Urban Martial Saint

Behind those Welcoming Pines upfront, whether it’s rock or hole, or even a mountain wall, people can at least stand on them.

But behind this Welcoming Pine, there’s an unexpected cliff, what’s going on? Walking blindly a hundred steps forward, won’t you fall into this cliff?

”This...” Ye Qing scratched his head, looking at Lin Tianyou beside him, who was also staring at Ye Qing in shock.

”Can we still go in there?” Lin Tianyou didn’t even mention the closed-eye part, because this path is basically a dead end.

Ye Qing truly doesn’t want to go in, but thinking about how Shen Tianjun and Bai Li Xi went in without hesitation, he couldn’t help but go in too. Besides, Bai Li Xi previously said that all eight people must go in; otherwise, Divine Doctor An Shiping’s legacy won’t appear, so retreating isn’t an option.

”Brother Lin, should I take this path!” Ye Qing looked at Lin Tianyou and said, ”You take the next path; it should be a bit better than this one.”

”Can you still walk with your eyes closed?” Lin Tianyou asked urgently, ”If you close your eyes, you’ll definitely fall into the cliff.”

”I think, probably not?” Ye Qing scratched his head, unconvinced that Divine Doctor An Shiping would leave such a dead end for people to walk. Since he mentioned walking one hundred steps with closed eyes, there must be a reason for it.

”Do you... really believe that person?” Lin Tianyou still somewhat doubted Bai Li Xi.

”Brother Lin, I trust him!” Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Moreover, he went in himself, as did Uncle Shen and that masked elder, so it should be fine. Perhaps, there are other mechanisms inside!”

”This...” Lin Tianyou scratched his head too, staying silent for a long time, then said, ”Since you trust them, I’ll take a chance with you. I’ll walk this path!”

”Let me take it!” Ye Qing stopped Lin Tianyou and said, ”Brother Lin, take the next path. Remember, definitely close your eyes and walk one hundred steps!”

Saying this, Ye Qing was quick and moved to the side of the Welcoming Pine without waiting for Lin Tianyou to stop him, leaving a mark on it. His urgency was because he didn’t want Lin Tianyou walking this path. Behind it lied a cliff, which, in Ye Qing’s view, was the most dangerous, and such dangerous tasks were better left untouched by Lin Tianyou.

Seeing Ye Qing like this, Lin Tianyou had no time to stop him, and could only helplessly say, ”Ye Qing, be sure to watch for your safety!”

”Brother Lin, I will, remember what I said, one hundred steps, don’t open your eyes.” Ye Qing loudly instructed again, then closed his eyes, heading forward in the direction of the Welcoming Pine.

Ye Qing had examined the terrain clearly from outside; where there were stones, where there were obstructions, all were etched in his mind. So, upon entering, despite closing his eyes, he cautiously bypassed the places memorized to avoid tripping over them.

However, strangely enough, Ye Qing walked for a while without encountering anything. On the contrary, the path was unexpectedly flat, without the slightest hindrance, a complete surprise to him. If the road remained flat like this, walking a hundred steps wouldn’t be challenging at all.

Nevertheless, Ye Qing did not dare to feel any joy, knowing that the cliff ahead was the true danger. Step by step, Ye Qing calculated distance and direction, slowing his pace as he approached the cliff’s edge. With each step, he carefully tested the ground, only continuing onward once assured of solid footing, enabling him to swiftly retract his foot should he misstep near the cliff’s edge.

”Forty-seven steps, forty-eight steps, forty-nine steps.”

Ye Qing counted his steps, also pondering his position with increasing astonishment. His calculations indicate he should have reached the cliff by now; according to this distance, he should have fallen into it already. Yet, he felt as though walking on flat ground, continuing to tread solid earth without encountering any cliff-like signs, absent of any tripping or missteps, leaving him bewildered by what was unfolding.

This is the direction he was heading in, and he clearly saw earlier that there was a cliff ahead. Based on his previous mental calculations, he should have reached the edge of the cliff within thirty paces. However, he had already walked fifty steps, yet still hadn’t touched the cliff’s edge. What on earth was going on?

Ye Qing was very curious, itching to open his eyes immediately to look around and see exactly where he was and how far he was from the cliff. However, he ultimately restrained himself; Bai Li Xi’s words made him dare not open his eyes. This was a direct instruction from Divine Doctor An Shiping—if he opened his eyes, he would really fall into this great formation, which would be troublesome.

