Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 703: Chapter 476: Let’s Get Married

Second Aunt was probably the only one present who knew nothing about what was going on.

”Yingying, according to what you said, you don’t have any connection with that young master anymore, so why do you still say you have a fiancé? Isn’t that delaying your own marriage?”

As soon as these words were spoken, the other three immediately pricked up their ears, wanting to hear what was going on.

After all, it was something from many years ago. Yingying felt a bit sentimental talking about it again, but quickly recovered.

”Aunt Jiang, it’s just that I don’t want to get married, so I keep saying I’m waiting for my fiancé to return. But as we all know, I gave away the token of promise, so the engagement surely doesn’t count anymore.”

”Then you...” Second Aunt didn’t know what to say.

A young girl saying she will wait for a fiancé who hasn’t shown up for more than ten years is odd, especially when the fiancé is the grandson of a Duke’s family. Others don’t dare to casually say he’s dead or never coming back.

Isn’t that ruining her own marriage prospects? How would anyone dare to propose then?

Yingying shrugged: ”It’s not that I insist on doing this, I just find it annoying. The families my mother mentioned all have too many rules, and marrying into them would require me to act like a grand mistress.”

Xiaomi nodded in empathy. She didn’t know about the families Yingying spoke of, but hearing various rules from those old matrons in recent days was frightening enough.

The wealthier the family, the more rules they have.

Especially if there are a lady and an old lady above the young bride; it’s terrifying just to think about it.

Sister Yingying, being betrothed to a young master from a Duke’s family, must have an exceptional status too and wouldn’t marry into a lesser household.

So naturally, there would be even more rules.

Jiang Yu, at this point, didn’t care about all that; he sipped his tea and shook his head.

”You used to at least stay at home, but now you’ve run away. As a girl, people might talk about you being so willful. If you don’t want to marry, why not think of other ways?”

Yingying thought for a moment: ”It’s not that I don’t want to marry at all; I just don’t want to marry into a family with too many rules.”

Before anyone could ask more, Yingying suddenly looked at Jiang Yu.

”I know you haven’t married yet either, so why don’t you marry me? I came this time to discuss just that.”

”Pfft~ Cough cough cough... What, what did you say?”

Jiang Yu spat out his tea, and since he couldn’t dodge, it happened to spray onto Yingying’s face. However, no one paid much attention because everyone was shocked by Yingying’s audacious statement.

Yingying wiped the tea off her face with her sleeve and glanced regretfully at the potato strips in front of her, now inedible.

”I’m serious. We can get married after you finish the provincial exams unless by the time you reach the Capital City, various forces will propose to you. Don’t worry, I know Uncle Jiang is now a Marquis, so my status matches yours.”

The determination in Yingying’s words left Jiang Yu momentarily unable to refute.

Wei Ziang quietly stayed silent, inwardly hoping his brother would nod and agree at once, and it would be best if they immediately got married right here.

Even though he had no evidence or memory, Wei Ziang suspected that Yingying’s mentioning of a fiancé was most likely referring to himself.

After all, he was only a year younger than Yingying.

And that Pingan buckle did stir his memories when he saw it.

Moreover, when Xiaomi found him, his body was covered with various scars from swords and knives, fitting the condition of someone abducted and tortured by traitors.

The most important thing was that he remembered being saved soon after, and Xiaomi had told him that shortly after he was secretly sent into space, soldiers came to Fu’an Village looking for a little boy.

Even now, after hearing so much from Yingying, they didn’t know if the searchers at that time were good or bad, but it was most likely they were looking for him.

As for having a grandfather who was a Grand Duke or something, he didn’t really care because he indeed had amnesia and no memory of having any family, having grown up in the Jiang family.

The most pressing issue now was the betrothal.

Especially since it seemed like Yingying was still waiting for her fiancé in Nanyang Prefecture?

Just thinking about it was terrifying.

Of course, if all his thinking was overdone, then it was just a baseless worry.

If it were all true, then it’s best for Yingying to marry soon, and that bothersome engagement wouldn’t concern him anymore.

This was Wei Ziang’s sincerest thought, hoping to press his brother’s head into nodding for them to marry first before heading to Nanyang Prefecture!

Unfortunately, he couldn’t act, could only wish in his heart. But clearly, Yingying was more prepared than he thought.

Because after saying that, before others could react, she continued.

”Oh, by the way, you might not know, but there are two little princesses in the palace who are of marriageable age. Brother Jiang, I’ve long known you want to pursue an official career, but you should know that marrying a princess would mean only holding idle positions.”

Just as Jiang Yu was thinking of saying something to dispel Yingying’s outrageous idea, his expression suddenly straightened.

”Has the Magistrate heard any rumors?”

”What? Magistrate?” Xiaomi was instantly shocked. ”Is Yingying’s father the Magistrate? Could it be the Magistrate of Nanyang Prefecture?”

Second Aunt was also very surprised, but Jiang Yu and Wei Ziang seemed to have known it all along.

Yingying hurried to explain: ”Xiaomi, don’t misunderstand, I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I brought you to the hunting grounds, so you could have easily found out by asking around.”

But she hadn’t expected Xiaomi not to have inquired about it.

No, she didn’t expect Jiang Yu to have known yet never told anyone else!

Jiang Yu nodded: ”It’s true I didn’t deliberately hide it, but because I didn’t want to scare the family, I didn’t tell them.”

After all, back then, his father wasn’t a noble, just an ordinary citizen. Knowing Yingying’s identity was so high, they would have felt timid.

Jiang Yu briefly explained and then seriously looked at Yingying.

”Miss Yingying, does the Magistrate know something, or rather, your escape from marriage wasn’t just about leaving home, right?”

Yingying was surprised for a moment, hesitated, and then nodded.

”To be honest, previously the Magistrate of Cheng County, Lord Liu, studied under the same master as my father for two years, and some months ago my father visited the Capital City and caught up with Lord Liu.”

”Even if I don’t mention it now, it’s likely Lord Liu will find a way to inform you soon.”

”As for my coming to Cheng County.”

At this point, Yingying blushed a little: ”Regardless of anything else, one thing is certain, I truly meant what I said; I genuinely like the atmosphere of your family.”
