’This man definitely has ill intentions for inviting Ivy over. I won’t let her come!’

”Looks like your friend doesn’t like to talk. How about I inject her with something? Or maybe break one of her arms? Do you think she’ll speak then?”

Ivy Sherwood didn’t dare to gamble anymore. This madman was capable of anything.

”Don’t you touch her. Tell me the address. I’m coming over now.”

”That’s a good girl. The address has already been sent to your phone.”

Ivy Sherwood hung up and saw the address. Still not reassured, she immediately called Nina Scott’s phone.

The call connected quickly. ”Nina, are you okay? Where are you?”

It was the same voice from before on the line. ”Didn’t I already send the location to your phone? Did you not receive it, Miss Sherwood, or are you doubting me?”

Hearing Elijah Hawthorne’s voice, Ivy Sherwood’s heart sank. Nina Scott really was in his hands.

’What on earth does Elijah Hawthorne want?!’
