Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1480: Chapter 1464: Survival of the Fittest

“Really? That’s great. But I heard that the Song Gambling King originally intended to come out and participate in the WGC himself. Now, with this situation, it seems he’s willing but unable. What a pity, I wanted to witness He Lao’s gambling style from back in the day.”

Knowing that the Gambling King couldn’t participate, Mr. Brown smiled oddly, a glint of smugness flashing in his eyes. “Oh, I’ve forgotten to introduce you. This gentleman next to me is Donald Savage. I believe Miss Song is not unfamiliar with his surname?”

“Donald?” Song Chaoying froze, murmuring a question in response.

Savage glanced at Song Chaoying with disdain, lifting his chin arrogantly. “My father is the Gambling King Donald Dudley.”

Song Chaoying’s face changed suddenly. The name of the Eastern Gambling King, Donald Dudley, was even more renowned than the Gambling King Song Lifeng. The most famous building in the Gambling City, the Taj Mahal, belonged to him.

Seeing Song Chaoying’s change of expression with satisfaction, Bronwich’s gaze swept over Huo Sining, then looked at Song Xiaochen with a half-smile, asking:

“Since Mr. Song can’t participate in the competition, I wonder who the Song Group has send to take on this crucial task? Surely they’re not planning to withdraw, right?”

Bronwich did not spare Huo Sining a glance, although he had heard rumors beforehand that the Song Family would send an unknown woman to participate, he didn’t take the news seriously, even sneering at it.

Because in his view, for such an important competition, the Song Group would definitely not treat it as child’s play, nor would they place the rise and fall of the Song Group and Macau Casino in the hands of a young woman.

Now, seeing the Song Siblings attending alone, he naturally assumed that this competition would be handled by Song Xiaochen, thus not putting his attention on Huo Sining.

The Song Siblings had mingled in the casino world for many years; how could they not know what was on Bronwich’s mind?

Since Bronwich thought this way, Song Xiaochen simply decided to keep the suspense going, letting the misunderstanding continue:

“Mr. Brown, there’s no need to worry. Even if the Song Group loses, we’ll lose with dignity. In the Song Group’s dictionary, there’s no such word as ‘give up!’”

Song Xiaochen spoke with certainty, with a bit of a ‘do or die’ spirit, as if he really decided to go to war. Naturally, Bronwich believed him, further confirming his guess.

It seemed that with the fall of the Gambling King Song Lifeng, the Song Family was truly out of people, so much so that they let such an inexperienced kid participate in the competition. It looked like his odds of winning increased once again.

“If that’s the case, then let me wish Mr. Song and Miss Song a victorious start, see you on the field!”

Bronwich’s words were loud, but the tone sounded like he was ridiculing Song Xiaochen for overestimating himself.

Indeed, it was ridicule. Facing the powerful matches from past WGC crocodiles and the son of the Eastern Gambling King, Donald Savage, along with Windsor head from Caesar’s Palace personally participating, this WGC was different than before.

Though Song Xiaochen was the son of the Gambling King He Hong, his gambling skills were far inferior to Song Lifeng’s. If Song Xiaochen actually replaced the Gambling King in the competition, trying to break through and win the title of crocodile in this WGC would be nothing short of wishful thinking.

Only, Bronwich never anticipated that the Song Group’s last card was not Song Lifeng, but an obscure woman.

And precisely due to Bronwich’s oversight, he would regret it after the match.

At ten in the morning, the WGC officially began.

Unlike the competitive events in the country, the WGC’s ceremony procedures were very brief, almost as if they saw through the gamblers’ impatience; only an emcee was responsible for hosting.

It took less than three minutes before the WGC Entertainment Center’s head announced the start of the competition, and crowds of gamblers surged in with their competition number cards.

The whole venue became chaotic, seemingly disorganized, yet maintained an orderliness.

Huo Sining followed the crowd into the competition area, where the WGC was set on the top two floors of the JK Entertainment Center.

This was a massive venue that could set up a thousand gambling tables and accommodate thousands of participants.

Most importantly, this venue employed the latest surveillance technology, with duplex cameras that were clear and distinguishable, enabling a 360-degree, no-dead-angle monitoring of the competition.

Under such tight surveillance, no one dared to cheat and play tricks easily, allowing the entire competition venue to remain under the organizer’s control.

The Las Vegas Times and Las Vegas Local Radio paid great emphasis and attention to this WGC, investigating and reporting on many popular participants who registered for competition even before the event commenced.

Before the competition began, the newspaper and radio station’s senior management had already decided, deploying a lot of manpower and equipment to the JK Entertainment Center, striving to achieve comprehensive coverage and broadcast of this WGC.

This was a grand occasion that attracted people worldwide to participate and spectate. Every aspiring crocodile hoped to showcase their skills at the WGC and seize the title of the crocodile.

Moreover, this year’s WGC, to promote the gambling industry, had also utilized various media channels, such as televisions and newspapers, for publicity and boasted a prize of ten million dollars.

For gamblers, the title of the crocodile might not be appealing, but with tens of millions of US dollars beckoning, there weren’t many who could resist such a significant allure.

Therefore, the contestants this year increased several folds compared to the previous ones. Initially intended for five thousand participants, there were surprisingly over forty thousand by the registration deadline.

However, how many could truly stand out at the WGC?

WGC was no child’s playhouse game; the real crocodile contest had only fifty slots for qualification, having to break through among over thirty thousand, implicitly displaying how fierce the competition was.

So, most participants ended up just paying an expensive entry fee, came happily for the competition, and finally went home dejected.

The WGC spans a month from preliminaries to semifinals to the finals, requiring seven days merely for preliminary selections.

During these seven days, everyone who registered for the competition needed to go through rounds of selections.

From ordinary cards to ******** to dice throwing, one gameplay after another is endless, with only four thousand remaining to enter the semifinals.

On the first day in the morning, after two rounds of screening, forty thousand people were already halved.

The eliminated left dejectedly, while the rest remained calm, relieved, or pleasantly surprised. Human complexities and worldly facets could all be seen in the casino.

After the first day of competition ended, Huo Sining easily secured qualification for the second day and walked out of the venue composedly.

Seeing Huo Sining come out, Song Chaoying and her brother hurried up anxiously: “How is it?”

Huo Sining showed the ranking number in her hand to Song Chaoying, which was a five-digit number – ranking over ten thousand among twenty thousand people. Song Chaoying couldn’t help but frown, “Miss Huo, is this competition difficult?”
