I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 155: Chapter 154: This Isn’t Awesome, It’s Legendary

In that case, it was time to go in and eat.

The restaurant didn’t look very big from the outside, but it was surprisingly spacious inside.

Including the customers from town who were steadily trickling in, there were already over a hundred people.

But the restaurant easily accommodated them all.

”Da Bai, a bowl of liquor to start!”

One of the customers from town couldn’t wait and called for Da Bai to pour him a drink the moment he walked in.

”Liquor? The owner is selling liquor now?” Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhang Rui’Er, and the others were a little confused.

They weren’t selling any last Saturday when they came.

”They really are selling it. Look, there’s a huge liquor jar right over there,” someone said loudly, pointing after spotting it.

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, and the others looked over and saw that it was true.

Still, it was normal for a restaurant to sell alcohol.

Most restaurants did, after all.

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, and the others didn’t think much of it.

However, since there was alcohol, those who weren’t driving could have a drink.

And spicy crayfish was the perfect food to have with a drink.

Wei Ping had to drive, so he couldn’t drink.

But Liu Xu wasn’t driving today, so he could have some.

”Well then, shall we try the owner’s liquor and see how it tastes?” Liu Xu suggested.

”Of course, we have to try it!” many of the non-drivers readily agreed.

After everyone found their seats, Da Bai and Xiaohai began taking orders.

Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhang Rui’Er, and their group naturally ordered the spicy crayfish first.

They started with five catties for the table.

The spicy crayfish was served quickly. This was because Li You had already prepared several hundred catties of it, cooking them to a semi-finished state.

Once customers ordered the spicy crayfish, he only needed to perform the final step before plating.

He also used large woks. By operating three large woks simultaneously, he could serve the spicy crayfish at an incredible speed.

As a result, the spicy crayfish ordered by every table in the restaurant arrived swiftly.

The reason Li You could handle three large woks at once with such ease was thanks to the two consecutive system rewards he had received for improving his physical fitness.

Otherwise, forget three large woks; even handling a single one would have been a struggle.

’Having all these system rewards is great.’

In the dining hall.

Wei Ping’s family, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhang Rui’Er, Zhou Yang’s group of five—everyone, in fact—couldn’t contain their delight and excitement upon seeing the spicy crayfish on their tables.

The spicy crayfish looked absolutely delicious.

’So, what are we waiting for? Let’s dig in!’

Disposable gloves?

’Who needs disposable gloves?’

’We all washed our hands when we came in. Isn’t it more satisfying to just eat with your hands?’

Everyone dug in.

And with the first bite, everyone grew even more delighted and excited.

They knew it—the spicy crayfish here was bound to be far better than crayfish from anywhere else.

And they were right.

This was, without a doubt, the most delicious spicy crayfish ever.

It was much tastier than they had even imagined.

’Right, the liquor, the liquor. It would be an insult to this flavor not to have a drink with such delicious spicy crayfish.’

’Someone just said they wanted a bowl of liquor? Is it sold by the bowl? How much is a bowl?’

”Da Bai, how is the liquor priced?” Liu Xu asked Da Bai.

Da Bai replied, ”Twenty yuan per liang. A bowl has two liang.”

His words gave Liu Xu, Wei Ping, and the others a small shock.

’This liquor is a bit expensive!’

However, they didn’t assume Li You was overcharging. They knew that if Li You set this price, it must be worth it.

But it was definitely a little pricey.

’Let’s just get one liang for now. We’ll taste it first and see.’

So, everyone who planned to drink, Liu Xu included, asked Da Bai to get them just one liang to start.

Da Bai acknowledged and started pouring the liquor.

Soon, a single liang of liquor was placed in front of Liu Xu and all the others.

The incredibly rich and mellow aroma of the liquor took everyone by pleasant surprise.

’No wonder it costs twenty yuan per liang.’

’Just based on this aroma, this liquor has to be amazing.’

Everyone eagerly lifted their bowls and took a small sip.

Wei Ping, who was sitting at a table with his family and Liu Xu, watched Liu Xu take a sip and asked impatiently, ”So, Liu Xu, how is it?”

