Xiao Hua’er widened her eyes and looked at Ye Qing, nodding as if she understood, even though she didn’t really grasp what Ye Qing meant. However, she realized that the two people before her no longer blamed her.

”Oh my, Patriarch Huangfu, Mr. Ye, you truly have hearts of gold!” Old Five An expressed his excitement, gesturing wildly, ”This child... it’s also my fault for not teaching her well. Rest assured, nothing like this will happen again!”

Huangfu Ziyu ignored Old Five An and gently asked Xiao Hua’er, whom she held in her arms, ”Xiao Hua’er, it’s so late, haven’t you eaten yet?”

”No…” Xiao Hua’er hung her head, remaining silent for a while before softly saying, ”It’s... it’s because Grandma is sick, and the village doctor said she’s malnourished and needs to eat something nutritious. I... I saw Fifth Uncle bringing... bringing a lot of delicious food during the day, so surely it must be nutritious. That’s why... that’s why I’ve been hiding in the manor, hoping to take some leftovers back to feed Grandma after you all finish eating, so... so Grandma can get some nutrition and recover from her illness...”

Upon hearing this, the people around felt even more troubled in their hearts.

”This child, she’s too considerate!” Wolf Monk couldn’t help but sigh softly.

”This... this...” Old Five An felt more embarrassed, scratching his head and softly said, ”It’s not just a malnutrition problem; the grandmother is old and has several illnesses. The child is young and doesn’t understand much, so that’s why she said that...”

”It’s alright, I’m a doctor, I’ll go take a look!” Lin Tianyou gently patted Xiao Hua’er, smiling, ”Little girl, Uncle will help make your grandma well, okay?”

”Uncle, can you really cure Grandma?” Xiao Hua’er looked at Lin Tianyou with hope. In her young mind, she didn’t know her grandma’s exact condition, only thinking about how to get her well.

”Of course!” Lin Tianyou smiled, ”Uncle is very good at medicine!”

Even though Lin Tianyou had great medical skills, he never spoke such words. However, facing Xiao Hua’er, he said this because he didn’t want this sensible little girl to be disappointed.

”But... but we have no money...” Xiao Hua’er lowered her head, twisting the corner of her clothes, and softly said, ”Uncle, could you help treat Grandma’s illness first? I will... I will repay you after... after I sell myself, okay?”

”Huh?” Hearing this, everyone was shocked, and Old Five An immediately glared at Xiao Hua’er, exclaiming, ”Xiao Hua’er, why would you say such a thing? Why would you sell yourself?”

”I... I often hear Dad saying he wants to sell me for money...” Xiao Hua’er looked at Lin Tianyou hopefully and said, ”Uncle, can Xiao Hua’er also be sold for some money? If not, could you help my grandma get better, and I will sell myself to you, alright? Just, could you not cut off Xiao Hua’er’s hands, because she’s scared of the pain...”

Hearing these words, Lin Tianyou couldn’t help but be moved to tears. He gently patted Xiao Hua’er on the forehead and softly said, ”Xiao Hua’er, don’t worry, you will always be with Grandma, no one will cut off your hands, and you will live happily ever after!”

As for Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu, their hearts were also heavy. Looking at this child, everything else seemed to fade into the background. Every word the child spoke felt like it pierced their hearts, making them involuntarily want to cherish her.

”Alright, let’s not talk about this now!” Ye Qing said, ”Brother Lin, let’s go and check on Xiao Hua’er’s grandma first.”

”Alright!” Lin Tianyou returned to his room and brought out his medical kit. This was Lin Tianyou’s standard equipment, almost always carried with him when he went out, just in case.

Everyone followed Xiao Hua’er to the most dilapidated house in the village. From a distance, they could already smell a musty odor, hinting at the situation within the house.

Even though everyone braced themselves, they were still taken aback by the condition of the house upon entering. It wasn’t fit for human habitation; it was just an empty shell with some broken furniture that would be rejected even if discarded. In the corner, there was a pile of waste paper and plastic bottles, which, according to Old Five An, Xiao Hua’er collected when she went to town during the day. The family’s expenses mostly relied on Xiao Hua’er collecting garbage for money. Yet, whenever An Hongyuan returned, he would seize this money, highlighting the dire state of this family.

In the inner room, there was an old, worn-out bed covered with moldy and blackened bedding. However, this was the best piece of furniture in the room. On the bed lay an emaciated old woman, seemingly Xiao Hua’er’s grandma. She lay there, too weak to even open her eyes, let alone speak to everyone.

Standing by the bed was a little girl of about four or five years old. Upon seeing everyone enter, she looked on timidly, standing by the bed with fear in her eyes, clearly showing her apprehension.

”Little Duoduo, don’t be afraid, these uncles and aunts are here to help grandma get better!” Old Five An went over quickly, reassuring the little girl. Apparently, this little girl was somewhat familiar with Old Five An, so she wasn’t as fearful.

