Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 701: Chapter 701 - Now you got me into trouble

Seraphine woke up in annoyance from the alarm. The shrill sound cut through her sleep like a blade, dragging her from the warm cocoon of dreams and back into the cold reality of duty.

She knew exactly why it was ringing, knew exactly what awaited them beyond the sanctuary of their suite, but she only wished she had the chance to sleep longer. Just a few more minutes. Just a little more time wrapped in the warmth of her husband’s arms.

The position Voren had her in was rare, and intimate, and she didn’t want to break apart. Her body was tangled with his, her head resting on his chest, her legs intertwined with his own. It was a perfect moment, frozen in amber, and the alarm had shattered it.

”V, I need that honeymoon after the Blood Moon Festival.”

Her voice came out annoyed, petulant, the voice of a woman who had been denied something she desperately wanted. She rolled to the side, leaving Voren’s erection painfully hard, a silent punishment for the interruption.

”Trust me, nothing will ruin our honeymoon,” Voren assured her, his voice rough with sleep and desire. He pressed a kiss to her shoulder before they both forced themselves out of bed and freshened up together.

When they came up with the plan to nail the witches, Oriana told them a secret about the crowns. A secret that changed everything.

If both the King and Queen crowns were paired with both necklaces, no one would be able to take them except their owners.

This revelation made the plan easy, giving both Voren and Seraphine the comfort of allowing the crowns and necklaces to be added to the items on display. A trap, a lure, a perfect snare.

Still, Seraphine did not rush.

She took her time to put on semi-formal clothes, just as Voren did. At the pack, they had to look their best when appearing in front of the pack. Every detail mattered. Every impression counted especially with guests around.

Just as Oriana had told them, both Candy and Jane were stuck to the jewelry. Their hands were frozen in place, their fingers glued to the metal like flies trapped in honey.

”What’s going on here?”

Voren’s voice rang through the gallery, cold and commanding. He pretended like he didn’t know, his expression a perfect mask of confusion and anger.

”Alpha King, Alpha Queen.”

Candy was the first to speak, her voice soft and pleading, her gaze pinned on Seraphine. There was something desperate in her eyes, something wild and panicked.

She had her hands on the necklace but could not activate the soul swap because she could not get the necklace to her neck. It was clear that Seraphine was winning again but after what she’d done to her in Paris, Candy was not willing to let things slid.

”We were just looking.”

Her gaze rested on her hand on the necklace, the evidence of her crime impossible to deny. With all the people gathered here, there was no way to get the crown and necklace anymore. What kind of bad luck was this?

”I said to not touch and yet you disobeyed me.” Voren’s voice was steel and both witches shivered. The sound of it was cold enough to freeze fire, sharp enough to draw blood.

”It’s not what you think.”

Candy was trying to explain when Voren roared, his voice echoing off the glass walls like thunder.

”Alpha Ravyn.”

Ravyn walked through the crowd, his footsteps heavy, his expression grim. He stood beside Candy, his presence a dark cloud that seemed to swallow the light around him. He leaned in and whispered to her ear, his voice low enough that only she could hear.

”Now you got me into trouble.”

He pulled back and slapped her hard in the face, the crack of flesh against flesh echoing through the gallery. His voice was loud enough for anyone around to hear, carrying across the space with the weight of betrayal.

”How could you do this? I trusted you and was waiting for you in bed.”

Then he turned to Voren, his expression drifting into something contrite, something pleading.

”I’m sorry, Alpha King. It’s my fault for bringing my girlfriend.”

”It’s indeed your fault.” Voren agreed, his voice cold and unforgiving.

”You wanted the crown. That’s why you planned this with them.” Voren accused Ravyn, his eyes burning with suspicion. The latter shook his head, his hands raised in a gesture of innocence.

”No, I had no idea they would do this. I honestly haven’t known her for long.”

Beside Kylie, Daisy was happy that the two women were in trouble. They paraded themselves around the pack with Ravyn all the time, breaking her heart each time.

If only she knew that Ravyn’s keeping them close was to prevent them from breaking lose and casting a spell on his pack.

Voren glared at him, his gaze sharp enough to cut glass. ”If you are innocent, then our shaman will know.”

He turned to the two women, his expression hardening into something terrifying.

”If you confess, your punishment will be lesser. But if you let me dig it up, not only your corpses, but those of everyone you hold dear will be added.”

Ravyn stepped away from Candy and quickly sent a message to Battal, his fingers flying across the screen.

’I told you this was risky. They’ve been caught, and you know how ruthless the King is.’

He was stunned by Battal’s response. ’Don’t worry. I have backup.’

Ravyn grew nervous. It meant there was another spy. Another traitor buried deep within their midst. But how could he get this information to Voren? And how could he identify the spy before it was too late?

”King Voren, you have to free us from the crown and necklace first.”

Jane’s voice came out pleading, desperate. The power from both the crown and necklace was making it impossible for her to mindlink with Amelia, cutting her off from the help she so desperately needed.

But Voren only scoffed, the sound sharp and dismissive. ”Your head will be separated from your body before your hands separate from that crown and pendant if you don’t start talking. And I mean, now.”
