Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 164: Chapter 154: Wang Bushi and the Spear of Destruction (2)

Just as he was wondering, Ji Liangren ran up to the wall and, with a BAM, reverted to his human form. He then pressed a brick on the wall, causing it to sink inward. With a CLICK, a section of the wall slid aside, revealing a massive passage. Coiled within it was a gigantic metal serpent.

The great serpent’s scales were made of bright white alloy plates. It had a pair of electronic eyes, and its mouth was half-open, revealing sword-shaped blades for teeth. Its body was as thick as a water tank, and its head was the size of a small car. It was clearly a mechanical creation.

”Ding! You have discovered a secret armory. Defeat the guardian to enter!”

Wang Yi received the system prompt, and his spirits immediately lifted.

’It really is a secret armory!’

He couldn’t help but look at Ji Liangren. ”How did you find this secret armory?”

’With this maze, these mechanisms, and these hidden walls,’ Wang Yi thought, ’I probably couldn’t have found this secret armory even if you gave me a day or two.’

Ji Liangren laughed. ”I’m the Dogman God! Finding a hidden room like this is a piece of cake!”

’This guy either has heaven-defying luck or a real talent for this sort of thing,’ Wang Yi thought. Not dwelling on it, he carefully examined the metal serpent in the passage ahead. His Eye of Insight activated instantly, showing him its basic information.

[Steel-Boned Giant Snake: A super-intelligent, serpentine combat weapon built by the top research team of Old World Kun City over a period of two and a half years. It uses the spine of a Flaming Ascetic—an ecological product of a Spirit Transformation Body—for its Snake Bone, granting it certain biological abilities. It can spew poisonous Petroleum and scorching lines of fire. It is a High-level King-level combat unit, with combat power surpassing that of an ordinary King unit.]

”That’s the Steel-Boned Giant Snake, a High-level King-level combat unit! Everyone, be careful! Leave the battlefield to the Monkey Kings!”

Wang Yi issued the command, and the nine Monkey Kings leaped forward. Wielding their Golden Cudgels, they immediately engaged the Steel-Boned Giant Snake in battle.

Sparks flew instantly. The nine Monkey Kings zipped back and forth, their Body Techniques nimble and their speed incredible. They surrounded the Steel-Boned Giant Snake, attacking from all sides. Each swing of their Golden Cudgels was immensely powerful, but they only produced a CLANG CLANG, as if they were striking an anvil.

Yet the Golden Cudgels, which could easily shatter a Bayonet Robot, only managed to produce sparks and break off a few armor plates when they struck the Steel-Boned Giant Snake. The damage they dealt was minimal.

The great serpent, on the other hand, was ferocious. It could spew fire and oil, its body thrashed wildly, and its power was immense.

Even with all nine Monkey Kings working together, it took a grueling twenty-minute battle to finally disable it. And just as they did, the Steel-Boned Giant Snake actually self-destructed with a massive BOOM! The explosion shook the entire underground maze and sent all nine Monkey Kings stumbling backward.

”We finally took it down. With the Steel-Boned Giant Snake on guard, I doubt most people could get in here even if they found the secret armory!”

Wang Yi waved a hand to block the dust. Seeing the main door to the secret armory open automatically, he strode forward.

Soon, Wang Yi was inside the secret armory. The first thing he saw was a red, torpedo-shaped shell standing upright in the middle of the storeroom. It was over one-and-a-half meters tall.

[Spear of Destruction: Special Equipment, Consumable Weapon, Personal Weapon, Special Bomb, Small-Scale High-Lethality Deep-Penetration Weapon. One of the devastating weapons forged by the Old World Green Land Alliance. Blast projects from the warhead: 10-meter horizontal radius, 500-meter longitudinal radius. Commonly used for ambushes and bombardments, it possesses immense penetrating power! Warning: This item cannot be placed in a Storage Realm. It may detonate if subjected to severe impact. Please handle with extreme care!]

’Holy crap, is this thing a nuke?!’

Wang Yi’s heart leaped. He went closer to examine it and quickly found the Spear of Destruction’s activation button. He was surprised to see it even had a shoulder strap.

’A personal weapon, special equipment... It’s a piece of gear...’

Wang Yi narrowed his eyes and looked at Ji Liangren. ”Dog Head, come over here. Equip this Spear of Destruction and let me see what it looks like.”

Ji Liangren frantically waved his hands. ”Boss, don’t mess with me! I’m not on a suicide squad! There’s no way I’m strapping that bomb to my back!”

