Reborn in the Apocalypse: A Seductive Beauty Captivates a Pure-hearted Roughneck

29: Chapter 29 Which handsome guy are you pursuing?”Okay, when are you coming back?”

”Tomorrow, I suppose. I need to discuss with Grandpa Zhou which day to report this matter.”

The process of collecting supplies had gone so smoothly that reporting it sooner would definitely be better. She wanted to set it for seven days from now, but she had to see how Grandpa Zhou’s preparations were coming along.

”I’ll go with you.” Lu Chengyue replied quickly.

”No need. If the authorities don’t believe me and try to arrest me, you’ll need to help me look after my family.”

It was always right to have a backup plan. Just in case—what if the worst really did happen?

Lu Chengyue sat on a bench outside the Fire Station, holding his phone in both hands with a solemn expression. ”I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”

He didn’t say whether he would go or not, but he wanted to. If they really tried to arrest her, he would risk his life to protect her.

”Okay, I’ll let you know once I’ve booked the flight.” Xu Wanning happily put her phone away.

Song Yunqing leaned in. ”Ningning, tell me the truth: which handsome guy are you actually chasing? Zhou Ke and Lin Ci are so handsome, yet you don’t like them. The upperclassmen and underclassmen who pursued you before were also very handsome, but you didn’t want them either. Tell me, who do you actually like?”

She was dying of curiosity, scratching her head every day wanting to know.

”Lu Chengyue.” Since Zhiyu already knew, there was no need to hide it from Qingqing and Yangyang anymore.

Song Yunqing stumbled back and landed on her butt.

Xu Wanning grabbed her arm. Was she really that shocked?

”Oh my, what happened?” Song Shouyi and Liu Meilan hurried over to help her up.

Song Yunqing sat back on the chair, still struggling to recover. ”You actually like Zhiyu’s brother? When did this happen? Was it that day we went to the Fire Station?!”

Xu Wanning shook her head. ”Of course not. I liked him in my past life, but I missed out for too long. In this life, I don’t want to miss out again.”

”I’m currently pursuing him. I originally planned to tell you all after he agreed to be with me, but I didn’t expect Zhiyu to figure it out. Since she already knows, I won’t hide it from you either.”

Song Yunqing gestured at Lu Chengyue’s burly frame. ”You actually like that type? Aren’t you afraid that if you have a disagreement...”

Liu Meilan reached out and hit Song Yunqing. ”What are you doing?! As long as Nickname likes him, that’s all that matters. Stop talking nonsense.”

She looked apologetically at Xu Wanning. ”Nickname, don’t listen to her nonsense. Auntie Lan trusts your judgment. The young man you like definitely won’t be bad. When we go to Jing City, introduce us, okay?”

Xu Wanning nodded. ”Mhm, I’ll definitely introduce you. He’s a really good person—so good that even in The Apocalypse, I wouldn’t be afraid.”

She looked at Song Yunqing. ”In my past life, I was with him when I died. To cover my escape, he blocked the door to the rooftop with his life, getting bitten by zombies, bleeding profusely. How could a person like that ever be willing to lay a hand on me?”

”Besides, in reality, people who commit domestic violence don’t necessarily have muscles, and there are plenty of people who do good deeds who have muscles. You can’t judge a book by its cover.”

She didn’t have a professional filter; she wouldn’t assume all Firefighters were good people who wouldn’t cheat or commit domestic violence. In the end, she simply trusted the A-Yue she knew.

Song Yunqing pouted. ”I was wrong, I was wrong. I didn’t really think he was abusive; it was just a slip of the tongue, I didn’t mean it.”

Xu Wanning rubbed her head. ”I know.”

They had been sisters for so many years; how could she not know that she was just blunt and simple-minded? If she were to nitpick everything, she’d be driven to anger.

After lunch, Song Shouyi and Liu Meilan went back to work. Song Yunqing took Xu Wanning horseback riding. Her family didn’t raise horses on a large scale; they only had two horses they usually rode.

Song Yunqing patted the white steed. ”Ningning, you ride this one. This is my mom’s horse; it’s quite docile. My dad’s horse won’t let anyone but our family ride it.”

”Okay.” Xu Wanning touched the white horse. It was her first time riding, and she was a bit nervous. Her hands started to tremble when she grabbed the saddle. She wasn’t even afraid of zombies, yet she was afraid of riding a horse. She didn’t know if it was instinct.

Song Yunqing helped hold the white horse’s reins. ”Step here, yes, push! Great!”

Following Song Yunqing’s instructions, Xu Wanning performed each step and successfully got on the horse.

”I’ll lead you for two laps first, then you can ride by yourself.” Song Yunqing pulled the horse and slowly walked forward.

Xu Wanning took a photo and posted it in a show-off manner to the newly created family group, excluding her aunt and uncle.

”Qin Qingru: Oh my, this horse is really handsome. Second Aunt hasn’t ridden a horse before; I’ll have to try it if I get the chance in the future.”

Second Aunt was always the first to reply because she didn’t have any hobbies other than watching short dramas, and her phone never left her hand.

She used to be able to restrain herself when she was a teacher, but now that she had quit her job, she watched them all day long.

”Lin Wanqiu: Ningning, be careful. Don’t fall off. If that horse gets spooked, it can easily trample someone to death.”

Her mom was always concerned about her daughter’s safety first. Xu Wanning had often received links from her mom about various types of safety hazards.

”Xu Jingan: Daughter, your mom is right, be careful. Also, I just saw you eating ribs on your Moments; they looked delicious. Bring some for Dad next time.”

Her dad didn’t have any special hobbies, just loved to eat. In the future, with Uncle Song and Auntie Lan around, he would definitely have some good food to enjoy.

The rest were just random messages from family members. Xu Wanning read them one by one. It felt so good that her family was all alive.

”Ningning, try it yourself.” Song Yunqing handed the reins to Xu Wanning.

Xu Wanning tentatively flicked the reins, but the white horse didn’t show any intention of moving. She looked at Song Yunqing with a flushed face. ”Qingqing, it won’t move.”

Song Yunqing covered her mouth, her eyes curving. ”You have to shout ’Giddy-up’ and ’Whoa’.”

She used to think Ningning could learn anything well, but she didn’t expect her to be unable to ride a horse. Hehe, she was so cute; her face had turned as red as a tomato.

”Giddy-up.” Xu Wanning flicked the reins, and accompanied by the word ”Giddy-up,” the white horse actually started walking.

She didn’t dare let the horse run, so it just walked slowly. Soon, Song Yunqing caught up. She accompanied Xu Wanning as they walked, the two horses stopping from time to time to graze.

Looking at the endless grassland, Song Yunqing felt somewhat melancholy. ”Ningning, after The Apocalypse, will this grass mutate too?”

”Mhm.” Xu Wanning looked at Song Yunqing with heartache. ”When the first Acid Rain falls, all plants that haven’t mutated will wither and die. Only the mutated ones will be able to survive tenaciously. The mutated plants are also divided into infected plants and variant plants.”

”Infected plants are no different from zombies, while variant plants are basically the same as their original form, at most growing a bit larger. But they won’t stink or drip green slime, and they will kill zombies.”

”The Apocalypse, I hope you never come.” Song Yunqing took out her phone to take pictures, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.

Xu Wanning also raised her phone. She was recording—recording everything here. She captured Song Yunqing, the herds of cattle and sheep wandering on the grassland, and the people busy working. She could take it out and watch it later when she missed it.

Ding-dong. A message from Lu Chengyue popped up at the top of the screen: ”Wanning, Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan has come to find me.”
