Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1466: Chapter 1450: Gambling City Encounters Jade Betting Stone

”My apologies, everyone, we suddenly have an urgent matter, and the shop is temporarily closed, so we cannot serve you at this moment. I sincerely apologize for inconveniencing you. If you still wish to see something, perhaps you can come back next time?”

The shop assistant, seemingly unaccustomed to driving away customers, wore a somewhat awkward and embarrassed expression. Before he even finished speaking, his face had already turned red, and his uneasy demeanor amused Huo Sining.

”It’s alright. We’ve been looking for quite a while and couldn’t find anything in your shop. If anything, we’ve wasted your time.”

Huo Sining waved her hand with a smile, then noticed the shop assistant carrying a box that revealed a powerful flashlight.

Huo Sining appeared slightly surprised, and then, as if she had thought of something, she looked at the assistant and asked:

”Excuse me, what’s the sudden rush? Are you going to check some goods?”

The assistant hesitated upon hearing Huo Sining ask, his tone faltering: ”Well—”

”Is it gambling stones?”

Huo Sining asked directly.

The assistant’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Huo Sining: ”How did you know?”

Realizing that his response inadvertently confirmed Huo Sining’s inquiry, his expression turned awkward, and he simply kept silent.

”I apologize for my curiosity. I only noticed that elderly gentleman leave in such a hurry and saw you carrying this, which made me curious.”

Seeing the assistant’s somewhat unnatural expression, Huo Sining cleverly smiled:

”Honestly, I work in the jadeite business back in Huaxia, and I’ve had some experience with gambling stones, which is why I’m intrigued.”

Hearing this, the assistant was astonished: ”You’re in the gambling stone business in Huaxia as well?”

Huo Sining nodded: ”You seem to have never been to Huaxia.”

The assistant blushed slightly, nodding in acknowledgment: ”I’m an American-born Chinese; my grandfather and father are genuine Huaxia people, but my mother is American. I’ve lived in Las Vegas since childhood. My father often spoke of how beautiful Huaxia is, but I’ve never had the chance to visit.”

”That’s a pity. Compared to Las Vegas, Huaxia’s breathtaking landscapes are like heaven. If you have the chance, you should definitely visit Huaxia.”

Huo Sining shrugged, having established some rapport with the assistant. Her intent was clear: ”Could you kindly lead my friends and me to see the gambling stones?”

Before the assistant could refuse, Huo Sining eagerly assured him: ”Don’t worry, my friends and I just want to have a look. We absolutely won’t cause any trouble.”

If this were in China, Huo Sining wouldn’t be particularly interested in small-scale gambling stones, but being in Las Vegas, at the edge of the vast desert, discovering gambling stones caught her attention.

She was genuinely curious about how gambling stones were sold in such a remote desert and what kind of quality they had.

The assistant, seemingly trained by the elderly gentleman earlier, was quite adept at business but lacked social skills.

Due to his reserved and shy nature, the assistant didn’t know how to refuse Huo Sining’s request, so after contemplating for a while, he reluctantly nodded: ”Alright.”

Without a hint of guilt for exploiting the young man’s honesty, Huo Sining turned around and exchanged a glance with the excited Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan, before the group of five excitedly followed the shop assistant out the door.

The old man’s house was not far from Shufangzhai, just a couple of turns away.

It was a rundown old courtyard, with a two to three-meter high pale brick wall crawling with climbing plants around it. Once inside, the group heard the buzzing sound of a stone-cutting machine.

”Si’er, hurry over here!”

Upon entering the courtyard, they heard the annoyed voice of the Shufangzhai old man: ”What’s the hold-up? Hurry up or the good stuff will be snatched by these old men!”

Huo Sining then noticed that besides the Shufangzhai old man, there were seven or eight elderly men in the courtyard, all aged in their sixties or seventies. Despite their gray hair, they were fervently engrossed in gambling stones, wearing reading glasses and holding magnifying glasses and flashlights while scrutinizing the stones.

The assistant was about to deliver the box when someone approached, spotting the five girls and youngsters following him. He furrowed his brows, asking: ”Si’er, who are these?”

Remembering Huo Sining and the others, the assistant quickly explained: ”Grandpa Bai, these are customers from my shop. They learned about the gambling stones here and wanted to take a look. I couldn’t refuse, so I brought them over.”

”I don’t allow outsiders here; have you forgotten?”

Grandpa Bai glanced behind the assistant, seeing the group of women and children, and his previously tight brow relaxed slightly. With a hint of reproach, he said: ”You never remember; don’t bring random people next time. Just this once!”

The assistant looked cautiously at Grandpa Bai’s expression, relieved when he saw no displeasure. He shyly smiled:

”I understand; it won’t happen again. These guests mentioned that they are in the jadeite gambling stone business in Huaxia, so I took the initiative to bring them over.”

Grandpa Bai listened, then discreetly surveyed Huo Sining and the group. As if recalling something, his gaze returned to Huo Sining. His expression paused, eyes flashing subtly, before casually addressing the assistant:

”Okay, I understand. I’ll attend to these guests. You go help your grandfather; if you’re not quick, he’ll get angry.”

The assistant hurriedly grabbed the toolbox and ran off to assist his grandfather, while Grandpa Bai approached Huo Sining and asked: ”Are you here for gambling stones as well?”

Huo Sining shook her head: ”We heard about the gambling stones here and became curious, so we wanted to take a look.”

Grandpa Bai raised his eyebrows. If he had been uncertain before, with Huo Sining speaking, he was now convinced. The young woman before him was indeed the mysterious Huaxia Jade Queen, the owner of Jade Beauty, making waves in the gambling stone world, and recently causing a stir at the much-talked-about appraisal event in New York.

Since the New York International Appraisal Conference, anything related to Huo Sining has been intensely spotlighted by the media, even her mentor Qin Shaoyou.