Wang Bushi, however, stepped forward. ”Father, I will be your suicide squad. For me, the Spear of Destruction is the perfect weapon!”

Wang Yi’s eyes lit up. ”Excellent, excellent! This weapon is perfect for you! Come, I’ll help you put it on.”

”Yes!”

With an excited expression, Wang Bushi stood before Wang Yi. Wang Yi had him sling the Spear of Destruction onto his back as if it were a school backpack.

Ji Liangren, watching from the side, frowned with wide eyes. ”Boss, is this your son? Hatched from a Chaos Egg? Tsk tsk, are you sending him to blow up a school or something?”

He then crouched in front of Wang Bushi and said, ”Hey kiddo, listen to Uncle Ji. That’s a bomb. It’s really dangerous, and kids shouldn’t touch it. Your old man is trying to get you killed!”

Upon hearing this, Wang Bushi immediately pulled the Spear of Destruction off his back, cradled it in his arms, and aimed the warhead right at Ji Liangren’s nose. Terrified, Ji Liangren threw his hands in the air. ”Little Boss, don’t be impulsive! Please, don’t be impulsive! We can talk about this!”

Wang Yi burst out laughing. ”Good son, even though the Spear of Destruction is a perfect match for you, you must always be careful. Be sure to handle it gently. You can’t let it detonate!”

Wang Bushi said, ”Father, rest assured. If I’m here, the spear is here. If the spear is destroyed, so am I!”

Wang Yi nodded upon hearing this, but then quickly shook his head.

’At first, that sounded right.’

’But this kid is ready to die at a moment’s notice. It’s not safe for him to carry the Spear of Destruction around all day. If it went off by accident, a 500-meter penetrating blast is no small matter.’

”Son,” Wang Yi added, ”when we’re not at war, you can store the spear in a safe place. Only bring it out when it’s time to fight!”

”Okay, Father!”

Wang Bushi nodded. He carefully wiped down the Spear of Destruction before slinging it back onto his back.

Ji Liangren clicked his tongue in amazement, but he didn’t dare go near Wang Bushi again.

Wang Yi surveyed the secret Treasure Vault again. Besides the Spear of Destruction, there was also a golden Treasure Chest.

He opened the Treasure Chest. Inside were ten [Material Exchange Certificate·Bayonet Robot], one [Material Exchange Certificate·Chain Blade Mecha], a golden blind box, a Golden Chaos Egg, and a watch with a compass-like pointer.

Wang Yi first used the [Material Exchange Certificate·Chain Blade Mecha], redeeming it for a single-pilot combat Mecha.

This Mecha was three meters tall and weighed a ton. It was powered by fuel, limited to ground combat, and equipped with an alloy chain blade. Its exterior looked rather crude, as if it had been cobbled together by hand, and it lacked any industrial aesthetic. Compared to Prototype No. 1, it was clearly a low-tech product.

Next, Wang Yi examined the Golden Chaos Egg. Its stats were decent; it could hatch a calm, reliable, and taciturn driver.

Soon, Wang Yi hatched the driver. He was a bald, middle-aged man named Frank, and he possessed four skills: [All-Purpose Driving], [Agile], [Vehicle Maintenance], and [Driving Learning].

According to the skill descriptions, he was a master pilot for all sea, land, and air vehicles—rickshaws, motorcycles, cars, cruise ships, submarines, aircraft carriers, fighter jets, you name it. Not only were his driving skills superb, but he also knew how to perform maintenance and possessed the hand-to-hand combat skills of an elite Warrior.

Wang Yi had him try to pilot the Mecha on the spot.

It turned out he didn’t know how, but after three minutes of self-teaching, he’d figured it out!

Meanwhile, Wang Yi put the pointer watch on his wrist.

This was the Sky Pointer that Mr. Jin had mentioned. It was very simple, containing a single, light-blue needle that pointed diagonally toward the sky, indicating the location of Source Body Jiya.

’With this pointer, I can finally find Jiya. I can start working on clearing the world quest.’

The thought of the world-clearing quest made Wang Yi’s heart race. All he had to do was kill Jiya, and he would gain exclusive access to travel through the World of Suffering. With no other Players to compete with, wouldn’t everything in this world belong to him and him alone?

’However, there’s more than one world-clearing quest. Even for this one—killing Jiya—my way isn’t the only way to trigger it. Delays breed trouble, so the sooner I finish it, the better. If someone else gets there first, it’ll all be for nothing.’