Xiao Hua’er had been holding onto Lin Tianyou’s clothes as they walked in, as if afraid he might suddenly change his mind and leave. Once inside, she immediately went to Little Duoduo, saying, ”Sister, don’t be scared, Uncle’s a doctor, he can make Grandma better!”

Little Duoduo timidly nodded, but still didn’t dare speak, merely standing behind Xiao Hua’er. At this moment, Xiao Hua’er truly appeared like an older sister, despite her earlier timidity, she puffed out her chest to shield Little Duoduo behind her.

”Come, Xiao Hua’er, bring your sister over to have some treats.” Huangfu Ziyu had brought some snacks, inviting Xiao Hua’er and Little Duoduo over.

Looking at the exquisite snacks in Huangfu Ziyu’s hands, Little Duoduo clearly swallowed, but still hid behind Xiao Hua’er, not daring to go over.

Xiao Hua’er was a bit envious too, but she was more focused on Lin Tianyou. Snacks were certainly tempting, but in her heart, she was more eager to see the doctor help her grandmother.

”Xiao Hua’er, take your sister over there to have something to eat, I’ll check on your grandmother,” Lin Tianyou said with a light smile.

”That’s right, Xiao Hua’er, Auntie is giving you candy, hurry and thank Auntie!” Old Five An chimed in immediately.

The words from Lin Tianyou and Old Five An eased Xiao Hua’er’s mind considerably. She pulled Little Duoduo to Huangfu Ziyu, politely thanked her, took the snacks from her hands, peeled one, and stuffed it into Little Duoduo’s mouth, which was already watering.

Seeing Little Duoduo’s delighted eating expression, Xiao Hua’er swallowed her saliva too and asked softly, ”Sister, how is it? Is it tasty?”

”Mm, so... so tasty...” Little Duoduo’s mouth was full of snacks, making her speech a bit unclear.

Xiao Hua’er’s eyes lit up, and she couldn’t help but swallow a few more times. However, she didn’t eat any herself but took out another and gave it to Little Duoduo, putting the rest in her own pocket.

”Xiao Hua’er, why aren’t you eating?” Huangfu Ziyu asked curiously from the side.

”I... I’m not hungry...” Xiao Hua’er anxiously watched Lin Tianyou, who was giving her grandmother a checkup, her thoughts mostly focused there.

”Even if you’re not hungry, have a taste. These are really good!” Huangfu Ziyu suggested.

”Are they nutritious?” Xiao Hua’er asked.

”Of course they are,” Huangfu Ziyu nodded.

”Then I won’t eat!” Xiao Hua’er shook her head and said, ”The nutritious things should be given to Grandma to eat, so that Grandma can get better!”

Huangfu Ziyu couldn’t help but sigh deeply. Xiao Hua’er’s sensibility made her heart ache. Even at this moment, what she thought of most was her grandmother, and that was truly admirable.

Lin Tianyou stood by the bed, using the tools he brought to give the elderly woman a preliminary examination.

”How is it?” As soon as Lin Tianyou put away his things, Ye Qing nervously asked, ”How is the old lady’s condition?”

”Nothing serious, mainly because of old age and lack of nutrition,” Lin Tianyou said. ”With her physical condition, if she can have proper recuperation, she’ll be fine.”

”That’s easy to handle!” Ye Qing immediately felt a bit relieved; he was only afraid that the old lady had caught some severe illness. Even though Lin Tianyou’s medical skills were top-notch, given her age, she couldn’t handle much stress. It’s best that she’s not ill. Supplying nutrition is not a difficult task at all.

”Mr. Bai.” Ye Qing turned to Bai Yuanhang, who immediately came over and said, ”Mr. Ye, what do you need?”

Ye Qing said, ”Could you help me arrange something, find two people to take care of the elderly lady and these two children? Oh, and get some nutritional supplements to replenish the old lady’s nutrition first.”

”Rest assured, Mr. Ye, I’ll take care of it!” Bai Yuanhang immediately turned to Old Five An, who nodded in understanding and said, ”Mr. Ye, Bai, don’t worry, I’ll make sure everything is done!”

Old Five An said, turning to leave, but was stopped by Ye Qing: ”Mr. An, wait a moment.”

”Buying nutritional supplements costs money, after all.” Ye Qing took out a stack of money and handed it to Old Five An, saying, ”Take this money first. Buy some things, get what’s needed, and it’s best to find a couple of people to help out. If it’s not enough, I’ll make up for it after things here are settled!”

”This...” Old Five An looked at the money in Ye Qing’s hand, not daring to accept it. It wasn’t about how much money it was, but accepting the money would put Bai Yuanhang in a tough spot. After all, Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu were honored guests, and they certainly couldn’t let them pay.