So, despite the questions filling his mind, Ye Qing continued to move forward cautiously, step by step. His eyes were tightly shut, and he had no idea where he was in terms of direction. But he walked very carefully, not daring to be careless in the slightest.

”Roar!”

Just as Ye Qing reached the seventieth step, a roar suddenly rang out beside his ear, loud and deafening, clearly emitted by a powerful beast. Moreover, the sound was extremely close to Ye Qing, as if the beast was right next to him, startling Ye Qing. Having a beast emerge at this time was truly deadly. With his eyes closed, Ye Qing had no power to resist in the face of this beast. If the beast really attacked, wouldn’t he be doomed?

As Ye Qing’s heart raced with uncertainty, the beast’s roar came a second time, and this time it was even closer, as if the beast was rushing towards Ye Qing. His heart leaped even more, wishing to open his eyes immediately and deal with the beast first. However, in the end, he still resisted the impulse. Having already reached seventy steps, it wasn’t worth it to abandon all efforts at this point.

Fortunately, although the beast’s roar grew closer and even seemed to ring in Ye Qing’s ears in the end, the beast never attacked him, as if it was merely using its roar to scare him.

This situation somewhat reassured Ye Qing, who estimated that the beast was probably also intended to confuse him. He boldly closed his eyes and continued walking forward. In the next few dozen steps, Ye Qing surprisingly finished all within less than five minutes.

Exactly one hundred steps, Ye Qing finally breathed a long sigh of relief. Opening his eyes to look around, everything he had seen earlier was gone, and he was now on a very beautiful mountainside. All around were beautiful flowers and plants, some still blooming despite the season. The air was filled with a fresh fragrance, much better than outside.

Ye Qing looked up and around; everywhere was filled with flowers and plants, like a paradise, incredibly beautiful. There were no trees on the mountain, but everywhere was lush and verdant, making people marvel at its beauty.

Turning to look around, Ye Qing’s gaze was suddenly attracted by some flora beside him. As he looked at them one by one, he couldn’t help but whisper: ”Seven Spirits Grass, Resurrection Flower, Heartless Vine, how come there are so many precious herbs here?”

The names of these herbs were ones Ye Qing had seen in Acupoint Seeking Technique. These herbs were very rare. Ye Qing had asked Lin Tianyou before—despite his long years of practicing medicine, many herbs he only knew by name, never having seen them. In fact, nowadays, many diseases are not impossible to treat, merely lacking the necessary herbs, as many have become extinct.

Ye Qing did not expect to find these precious herbs here, some even rumored to be extinct. How surprising that they were still hidden here!

”This is Medicine King Mountain!” Ye Qing sighed softly. Even though he had never seen Medicine King Mountain before, he understood that what he was seeing now was the true Medicine King Mountain. The outside was merely its periphery.

Just as Shen Tianjun had said, Medicine King Mountain was covered with rare herbs everywhere, truly living up to its name. However, Ye Qing still couldn’t quite understand how these herbs survived on Medicine King Mountain. The geographical environment of Medicine King Mountain—how could it allow all these herbs to grow here? Divine Doctor An Shiping’s methods were indeed too extraordinary!

With doubts lingering, Ye Qing turned to look back; the path he had taken was long gone, replaced by various rare herbs all around, stretching out of sight. More crucially, there was no Welcoming Pine or cliff behind him; he was completely atop Medicine King Mountain.

”What exactly is happening?” Ye Qing scratched his head. That one hundred-step journey had taken him from the mountain’s base to its waist? How could this be possible? What exactly happened while he walked with his eyes closed? The great formation left by Divine Doctor An Shiping truly seemed excessively magical!

Faced with such a situation, Ye Qing couldn’t fathom the reason despite racking his brains. Finally, he shook his head, deciding not to dwell on these questions any longer, and turned to continue ascending to the top of Medicine King Mountain. Since he had already entered, why ponder so many things? Better to first look around the mountain.

Ye Qing didn’t initially come seeking the legacy of Divine Doctor An Shiping, but Medicine King Mountain is renowned throughout the world. Since he had come here, of course, Ye Qing wanted to explore this Medicine King Mountain.