The rich, mellow aroma made him desperately want to drink as well.

But he couldn’t.

Normally, not being able to drink was no big deal.

But now that the liquor was clearly so delicious, it was torture.

After savoring the aftertaste for a long moment, Liu Xu slowly said, ”All I can say is, it’s far better than I imagined. It might... possibly... be the finest liquor in existence. At least, in my opinion, it’s the finest.”

It wasn’t just Liu Xu who called it the finest liquor. At that moment, everyone who had tasted it shared the same assessment.

What did those famous liquors that cost several hundred, a thousand, or even several thousand yuan a bottle taste like?

They had no idea; they’d never had any.

However, they were fairly certain those couldn’t possibly compare to this one.

They never expected the owner to be selling such an exquisite liquor.

Then again, they really should have expected it.

How could an owner who makes such supreme delicacies sell ordinary liquor?

To have access to a liquor like this... calling the owner ”awesome” wouldn’t even begin to cover it.

’Perhaps ”legendary” is more fitting?’

That’s right, legendary. This restaurant was legendary, and so was the owner.

Even if they weren’t legendary now, they were destined to become so in the future.

Everyone was utterly convinced of this.

’Twenty yuan per liang for this liquor?’

’That’s way too cheap!’

’Why would the owner sell it so cheaply?’

’It was obvious he wanted to make it affordable for ordinary people like them.’

Otherwise, even if the owner sold it for two hundred, or even two thousand yuan per liang, he would never lack for buyers.

’What kind of boldness does it take to sell a liquor like this for just twenty yuan per liang?’

That boldness alone was the stuff of legends.

Just the thought of being able to eat and drink here, of knowing the owner, was thrilling.

Everyone was once again overcome with excitement.

After hearing Liu Xu’s praise, Wei Ping was even more desperate for a sip.

But he truly couldn’t drink.

’Wait, I could buy some to take home and drink!’

’I wonder if they do takeout for the liquor?’

Wei Ping quickly asked Da Bai this question. He was deeply disappointed to learn that the liquor was not for takeout.

But there was nothing he could do.

’Oh well. I’ll just eat more food then.’

”Is the crayfish Uncle Li You made delicious?” Wei Ping asked his two children.

”Delicious!” the two little ones replied in unison.

Wei Ping smiled. ”Then eat up.”

Soon, the other dishes began to arrive: Crucian Carp with Agastache, Mapo Tofu, Twice-Cooked Pork with Garlic Sprouts, and more.

For Wei Ping, Liu Xu, Xiao Yue, Zhang Rui’Er, and the others, the Crucian Carp with Agastache was also a new dish.

So, they all dug in eagerly right away.

And with the first bite, they were of course thrilled—and not at all surprised—to discover that the best crucian carp they’d ever had in their lives was right here.

Of course, for the newcomers who were visiting for the first time today, it wasn’t just the spicy crayfish and crucian carp that were new—it was every single dish on the table.

They were even more excited and thrilled than Liu Xu, Wei Ping, Xiao Yue, and Zhang Rui’Er.

So, everything Liu Xu and the others had said before was true. Every single thing here could truly be called a supreme delicacy.

It was unbelievable that they could eat such exquisite food right here in their own Changxi County.

’Next time I see someone online bragging about how delicious the food is where they live, I’ll have to tell them to come here and see what a real supreme delicacy is.’

They were so glad they had tagged along today.

Otherwise, they would have had to wait even longer to taste this incredible food.

They took lots of pictures and posted them in Liu Xu’s group chat.

They knew that among the two-thirds of the group who didn’t come, a large portion had stayed away simply because they didn’t fully believe what Liu Xu and the others had said.

It wasn’t that they were busy with this or that and couldn’t make it.

Of course, they hadn’t fully believed them before, either.

But now, they were believers.

Now, they wanted to show those no-shows in the group chat just what the food here looked like.

Even though the others would most likely still not believe them after seeing the photos, at least they could flex a little, right?
