Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 716: Chapter 716 – I Don’t Deserve to Be Her Father

The moon goddess nodded, her expression calm, her ancient eyes holding centuries of wisdom and sorrow.

”Yes, you and Voren have strong powers and strength but only the buff wolf has the ability to go into the underground fortress of the Lycans and come out alive. It’s just the way I made him. If things had gone as I planned, you and Ravyn would have either brought down the Lycans to their knees, made them slaves until they returned to me, or signed a peace treaty with them.”

”So what are you saying now?” Voren asked, not liking this. His jaw tightened, his arms tightening around Seraphine. His voice was sharp, edged with barely contained fury. ”That we can’t take down the Lycans now?”

”What I’m saying is.” The moon goddess explained, her voice patient but firm, each word carrying the weight of divine judgment.

”Ravyn doesn’t have the ability to go into the Lycans territory without Seraphine as his mate. If he had consecrated his marriage with her, he would have seen the difference instantly. His powers would have awakened but he treated her as nothing.”

This was where Ravyn broke down. The tears came without warning, hot and relentless, streaming down his face like rain on parched earth. His shoulders shook with silent sobs, his hands pressing against his chest as if he could somehow hold together the fragments of his shattered heart.

The agony carved lines into his face, twisted his features into something broken and raw. It was natural for the werewolf leaders to claim power and authority. He had it all but threw it away in a moment of lust with the wrong woman.

The weight of that choice crushed him now, buried him beneath the rubble of his own failures.

The moon goddess’s attention turned to Voren, her gaze sharp and knowing.

”You are your own specialty and unlike Ravyn who can easily blend in and make Alphas bend to him without violence, I made you to always stand out.”

She paused, letting the words settle, letting them sink into the bones of everyone present.

”I gave Ravyn charisma, but I made you different. You are not made to pretend or bend, and your power does not rely on the love wolf. I only made her to calm your beast because he’s too wild, and I made hers weak, so that strengthening it would bring you close.”

She paused, allowing the words to settle, allowing the weight of her revelation to press down on everyone present.

”Voren, your powers can awaken with or without the love wolf, and you don’t need the white wolf as much as the buff wolf. However, you chose the white wolf, who is already powerful and can stand and rule on her own but somehow, she knows how to submit, and that’s remarkable.”

”Now, with the two of you together, power is centered in one pack. I’m just afraid that one day, if you both turn evil, then no one would be able to redeem the werewolf race.”

”That would never happen.” Voren said seriously, his voice carrying the weight of absolute conviction. The words were a vow, a promise carved into the very fabric of his being. The moon goddess nodded, a flicker of something that might have been pride crossing her features.

”I was just stating the what-ifs, never said you will, and that’s why the Lycans are envious of your power and strength. That’s why they would make things difficult for you.”

She smiled bitterly, the expression twisting her features into something beautiful and sad. She was proud of how far Voren had brought his race, but destiny could also not be fulfilled and that was a two-edged sword. One side hope. The other, destruction.

”The crown has always belonged to the Lycans, and the mythical stone has always belonged to the werewolves. The crown must be won by a Lycan, and the mythical stone by a werewolf to restore the order but that can’t happen in this generation. For now, it’s safe for the crown to be here, at the Grimroot pack because if the Lycans get it, even with a little drop of Esperanza’s blood, their king can have eternal life.”

The revelation stunned everyone. The words hung in the air like a death sentence, heavy and suffocating. Faces paled, breaths caught, hands trembled.

Every eye turned to Voren and Seraphine, the parents of the innocent child who held the key to everything. ”Why Espe’s blood and not mine?” Seraphine asked, afraid that the Lycans would not stop targeting her daughter.

”For what they use the white wolves for, I cannot tell you, but for Espe, it’s because she’s the only one of her kind. The white and buff wolf gives her a special power in her blood, and I’m not just talking about DNA. The Lycans already know this, so you have to protect her at all costs.” The moon goddess said seriously.

Voren frowned deeply, his brow furrowing with worry and determination. His arms tightened around Seraphine, pulling her closer, as if he could shield her from the weight of the words.

”So what’s going to happen now?” He asked, his voice tight with barely contained fury. ”They are invading our territory, polluting the minds of other Alphas.” He pointed out, the moon goddess smiled, her expression knowing.

”Esperanza will pick up from where Ravyn failed. She would be the one to bring unity between both races but for now, you and Sera are in charge of protecting the werewolves and maintaining the peace.”

”And me?” Ravyn asked, his gaze teary, his voice cracking with desperation. His hands trembled at his sides, his entire body shaking with the force of his emotions. The moon goddess shook her head, her expression filled with something that looked almost like pity.

”I’m sorry, Ravyn, but I already transferred your powers to your daughter. You no longer need Seraphine to function. You can now rule your pack with a new strength and power, without the need for the white wolf, and her wolf would no longer feed on your powers. I have sealed that connection.”

”How?” Seraphine asked, wondering how she never felt anything. The moon goddess replied, her voice calm and measured.

”That birthmark on your stomach is a portal. Your daughter has it behind her neck and now is the time to take back her memories of the ethereal realm. She would no longer be aware of what Ravyn did, and it is up to you to tell her about her real parentage.”

”No.” Ravyn disagreed, his voice sharp and broken, splintering like glass. He shook his head violently, his tears falling faster now, his body wracked with sobs.

”I don’t deserve to be her father. Voren has always been there for her. Thank you for erasing those painful memories and I’m glad she would not hate me anymore. However, her parentage should be Voren and Seraphine. That should be my punishment for ever wanting her dead.”
