Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!

Just as Claire Sinclair lowered her eyes to let the makeup artist apply medicine for her, she suddenly heard a surprised shout from outside the door.

“Mr. Prescott, how come you’re here?!”

Claire Sinclair was stunned, her hand trembled violently for a moment. For some reason, whenever she heard “Prescott” or similar sounds, the first thing that popped into her mind was always the name Zion Prescott.

This man was the eternal nightmare and knot in her heart.

Although their last meeting was a month ago.

At that time, outside The Blue Abyss Rose Bar, Zion Prescott promised her that he would never come looking for her again, would no longer interfere with her life, and even tacitly allowed her to continue her relationship with Jude Grant.

Claire Sinclair was not ungrateful.

Yet, in her heart, Zion Prescott had already cast a deep shadow, like a cloud in the sky that you might want to ignore at times, but once the storm pours down, it remains that indelible scar on your heart.

Back then, right after Zion Prescott made the promise, Claire Sinclair anxiously awaited for over a week, and unexpectedly, everything remained calm with no waves, as if Zion Prescott’s role had suddenly vanished from her life.

No longer threatening her to break up with Jude Grant.

Cleanly exited her stage.

…

Initially, Claire Sinclair was unaccustomed, but now she vaguely felt that perhaps Zion Prescott had truly decided to let her go.

Now when hearing the words “Mr. Prescott” outside the dressing room, Claire Sinclair, like someone who has once been bitten by a snake and fears the rope for ten years, turned her head with intense psychological shadows.

However, when she turned, she did not see Zion Prescott.

Instead, she saw the assistant director enthusiastically speaking with a person named Howard Prescott, who was also one of the advertisers for “There are branches on the mountain” — a small sponsor for the drama.

Upon seeing the face of that middle-aged man, Claire Sinclair immediately calmed down.

It turned out she misunderstood…

Claire Sinclair let out a breath of air, feeling an inexplicable sense of lingering sadness that she couldn’t quite let go.

Sometimes, when you’re obsessed with someone too deeply, even mixed with hatred, it is hard to tell if it’s the hatred outweighing, or if that complex sorrow felt when the person decides to withdraw is more intense.

…

Claire Sinclair feared Zion Prescott would become involved in her future, but also dreaded other unknowns.

Just as Claire Sinclair was lost in her thoughts, suddenly, a somewhat sycophantic voice fell into her ear.

“Miss Sinclair, the fire earlier, you didn’t injure your face, did you? Such a delicate face, what would we do if it were ruined?”

Claire Sinclair frowned and turned her head to see the oily face of Howard Prescott, that middle-aged boss.

During a previous visit to the set, Claire Sinclair had met this Boss Prescott. He seemed quite fond of her, immediately offering a limited-edition Tiffany necklace.

Holding onto the principle of not accepting rewards without merit, Claire Sinclair naturally refused.

Moreover, she vaguely understood that the entertainment industry wasn’t easy to navigate — behind the seemingly glamorous surface lay many young lives engulfed in spirit and flesh.

To achieve fame, many chose to abandon their dignity.

But Claire Sinclair was not willing to do that.

Because she had already experienced such pain once with Zion Prescott.

…

You can’t hit a smiling face; although Claire Sinclair despised this greasy boss, he was also one of the biggest advertisers for the movie, and the future citywide LED screen promotions would likely depend on his company’s management and allocation.

“Boss Prescott, as you saw, I merely scratched my forehead lightly. During the explosion of that fire accident, the place where I was situated was considered the farthest.”

Therefore, Claire Sinclair was fortunate to have survived, along with this face which was most important in the entertainment industry.

Looking at Claire Sinclair neither humble nor arrogant, with nothing of interest to him, Boss Prescott couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

However, Claire Sinclair’s striking features very much catered to his aesthetic taste, and Boss Prescott reluctantly swallowed, then suddenly reached out in surprise, attempting to touch Claire Sinclair’s forehead.

“Miss Sinclair, luckily you’re unharmed. I saw others ahead injured with severed arms and legs. For a beautiful face like yours, even thinking about such possibilities makes me ache for you.”

“…”

Claire Sinclair sat on the makeup chair, with hardly enough space to dodge, but seeing that greasy hand about to land, she unexpectedly stood up, startling the makeup artist behind her to step back two paces.

“Lina, sorry, I didn’t inform you beforehand.”

Claire Sinclair apologized to the makeup artist, Lina, with a smile, then looked at Boss Howard Prescott with a detached gaze.

“Boss Prescott, while it’s fortunate nothing major happened to me, I hope you could be cautious with your words. After all, those injured extras and staff members deserve more sympathy and pity than I do.”

“If Boss Prescott has any extra compassion, I hope it focuses on the injured.”

In fact, the production team had already begun preparations for a charity fundraiser.

Though Director Chapman was known for being meticulous, including bringing in an insurance company to distribute risk in advance for this explosion scene, the money was only enough for preliminary treatment of the injured.

If their lives suffer significant issues afterward, especially the two innocent extras who tragically died, their families might be severely impacted, and Director Chapman felt guilty, initiating donations and contributions himself.

These compensations were beyond those offered by the insurance company.

Basically, the insurance company offered a settlement price of 1.3 million per life to the bereaved families; that sum was neither too much nor too little. However, Director Chapman felt guilty, deciding to add more, while other public employees could choose to donate voluntarily.

…

As a newbie, Claire Sinclair didn’t have much money either; her first paycheck was still held at the production team, apart from roughly 60,000 emergency funds she accumulated through cheap advertisement endorsement fees.

Even though Jude Grant, her boyfriend, had money, Claire Sinclair didn’t want him to spend on her. Except for clothes that she would wear out, most other gifts remained untouched.

Even so, Claire Sinclair offered 30,000 for the fundraising to those injured, a token of goodwill. She knew all too well how painful desperation felt; while money can’t solve all problems, it can at least make tangible living a bit more bearable.

…

“Oh, who would have guessed Miss Claire has such a heart?”

Boss Howard Prescott chuckled slyly, intentionally leaning closer to Claire Sinclair; the two were standing quite close.

Claire Sinclair detested this proximity and was about to step back.

Yet Howard Prescott aggressively grabbed her, and from the entrance angle into the makeup room, their figures overlapped, almost appearing as if they were kissing.

This scene happened to be witnessed by Zion Prescott, who had just arrived at the film set.

From beneath the man’s gold-rimmed glasses, his eyes suddenly turned dark as water…
