I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 160: Chapter 157: Unlocking 2 New Recipes in a Row

After that, Li You continued the lottery draw.

Every customer who won was pleasantly surprised and delighted.

Xiao Yue won a prize as well.

When she heard her name called, Xiao Yue’s eyes curved into smiling crescents.

This beauty was quite pretty, with a great figure too. Among all the women present, she could be considered the most beautiful.

Soon, the names of the ten prize winners had all been announced.

The winners were all beaming with joy.

Those who didn’t win shook their heads in disappointment.

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, and the others were all shaking their heads.

Of course, while Wei Ping was disappointed he hadn’t won, he was still in a cheerful mood.

Because Wei Yuxi had won a prize.

Li You took out ten take-out boxes and placed the ten portions of tofu into them.

He awarded them to the ten prize winners.

Amidst the envious gazes of the others, the ten winners took their tofu back to their cars to store them safely.

...

The time slowly crept toward four in the afternoon.

Liu Jialiang arrived, riding a tricycle.

The cargo bed was filled entirely with plums.

Upon seeing him, Li You said to his customers, ”Uncle Jialiang is here. Come on, let’s go over.”

”Alright!”

Everyone walked toward the parking lot together.

Liu Jialiang had just parked his vehicle when he saw Li You approaching with a group of customers.

’So many people? No wonder he needed 600 jin.’

Liu Jialiang was both surprised and happy.

”Uncle Jialiang!” Li You called out with a smile.

”Uncle Jialiang!” Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, and the others also greeted him.

Liu Jialiang was even happier. Taking a closer look, he found that most of them looked somewhat familiar; he must have seen them before.

”Uncle Jialiang, you saw them last Saturday when you delivered the stone mill,” Li You said.

It dawned on Liu Jialiang, and he remembered. He immediately smiled and said, ”Hello, everyone, hello. Come, come, have some plums. Eat as many as you like, don’t be shy. Oh, right, I’ll go get some water to wash them.”

Li You said, ”Uncle Jialiang, I’ll go, I’ll go.”

With that, Li You returned to the front of his shop, drew a basin of water, and carried it back to the parking lot.

”Sorry to trouble you, Xiaoyou.”

After thanking him, Liu Jialiang scooped up some plums and placed them in the basin of water.

Once they were washed, he invited the customers to eat.

The customers thanked him one after another, then said they wouldn’t stand on ceremony.

They did indeed want to have a taste first.

Although these plums looked similar to the boss’s, they had to taste them to know what the flavor was like.

Each of them took a plum and started eating.

With the first bite, they were all overjoyed once again.

The taste was indeed no worse than the boss’s plums; they were delicious.

In that case, they were definitely worth buying.

And they should buy a lot. It was rare to come across plums that tasted this good.

Of course, they still had to ask the price first.

Xiao Yue said, ”Uncle Jialiang, these plums taste fantastic. They’re delicious. How much are you selling them for?”

Liu Jialiang said, ”Two yuan a jin. What do you think, is that a fair price?”

Two yuan a jin was very cheap.

With this taste, they could sell for at least three yuan a jin in the county town, maybe even four.

Xiao Yue said happily, ”That’s very cheap. I’ll take ten jin.”

”I’ll take ten jin too.”

”I want twenty jin.”

”I’ll have five jin.”

”...”

The customers rushed to buy, crowding around the tricycle’s cargo bed and filling their own bags with plums.

More people lined up behind them, waiting.

It was the first time Liu Jialiang had ever had such good business; he was grinning from ear to ear.

He was busy for quite a while, weighing plums and collecting money from the customers.

Slowly, all the plums in the cargo bed were sold out.

It wasn’t quite enough.

The last few customers had wanted to buy more, but there were none left.

This cart had about 650 jin of plums. Liu Jialiang had weighed them after picking them from the trees.

All 650 jin were sold just like that, for a total income of around 1,300 yuan.

Liu Jialiang was overjoyed beyond words.

”By the way, Uncle Jialiang, besides plums, do you have any other fruits at home?” Xiao Yue asked.

Liu Jialiang said, ”We also have peaches, grapes, and walnuts.”

Xiao Yue’s eyes lit up, and she added, ”Peaches and grapes are delicious too. They should be ripening soon, right?”

Liu Jialiang nodded. ”Soon. It won’t be long before they’re ready to eat.”

Xiao Yue said, ”Well, will you be selling the peaches and grapes? If you are, we’ll buy some from you then too.”

Hearing Xiao Yue say this, Zhang Rui’Er and many other customers also nodded in agreement.

In their view, if Liu Jialiang’s plums were this delicious, his other fruits probably wouldn’t be bad either.

Plus, the prices were low. They were definitely worth buying.

Liu Jialiang was delighted once again and said, ”Of course! When they’re ripe, you’re all welcome to come to my home to try them. You can buy them after you’ve tasted them and decided you like them.”

Xiao Yue, Zhang Rui’Er, and the others all nodded. ”Okay!”

At this moment, Li You returned to the front of the shop carrying the okara and said, ”Uncle Jialiang, we made tofu again today. You can take this okara back to feed your pigs.”

Liu Jialiang smiled. ”Great. Is that stone mill working well for you?”

Li You nodded. ”It works great. Uncle Jialiang’s craftsmanship is impeccable.”

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, and the others also chimed in, ”Stonemasons with skills as good as Uncle Jialiang’s are rare these days.”

