Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 718: Chapter 491: Be Prudent and Cautious

Jiang Wei, drenched in sweat, was being teased by his brothers about the kind of wife he wanted, and he deeply regretted it.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have coveted the fish in his big brother’s bucket, how did it end up on him?

It wasn’t until almost lunchtime when Second Aunt came to ask how the fishing was going, that his brothers finally let Jiang Wei go.

The kitchen staff took all the buckets of fish away to make them a special meal for lunch.

Now, no one was getting as seasick as before, and even if someone felt a bit unwell occasionally, a short rest was enough to feel better.

But being on the boat for such a long time, the initial excitement had faded, so some were reading, some fishing, and even Little Bun was idly watching Second Sister embroider.

Zhou Ying was still the same as before, almost always sleeping except at meal times, it was a wonder how she managed to sleep so much.

Little Bun was being looked after by Grandma and Grandpa. Jiang Hu and Second Aunt, doting on him every day, were the least bored on the boat.

Little Bun yawned again, and Xiaoxue put down her needle and thread with a smile: ”Little Bun, how about you give it a try? I’ll teach you?”

Little Bun shivered awake in an instant, shaking her head repeatedly: ”No, no, Second Sister, spare me. I can’t do this.”

She couldn’t even finish a cross-stitch, let alone Second Sister’s complicated embroidery, which was far more advanced.

Thinking about cross-stitch suddenly reminded her of something.

”Wait a minute, Second Sister, I think I have a lot of embroidery stuff too.”

Saying this, she leaned out the window a bit, saw no one around, pulled Xiaoxue, leaned over the table, and entered the space.

The family knowing about the space was the most convenient, at least she didn’t have to hide everything and could take out whatever she needed.

Previously, she feared the space might bring danger to the family, but now everyone was no longer a child, and they basically wouldn’t slip up and reveal anything.

Even though it wasn’t her first time entering the space, Xiaoxue still found it very magical.

Seeing Little Bun appear, she couldn’t help but lightly scold: ”Why did you suddenly come in here? Aren’t you afraid someone might see? The window wasn’t even closed.”

Such carelessness, what if someone found out?

”Don’t worry, Second Sister, I’m watching, no one else is upstairs, I’ll be quick.”

While speaking, a whole bunch of items flew out from the storeroom, landing neatly in front of them.

”What’s this? Cross-stitch? Diamond painting? Are these also embroidery?”

Xiaoxue quickly scanned through them; they were all neatly packaged, with various colors of thread inside and patterns on them, appearing quite delicate.

”Yes, Second Sister, pick two you like, start with the small ones. Although they don’t compare to your usual embroidery, I think they’re quite interesting. See if you’re interested.”

She wasn’t sure when those were put in the space, but remembered them earlier, so she brought Second Sister to have a look.

From a selfish perspective, she felt that even though cross-stitch couldn’t match Second Sister’s embroidery in sophistication, especially since Second Sister was now learning double-sided embroidery.

Yet, things are valued when they’re rare. If they worked on a few like ’Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix,’ ’Blossoming Wealth,’ ’Home Harmony and Prosperity,’ or ’Rising Sun Welcoming Guests,’ they could probably fetch a good price.

Of course, that ’Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix’ would likely be owned only by the Empress in the entire Xu Yu dynasty.

Xiaoxue felt curious too and unfolded a small cross-stitch with Little Bun’s help; the pattern was a cute fairytale village.

The embroidery cloth also had colors on it, each color marked with a number, and there was a reference chart on the side showing how to stitch it. Xiaoxue understood it at a glance.

”This is quite fun. I’ll take out two sets to try.”

Besides the fairytale village, she picked a daisy diamond painting. As Little Bun mentioned, it’s a nice way to kill time when there’s nothing to do.

The two sisters quickly came out. They had two more sets of things in their hands, which Xiaoxue placed in the chest by the bed, where she kept her embroidery supplies. Even Liu Ze wouldn’t normally look through it.

However, they didn’t take out the packaging bags, since it would be hard to explain if someone found them.

Xiaoxue quickly got the hang of it. These styles of patterns were very different from the embroidery she usually did, so it was like finding a new toy. She curiously embroidered for two days.

But later Second Aunt discovered them and got interested, so Xiaoxue conveniently gave it to her mother to pass the time.

Second Aunt didn’t have much knowledge about embroidery and wasn’t very skilled, so playing with this was just right for her.

Although Xiaoxue was initially very interested, she still preferred her embroidery. She thought these low-technical pieces were just a short-lived whim.

Thus on the boat, there soon was another person embroidering every day.

At least there were people keeping an eye on them, preventing mother and son from straining their eyes too much.

From the initial excitement of boarding the ship to ultimate boredom, it only took a long journey. This time, with stops and starts, they stayed on the boat for almost a month.

Mainly because they took lots of breaks along the way, stopping almost every time they reached a dock to explore for a day before continuing the next day.

This was the main reason for their prolonged journey.

But since nobody had anything important to do, having a leisurely vacation along the way, purchasing local items, wasn’t a bad idea.

Most importantly, Zhou Ying slept as soon as she got on the boat, only getting truly refreshed when off it.

Although the doctor said there was nothing wrong, and she herself seemed healthy, sleeping so long wasn’t reassuring, so they used the docking time to let her stay awake longer, which delayed the journey.

When they departed, it was the bleak autumn wind, but by the time they reached the dock outside the Capital City, everything was draped in white snow.

Thick snow covered the entire land; as far as the eye could see, it was all white.

They had seen snow halfway there, but seeing it again was still novel.

After all, in Cheng County and Lishi City, they had never seen snow; winter was only the chilly wind.

The whole family was already clad in thick cotton clothes and cloaks, and even the drowsy Zhou Ying was roused by Jiang Yu, still dazedly leaning against him.

At this moment, the boat hadn’t docked yet, but from afar they could already see many imperial guards waiting at the dock to keep others away.

And they were acquaintances.

By now, it was late October; there weren’t many ships on the river, so it didn’t bother others.

However, curious onlookers wanted to see who could be important enough for the palace’s imperial guards to come out.

They weren’t surprised because they saw Yang Commandant release a pigeon to send a message at the last stop, so having someone meet them ashore was quite normal.

Jiang Hu came out of the cabin with Little Bun in his arms, seeing the grand reception, he exhaled slowly, as if he became a bit more composed.

From now until they leave the Capital City, they must speak and act cautiously without any mistakes!
