Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1456: Chapter 1440: A True Gentleman

Despite criticizing the incorrect attitude of Huaxia Country collectors towards antiques, Adrian had a good impression of Huo Sining. He looked seriously at Huo Sining and said:

”Miss Huo, I do not mean to discriminate against Huaxia people. I just hope that these civilizational treasures can be properly placed and treated seriously.”

The old gentleman’s eyes were somewhat apprehensive, as if he was afraid that Huo Sining would misunderstand him because of it.

Huo Sining felt a surge of shame and awkwardness, after all, before she came to this castle, she always had the idea of stealing these cultural relics back. Compared to the Earl in front of her, her thoughts seemed rather narrow-minded.

”No, no, no, Mr. Adrian, I did not mean to blame you. In fact, I also hate some systems within Huaxia that have caused many serious issues during the preservation of relics, such as being swapped, damaged, or lost. These occurrences are countless, so your concerns are valid.”

”Mr. Earl, you are truly a gentleman!”

At this point, Huo Sining spoke with a solemn and serious tone, because this was her genuine opinion from the heart. Although she had been in this castle for only a few hours, Mr. Earl’s demeanor and manners revealed elegance and excellent upbringing, which made it impossible for Huo Sining to harbor dislike or prejudice against such a person.

The old Earl was naturally pleased with Huo Sining’s compliment, especially coming from such a young and beautiful Oriental woman. So, to express his emotions, he spoke up:

”For a lady to speak first makes me, as the host, seem too impolite. Now let me show you my collection, Miss Huo, please follow me.”

Upon hearing these words, Huo Sining’s eyes instantly brightened, and a look of surprise appeared on her small face.

She thought that after saying this much, the English Earl would no longer let her see those collections. But surprisingly, this Mr. Earl did not play by the rules and did everything according to his mood.

Is this indeed the privilege of wealth?

Just as Adrian said he would take Huo Sining and Li Jun to see the collection, the old butler had already brought over a bunch of keys. The old Earl led the way into a spacious study at the back of the castle. The walls of the study were lined with bookshelves reaching the ceiling, filled with books, looking extraordinarily magnificent.

However, after leading them into the study, the old butler signaled to the two servants behind them. The two servants walked to a bookshelf on one side of the wall, each standing on one side, pulling with force.

Under external force, a complete bookshelf quickly split into two parts, moving directly along the pulleys to both sides. Soon, in the space vacated by the bookshelf, a large door about two meters wide was revealed.

Adrian took out a key and opened the door, revealing a staircase leading to a basement.

Following the wooden staircase, Huo Sining and Li Jun walked behind Adrian towards the basement.

Although it was a passage leading underground, the walls were still meticulously decorated. The luxurious and splendid appearance did not seem vulgar. Many murals were embedded in the walls, mostly European oil paintings.

Huo Sining didn’t understand much about Western antiques, but when she was going down the stairs, worried about falling, she instinctively pressed her hand against the wall. Unexpectedly, she discovered a big problem upon touching it.

The oil paintings hanging on these walls were all imbued with rich purple spiritual energy. Obviously, these decorative murals were authentic and extremely valuable!

Huo Sining couldn’t help but marvel at this. The old Earl truly was extravagant.

Entering the basement and passing through a not-too-long corridor, they came to a solid wood door.

Adrian took out a key and opened this door. As soon as the solid wood door opened, standing outside, Huo Sining immediately noticed a difference.

Previously, the heating was always on in the outer room, but the temperature behind this door was much lower than in other rooms. There was also a very dry feeling, and even standing outside the door, Huo Sining felt as if she had suddenly transitioned from summer to winter.

Adrian did not immediately lead Huo Sining in but turned to the old butler on one side and said:

”Andre, please disable the security system, thank you.”

The old butler nodded, walked to an electronic display panel at the door, and performed unknown operations. They could only see the old butler pressing various buttons on the electronic screen, which lasted for a full half-minute, before nodding to Adrian, indicating there was no problem.

Seeing Huo Sining’s confusion, Adrian smiled and said, ”This is the world’s most advanced security system, utilizing infrared sensory detectors. My collection room is densely packed with infrared monitors, so that not even a mosquito can get in. But now the system is turned off, you can enter safely.”

Saying this, Adrian gestured to Huo Sining and Li Jun to enter the collection room: ”Now, Miss Huo, my collection room is right before your eyes. Everything in here has been collected from Huaxia and European countries since my ancestors.”

Huo Sining and Li Jun cautiously entered the collection room. However, once inside, Huo Sining widened her eyes in shock.

This was not just a basement; it was an entire underground floor. The entire castle, from the living room to the dining room to the guest room, occupied at least a thousand square meters. This basement was created by hollowing out the entire bottom of the castle. Standing at the entrance, Huo Sining couldn’t even see the end of the basement.

Such a large basement was filled with curio shelves everywhere they looked. The shelves were jam-packed with items.

There were so many collectibles here, even more than a typical museum hall. Even the Dongdu National Museum paled in comparison to these collections.

Huo Sining originally had a changed perception of this Mr. Earl, but upon seeing these treasures, her emotions surged once again.

These antiques... were stolen from the Yuanmingyuan!

Huo Sining felt very complicated, quickly browsing through the collection room and noticing many different details.

In this collection room, the floor was covered in thick wool carpets, and in the corners of the room, air dehumidifiers were installed approximately every twenty or thirty meters.

This was why the air in this basement was cooler but dry compared to other rooms.

Moisture in the air is the biggest factor causing damage to antiques. The Earl was indeed very professional and meticulous in the preservation of these cultural relics, even the material used for the walls of this basement differed from the materials used in the upstairs decoration.
