Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 723: Chapter 496: Can We Not Rush to Have Children?

The family of the marquess went to the palace, followed by various rewards pouring in one after another, even the maidservants and servants in the residence were all replaced.

It is said that those who started gossipping were sent to do laundry and handle chores.

Not only that, the third young master was directly promoted to the third rank, bestowed with a mansion and countless treasures. Starting tomorrow, he will serve at the Ministry of War, and he doesn’t even have to attend court, truly leisurely!

Though, all of this is for later discussion.

After returning from the palace, Xiaomi let out a long sigh of relief; this trip to the palace felt even more tiring than digging for a whole day.

The main stress was mental, consuming energy.

When returning home, Wei Ziang had not yet come back; it was said he was dragged to the Ministry of War.

The few masters who had cooperated with him in Lishi City had been eagerly waiting, hoping he could familiarize himself at the Ministry of War today and begin work directly tomorrow!

The cannons they mentioned for installing on ships still hadn’t been arranged!

Xuyu faces south towards the sea, naturally there are many fishermen. Although they haven’t gone to distant sea areas, there are many rumors about sea thieves.

Unfortunately, Xuyu’s capability for naval combat is not strong, mainly because shipbuilding is a bit lacking.

Of course, masters at the Ministry of War only forge weapons; shipbuilding is left to other people.

Moreover, having been in Lishi City for so many years, how could they not know that Xiaomi has been pondering over large ships these years, and even succeeded?

However, whether it’s shipbuilding or pirates, these are matters for other people; they just need to handle their own duties, such as improving cannons?

If they could come up with such delicate treasures like a musket, improving cannons surely wouldn’t be a problem, right?

Of course, doing these things today is still too rushed. Today is merely to familiarize themselves with the terrain and introduce everyone to each other.

Especially, they need to check the muskets already starting to be mass-produced.

Those capable of forging weapons at the Ministry of War all hold some positions, and casually, anyone’s craftsmanship is definitely top-notch.

When everyone saw Wei Ziang, each of them was surprised and delighted.

Surprised, naturally knowing that inventing the musket, although it was several people together, everyone said it was mainly due to Wei Ziang, and they often heard about this young man.

Just didn’t expect him to be so young, not even reaching the age of twenty.

Delighted, naturally because they met this teenage talent.

By the time Wei Ziang was finally let go by several masters and could return home, it was already evening.

And Xiaomi had been waiting for him in the courtyard all afternoon.

At this time, the maidservants and attendants in the residence had all been replaced, only Butler Zhang was kept. When Wei Ziang came back, Butler Zhang hurriedly went up to greet him.

”Third Young Master, Fourth Miss has been staying in the garden since returning from the palace today. Madam went out just now, saying she is having dinner at Madam Liu’s place and will return in the evening. She said for you to go see Fourth Miss when you return home.”

Everyone in the residence went out today, and only Fourth Miss is at home at this moment.

All the servants have been replaced, Butler Zhang inquired a bit, and it seems those replaced are not doing well now; and the reason for their replacement seemed to be due to some saying something inappropriate about the young masters and misses.

Marquess Nongzheng’s residence has no foundation in the Capital City, but the Emperor and Empress are their support. The Empress immediately replaced everyone, and this action is enough to intimidate others.

In the residence, it’s filled inside and out with palace people, not only the Jiang family themselves, but anyone entering Nongzheng Marquess’s residence must speak and act cautiously, lest the Emperor and Empress find out your private character.

Luckily, the Jiang family had anticipated this when coming to the Capital City. Although a bit unaccustomed, as long as one’s conduct is upright, there is nothing to fear.

They neither steal nor rob, don’t concern themselves with politics, nor do they meddle with the harem; they are simply here to have their son/big brother take an exam, intending to leave once done.

So concerning who belongs in the mansion, they care little, after all, they are not their own people, and within a short time, won’t dare frame them.

Thus, when Wei Ziang saw that he didn’t recognize any of the servants in the mansion, he was not surprised; he only redirected his intended steps to the room towards Xiaomi’s courtyard.

”Xiaomi is alone at home?”

Butler Zhang respectfully followed behind Wei Ziang, quickly responding, ”Yes, Fourth Miss has been sullen since returning from the palace; both the Lord and the Lady say she is waiting for the Third Young Master.”

Although this is just Jiang’s foster son, Butler Zhang dare not slack even a bit.

Nowadays, who doesn’t know this Third Young Master has earned a third rank official position on his own, and it’s exceptionally relaxed; he needn’t worry about politics nor involve himself in the court affairs.

Though lacking real power, absolutely no one dares to neglect him, and if he makes achievements, the rank might even rise further.

Wei Ziang nodded, having arrived outside Xiaomi’s courtyard, gestured for Butler Zhang not to follow and strode inside himself.

After entering the capital yesterday, Xiao Xue and Liu Ze returned to the Liu family.

If nothing unexpected happens, the couple will stay at Liu’s until Xiaomi and the others leave the Capital City, after all, they are Liu’s son and daughter-in-law.

Moreover, after learning about the space and Spiritual Spring Water, Liu Ze finally understood why his health improved when staying with the Jiang family and deteriorated when away for a long time.

Turns out Xiaomi had been using Spiritual Spring Water to regulate everyone’s health at home, so unsurprisingly, if Xiaomi and Wei Ziang decided to go to sea, the couple would definitely follow.

Of course, that’s a matter for many years later; currently, it’s natural to seize the opportunity to let Little Bun spend more time with grandparents.

At present, Xiaomi is alone, idly staying in her courtyard, quite bored.

And everyone knows the reason behind her mood today and very wisely chose not to disturb her, providing her individual space to ponder clearly.

The hurried steps slowed down as he approached Xiaomi.

Xiaomi indeed remained in the courtyard, underneath the pavilion, with a brazier beside her, a warming stove in her arms, and a maid brewing tea.

Although aware Wei Ziang had returned, she continued to lie on the table, motionless.

”Third Master.” The two maids promptly saluted.

Though unfamiliar with Wei Ziang, having seen the other two masters, naturally they recognized who had returned.

Wei Ziang told them to leave first, then sat opposite Xiaomi.

Xiaomi gave him a sidelong glance, then stared blankly at some unknown direction.

Wei Ziang sighed softly, reached out to rub Xiaomi’s head, and smiled gently.

”If you don’t wish to marry, then don’t. Tomorrow morning, I’ll go to the palace to tell the Emperor to let everyone abandon the thought of matchmaking for us. I imagine, given our family’s merits over the years, this request shouldn’t trouble the Emperor too much, right?

There are many watching over us; only once married or the Emperor personally instructs others to stop disturbing us will there not be endless visitors, possibly even those attempting to persuade the Emperor and Empress directly.

This Capital City indeed is a troublesome place.

If only had let elder brother come alone.

As Wei Ziang was lost in thought, he saw Xiaomi turn towards him, sniffling with a pitiful expression.

”Can we not have children for now? Pregnancy prohibits strenuous activities, which means we’ll have to stay even longer in the Capital City.”

Note: Regarding people prying into their marriage, here’s an explanation: the Jiang family has created so many surprises that people are bound to covet them; marriage alliances are the simplest and quickest way to tie someone to the Jiang family. However, the negligent author won’t write about that and doesn’t want to, so it’s skipped. Most likely, they’ll leave the Capital City quickly to resume their free and laid-back life.
