Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

After Ivy Sherwood spoke, Silas Blackwood’s expression darkened further, and he glared at Mrs. Blackwood.

Mrs. Blackwood was momentarily speechless. ’Was my voice too loud? Surely not...’

”If you didn’t do it, then tell us who did,” Mrs. Blackwood demanded.

Ivy Sherwood said, ”How would I know? You should be asking your son who he offended so badly that they’d hold this kind of grudge against him.”

”Who else could it be but you? You’re the one who resents my son!” Mrs. Blackwood insisted, convinced of Ivy’s guilt. But with no recourse beyond shouting, she could only turn to Caleb Blackwood. ”Husband, are you just going to stand by and watch as this woman walks all over our son?”

”You should ask Silas if he crossed someone he shouldn’t have, and now they’re getting their revenge. I’ll say it one more time—this has nothing to do with me!”

Caleb Blackwood’s gaze was murky and grim—genuinely terrifying. ”Ivy Sherwood, were you responsible for what happened to Silas?”

His tone was just as intimidating. ”If you tell the truth and admit you did it, I can go easy on you. But if you lie and deny it, the Blackwood Family will never let you go. We have countless ways to make your life a living hell!”

Caleb Blackwood’s words were dripping with menace. He usually appeared amiable, but that was just a facade. Once he turned ruthless, his expression was utterly terrifying.

Anyone less courageous would have been cowed by Caleb Blackwood’s demeanor.

’No matter what Caleb Blackwood says, this has nothing to do with me.’

Just as Ivy Sherwood was about to speak, a voice cut in from outside.

”Older Brother, pinning the blame on a young woman like this is hardly appropriate, don’t you think?”

A familiar voice, followed by a familiar figure.

She had just seen him last night, yet seeing him again now, Ivy Sherwood felt as if a lifetime had passed. Her heart gave a violent lurch.

’Quentin Blackwood was here too. This is a Blackwood family affair, and the injured party is his nephew. It’s only right for him to be here.’

Ivy Sherwood watched Quentin Blackwood, but his eyes didn’t land on her. Instead, they were fixed on Caleb Blackwood.

The two brothers locked eyes. Quentin showed not a hint of fear; in fact, the power emanating from his gaze was even more intense.

”What is this ’admitting it is telling the truth, and denying it is a lie’? Even the police don’t use such strong-arm tactics to coerce a confession.”

’Quentin’s words were clearly a defense of her.’

A storm of complex emotions churned within Ivy. ’He’s still so good to me. He said we were cutting ties, but he still stepped forward to defend me.’

Quentin moved smoothly between Ivy Sherwood and Caleb Blackwood, shielding her behind him and blocking Caleb’s direct line of sight.

Ivy looked at Quentin’s tall frame. His mere presence changed the atmosphere in the room.

She didn’t know why, but with Quentin’s arrival, an overwhelming sense of security washed over her.

It was as if she was suddenly afraid of nothing.

Suddenly, Quentin glanced back at Ivy, and their eyes met.

His eyes were as cold and sharp as ever, completely devoid of warmth. He looked at her as if she were a stranger.

’There were so many things she wanted to say, yet she didn’t know what to say at all.’

Opening her mouth, Ivy managed only a single sentence: ”Uncle, why are you here?”

’She still called him Uncle. She couldn’t break the habit.’

Quentin’s voice was chillingly cold. ”To see if my nephew is dead yet.”

”Uncle, are you that eager for me to die? Does that mean you’re the one who did this?” Silas, his eyes bloodshot, glared at Ivy and Quentin.

’What did it mean, the two of them standing here together? Ivy still calls him Uncle... Does she call him that in bed, too?’

The thought of those two together, entangled, made Silas feel the sting of being cuckolded so intensely he might as well have been glowing green.

’If Ivy didn’t do it, then it must have been Quentin!’

Quentin said, ”If I were the one to make a move, you’d be in a coffin by now.”

Quentin was in a foul mood, and every word he spoke was laced with barbs.

His tongue was so venomous you wanted to kill him, but you’d never have the power to do it.

”If it wasn’t you two, then who else could it be? You two adul—”

Before he could get the word out, Silas felt an intense gaze land on him, sharp as a knife, and he didn’t dare finish his sentence.

His tone weakened. ”It had to be you two.”

Quentin sneered. ”You’re hopelessly stupid. It’s a miracle my older brother hasn’t been angered to death by you yet.”

The Blackwoods were speechless.

What was wrong with Quentin today? He was like a porcupine, his quills flying at everyone and aiming straight for the heart.

Ivy added, ”Instead of making wild guesses, you should think hard about who you might have offended. Who benefits most from you being in this state?”

’Who benefits most?’

Silas racked his brain, but his thoughts kept returning to Ivy. ’She latched onto Quentin and didn’t want to marry me anymore, so she came up with this vicious plan.’

”Then who else could it be if not you!” he snarled, glaring viciously at Ivy.

A mocking smile touched Ivy’s lips. ”Being this stupid, you deserve to be conspired against. However, I think I have a pretty good idea who it was.”

”Who was it?” Silas demanded.

Everyone but Quentin turned to look at Ivy in unison.

Ivy said, ”There’s no need for you to look. I’m sure she’ll show up on her own soon enough.”

Silas was seething with frustration. If he really could never again enjoy *that* kind of pleasure for the rest of his life, he would go mad.

Besides, he had a reputation for playing the field. If people found out he couldn’t perform anymore, his name as Young Master Blackwood would become a laughingstock.

Silas clenched his fists. No matter who was behind this, once he found them, he would make them pay.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Caleb Blackwood received a phone call.

No one else knew what was said on the other end of the line, but Caleb Blackwood’s expression turned even darker.

”Bring her here!”

After the call, Caleb Blackwood knew who had done it.

The call had been from one of his men.

Ever since the scandal from that livestream erupted, the Blackwood family’s reputation had plummeted, and it was all because of Anna Nash.

Anna Nash had vanished after that, and Caleb Blackwood’s men had been hunting for her ever since.

But Anna Nash had hidden herself so well it was as if she’d vanished from the face of the earth; his men had never been able to find her.

Just moments ago, his men had reported finding a trace of Anna Nash.

’She had been in hiding all this time, only to surface at such a convenient moment. This incident was undoubtedly connected to Anna Nash.’

Caleb Blackwood was no fool; he understood instantly. Anna Nash was pregnant with a Blackwood child. Now that Silas’s... equipment... was out of commission, the child in Anna’s womb might be the only heir for their branch of the Blackwood family.

That was why she dared to come out into the open now. It was self-evident who was responsible for this.

Caleb Blackwood’s eyes narrowed. ’What a vicious woman. I underestimated her.’

’If only I had dealt with her permanently the first time we caught her, I wouldn’t have all these problems now.’

Caleb Blackwood knew that for her to appear now meant she felt she had the upper hand and nothing to fear.

And he, for the time being, truly couldn’t touch her.