Liu Jialiang laughed heartily, extremely pleased, but he said, ”My skills are just okay, I wouldn’t say they’re that good.”

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, and the others all replied, ”You’re being too modest, Uncle Jialiang!”

Everyone chatted idly for a while longer amidst the lively atmosphere before Liu Jialiang finally took his leave.

By now, it was already five in the afternoon.

Customers from town had already started arriving for dinner.

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhou Yang, and the others also began to order their food.

Since it was already this late, of course they would have dinner before heading back.

Li You walked into the kitchen and got busy.

Da Bai and Xiaohai also started to get busy.

After finishing their meals, Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhou Yang, and the others left one by one.

But the customers from town kept coming in waves.

This included teachers like Chu Yiwei, Lin Xin, and Zhang Qinghe, as well as business owners like Zhao Yu, Deng Luping, and Xie Hai.

As another wave of customers walked into the shop, the system’s voice sounded in his mind.

”Congratulations, Host. The current main quest, ’Have 200 customers enter the shop within one day,’ is complete.

Reward granted: One recipe, two lottery chances.”

Li You’s heart leaped with joy.

’I knew it. With the way things are now, getting 200 customers in a single day wouldn’t be too difficult.’

’And sure enough, I hit the target today.’

’One recipe and two lottery chances... just thinking about it is exciting.’

’I’ll check the recipe and use the lottery draws as soon as I have a free moment. I can’t wait!’

Li You continued to stay busy.

After another flurry of activity, he had finally served all the dishes the current customers had ordered.

Li You eagerly opened the Storage Pavilion and found the new recipe he had just received.

He opened it directly.

”Recipe: Tomato and Egg Soup!”

When he saw what it was, Li You was pleasantly surprised.

’I really was missing a soup dish.’

’Boiled Cabbage in Broth could technically be considered a soup, but that dish is far too expensive. The vast majority of people wouldn’t be willing to order it.’

Now, the Tomato and Egg Soup finally filled the gap of not having a proper soup on the menu.

’The system really knows what I’m lacking!’

’Not bad, not bad. It deserves a thumbs-up.’

Tomato and Egg Soup is arguably one of the most familiar soups, incredibly common and ordinary.

However, although this soup is common and ordinary, it is anything but simple.

It’s both a soup and a dish, with beautiful colors and a delicious flavor. It’s a popular dish found in every region.

However, some also classify it as part of Cantonese cuisine.

On the other hand, Stir-fried Tomato and Egg is considered Lu Cuisine.

But let’s just talk about the soup for now. Another, more important reason it’s not so simple is its high nutritional value.

Tomatoes and eggs each already have very high nutritional value on their own.

The lycopene in tomatoes has unique antioxidant properties, capable of clearing free radicals in the body that cause aging and disease.

It can also help prevent cardiovascular diseases and stop the progression of prostate cancer. Furthermore, it effectively reduces the risk of developing cancers such as pancreatic, colorectal, laryngeal, oral, and breast cancer.

Eggs, on the other hand, have the effects of nourishing yin and moistening dryness, calming the heart and spirit, enriching the blood to support pregnancy, and promoting longevity.

They are rich and comprehensive in nutrition.

Now, with this powerful combination, the effect is naturally greater than the sum of its parts.

Not only does it possess the above benefits, but it also has beautifying effects. It can make the skin more elastic and radiant, making it an absolute beauty-enhancing delicacy.

Therefore, eating more Tomato and Egg Soup is definitely very beneficial for one’s health.

Li You tapped the ”Learn” button and immediately began to learn the ”Tomato and Egg Soup” recipe.

He quickly mastered the recipe.

He looked at the ”Tomato and Egg Soup” recipe again.

”Recipe: Tomato and Egg Soup!

Ingredients required: Eggs, tomatoes, scallions, ginger, lard, salt, MSG.”

These were all very common ingredients.

Li You had all of these ingredients in his Storage Pavilion.

The eggs were free-range eggs he had brought from home this morning. The tomatoes were also picked from his family’s field this morning.

They were both of medium quality.

’I’ll make some Tomato and Egg Soup for my own meal later.’

Li You thought to himself with delight.

Then, he had the system open the lottery interface.

’I still have two lottery chances, might as well use them now.’

It was still the same four major categories: Recipes, Ingredients, Cookware, and Other.

He began the first draw.

The wheel spun rapidly before stopping, with the pointer aimed at the Recipe category.

’A recipe again?’

’Looks like I’m on a roll, getting ready to launch a bunch of new dishes one after another!’

’Let’s see what dish it is this time.’

Li You was still very much looking forward to it!

A beautiful gift box appeared once again. Amidst fluttering ribbons, the box slowly opened.

”Recipe: Braising Liquid Formula!”

’Huh?’

This recipe was a bit of a surprise to Li You. It wasn’t that he didn’t know what a ”Braising Liquid Formula” was, but rather because it was a somewhat special kind of recipe.

It was special because it didn’t specify a particular dish, but was a formula instead.

Beyond the surprise, he was also quite delighted.

Because a formula was obviously much more awesome.

With this formula, he could sell all sorts of braised dishes.

Braised chicken feet, braised pork head skin, braised pig ears, braised duck necks, and so on.

And these were all cold dishes.

When customers ordered them, he would just need to weigh and slice them, which was extremely convenient.

Moreover, Da Bai and Xiaohai could do the cutting, so Li You wouldn’t even have to do it himself.

’This is totally awesome!’
